Home To Roost

I made this card after seeing a few cards my friend, Buffy made using this stamp set.  It is one of the free sets you can get with a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration.  It is called Home To Roost.  I am not a very good colorer and I usually shy away from animal stamp sets but I thought it one was kind of cute.  I have had it for a while but didn’t take it out until Buffy motivated me.

The colors I used on this card are Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody, Very Vanilla and Night of Navy.  I stamped the rooster and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored the rooster using my Stampin’  Blends.  Truly the only way I can halfway color is to use the Blends.  They make it so easy because they are alcohol markers so they don’t streak and blend well together.  Then I stamped the grass on a piece of Mango Melody cardstock and layered everything together.  It is quick and easy card to make and perfect for a beginner stampers.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time until March 31st!  You can earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase, get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 single or group order or join my Stampin Up! family and get a $175 worth of products for $99  or get the Carry & Craft Tote and $175 worth of products for $129!

  1. First – gorgeous rooster! You did a great job, and I’m glad I could motivate you! Second – you color really well, I think, using blends, pencils, whatever. (Although the blends do make it easier!) Great card. I love the grass on the Mango Melody layer, and it goes so well with Cherry Cobbler. (I get so many color ideas from your blog!)

  2. Tee hee. I could have sworn someone said that they don’t need the rooster. This is a gorgeous card (as Buffy said). Love the colors and coloring.

  3. I agree with the other comments – you colour very well, Susan! I love the surprise of the blue tail feathers! The layering is perfect – especially the stamped grasses on the background.
