Hiding amongst the many Stampin’ Up!® products is a set of dies called Give It A Whirl. It doesn’t coordinate with any stamp set so it is hard to miss in the 2021/2022 Annual Catalog but you can see it on page 163 and some samples on page 57. What makes this set of dies different? They are interactive dies which mean they do something or make something move. In this case, they make a wheel that you can turn to see different images. They are really such fun and not hard to make at all.
There are four different “window” dies with this set. There is a circle, a rectangle a heart and the shape I used on my card. Then there is a die that cuts out a large circle which is the wheel you turn. It has a scalloped edge so you can turn it with your finger. There is a large die that cuts out the front of the card that had the 1/2 circle cut out to turn the wheel. There are 21 dies in all to help decorate your card.
To make this card I first used a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of Coastal Cabana card stock to make the background. Then I cut out the front using the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper that you can purchase as a Hostess Set. This pack of paper has 48 12″ x 12″ inch sheets (lots and lots!). Then I cut out the scalloped wheel in Whisper White and stamped a different color fish from the stamp set called Seascape in each section so when you turn the wheel you can see each one. I decorated the front of the card using dies from the coordinating set called Sea Life. The Give It A Whirl die set even includes the little arrow showing you how to turn the wheel.
Here are some more photos showing the different colored fish I used.
