Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies

Today is my sister, Katherine’s birthday.  I did not give her this card for her birthday!  I made her another card but I forgot to take a picture of it so she gets to enjoy it all by herself.  Katherine is an amazing woman.  We all her the Pioneer Woman.  She lost her husband to Glioblastoma a little over a year ago and has been coping with life alone ever since.  He died during the winter and all of a sudden Katherine had to shovel, plow, feed the birds, garden, move, sell her house and do all those everyday things by herself. It has been tough but she is tough and can handle it.

I made this card using a new set of dies in the 2019 Occasions Catalog called Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies.  These dies are such fun!  There are actually two in this set that make the one image on the card.  They layer together to give the butterflies a two toned 3D kind of look.  There are also 18 other dies in this set.  These dies do have an awesome matching stamp set called Beauty Abounds.  I didn’t use it on this card but it is a must have.  If you buy them both in a Bundle, you can save 10%.

To make this card I first cut out the bottom layer of the butterflies with Calypso Coral cardstock and the top layer in Blushing Bride.  Then I just adhered them together using Multipurpose Glue on Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.  This set is also in the Occasions Catalog and has 16 different stamp sets that are birthday related.  I first stamped this in Versamark and then embossed it using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool.  It is a simple card but looks more complicated.

Here is to my Pioneer Woman sister, Katherine.  I hope you have a wonderful birthday because you are a wonderful person!

  1. I’m glad that you’re over your butterfly phobia, Susan – this card is beautiful! Love the layered colours. My sympathy to your sister 😦 I’m sure she appreciates your support (even the tough need someone to lean on occasionally).
