Soft Seedlings

Stampin Up Soft Seedlings

Hello everyone.  I just wanted to let you know that my next few posts will probably be short and sweet.  I have lots of family here and I love spending as much time as I can with them so my stamping has kind of taken a back seat.  I have made a few cards ahead of time so I will still be posting my creations but the blog posts might be shorter than normal.

I made this card using a new stamp set called Soft Seedlings.  This set is in the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog.  It is a DisINKtive stamp set which means that each stamp creates different opacities in a single stamp which brings depth to the image.  It is a very cool thing that Stampin’ Up! patented a couple of years ago.  You can see this process in the leaf where it is darker in some places and lighter in others.

Now, normally you would think that this leaf would be perfect for Fall. The only problem is the seedlings on a Maple tree fall in the spring.  A couple of days after we arrived at the cottage, there was this huge wind.  Our deck was covered in the seedlings.  I am not talking about ten or twenty of them.  There were hundreds of them covering the deck floor.  The squirrels and chipmunks were running wild.  I finally asked Rob to get the blower out and get them off the deck so we weren’t attacked by all the critters.  It was crazy!

The first thing I did was take a piece of Basic White card stock and run it through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder.  This folder is also in the new Mini Catalog.   Then, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color this leaf stamp.  First, I colored the entire leaf and stems using Granny Apple Green.  Then I ran an Old Olive Marker around the edges.  After that, I used a Crumb Cake Marker to color the seedlings.  When you color a stamp with markers you have to “huff” on it before stamping so if the ink has dried, it will moisten again.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink onto a 7/8″ x 2 5/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock and then layered that onto a 1″ x 2.74″ piece of Granny Apple Green card stock.
