Rooted In Nature

This year I made a vow to myself that I would use my Designer Series Paper more.  The packs of it usually retire at the end of the Stampin’ Up! year and I always have so much left.  It is totally psychological!  It is so hard to cut into that first piece.  I think to myself should I cut it in 6″ x6″ squares?  Maybe I should do 4″ by 6″ rectangles.  Wait, what if I need a 5.5″ x 4″ landscape piece for a card?  What if I decide to use it for a Club or workshop and I don’t have enough because I already used it on a card?   I usually end up putting it back because I just can’t decide.  I know.  First world problems!

In any case I am using my Designer Series Paper this year.  I am going to use it all up!  Ok, that is probably a lie but I am going to try to use it all up.

In this case I cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece from Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper.  Then I cut that in half and used both halves on this card.  I stamped the sentiment from Rooted In Nature in black and backed it with a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock.  I cut the Mint Macaron leaves out using the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies and then embossed them with one of the embossing dies.  I love that Stampin’ Up! has embossing dies in so many of their sets.

Can you see how DSP adds so much dimension to a card?  Use your Designer Series Paper!  That is what it is for!

  1. Was that last line for me? I have a really hard time with that first cut too. “What if it’s the wrong size and gets wasted? What if I cut the wrong direction? What if I run out and need more for a project? What if….” I try to say, “What if you cut it and it’s gorgeous and the most beautiful card you’ve ever made?” You’re right – it’s all psychological. Your card is beautiful! Love the paper, and that leaf is the perfect finishing touch! (I’m so proud of you!)
