Penguin Place is one of the new stamp sets in the 2021 July – August Mini Catalog. It has a matching punch called Penguin Punch Builder and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle. I know I do not usually buy stamp sets that have critters but now that I am a grandmother and a couple of my granddaughters are getting older, they are starting to show an interest in art, crafts and card making. They don’t care too much about flowers or sentiments. They want critters, fairies and princesses. That means that I need to start looking at stamp sets that they can enjoy so I can pass my love of stamping on to them. In a couple more years my grandsons will be old enough so I will need to start buying more male related sets. In the meantime, Penguin Place is perfect for both!
To make this card I first punched out the penguin’s body in Basic Black cardstock using the Penguin Builder Punch. This punch also cuts out the penguin’s white part and the feet. I punched the body in Basic White (of course) and the feet in Mango Melody. I adhered them all together with Multipurpose Glue and then stamped the eyes and the mouth.
Next I stamped the presents in Pacific Blue, Polished Pink, Mango Melody, Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather ink and then cut them out by hand. I am not much of a fussy cutter but since these were rectangles, I figured I could handle it. I stamped the balloon in Mango Melody ink. By the way, the balloon can be punched out using the retired Balloon Punch if you have it. Lastly I stamped the balloon string and then glued everything onto a piece of Basic White cardstock I had cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Then I layered all of that onto a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock that I had also cut out the the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The card base is Pacific Point.
This is a photo of Madelyn and Olivia. Madelyn and her dad, Sam came up to the cottage for a week and they finally got to meet each other. I think they each loved their cousin!
