A couple of months ago I went to Nashville to see my son and his family.  We took the grand kids to the Nashville Zoo.  If you haven’t been there, you really need to go.  It is a wonderful zoo.  One of the displays I loved there was the Meer Cat display.  It was so much fun to watch those crazy animals stand up totally straight and watch you watching them.  I actually had never seen a Meer Cat (at least in my most recent memory).  I thought it was pretty funny when Stampin’ Up!® came out with this set.

To make this card I first stamped the cactus in the middle of a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Memento Black Ink.  Then I stamped it again on a Post-It Note and cut it out so I could make a mask of it. I placed the Post-It Note stamped image over the original stamped image and then stamped the little lizard.  This makes it look like the lizard is peeking out behind the cactus and gives the card some depth.  Then I stamped the two Meer Cats on either side of the cactus.  I stamped the party hats in Highland Heather ink and colored the cactus and lizard with my Dark and Light Granny Apple Green Blends.  I added a little “dirt” using my Light Crumb Cake Blend to ground all the figures.  Otherwise it looked like they were standing in mid air.

After I stamped and colored all the images, I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut out a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock.  I love these new dies.  They make stitched scalloped rectangles in different sizes as well as some stitched labels.
