We made the long trip back to Nashville on Saturday. I have to say that 14 hours in a car in one day is a lot of car time! Thank goodness for music, audiobooks and podcasts to keep our minds on something else besides counting the lines in the road. I haven’t unpacked my stamping supplies yet but I will be working on it this week. This is one of the cards I made before I left New York.
I made this card using the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper. This paper is black and white and just begs to be colored. I am not a great colorer but Stampin’ Up!® makes it a lot easier to do when you are not good at it. First of all, they have this gorgeous DSP which is perfect. Secondly, they give you amazing tools to use such as Blends, Stampin Write Marker and Watercolor Pencils. To make this card, I first took a piece of the Perfectly Penciled DSP and colored it using my Old Olive, Polished Pink, Daffodil Delight, Tahitian Tide and Highland Heather Blends. I didn’t try to add shades or anything fancy to my coloring because I felt like the black sections on the flowers and leaves pretty much did that for me.
Next, I cut the image out by hand. Yes, I fussy cut. Yes, it took me forever, Yes, I know it is not the best job but it looked good enough to me. You can tell there are parts where I could not cut because there were no open lines to it but I still think it looks ok. After this, I took a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic White card stock and cut out the bottom half using the Split Card Textures die set. I love this die set. There are two dies included in it. One cut out the pattern on my card and the other cuts out flowers. I think it adds a lot of interest to a simple card. I layered this on top of a Polished Pink card base and then adhered the flower bouquet that I had cut. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Heron Habitat. It is a great stamp set that has wonderful sentiments in a very nice font.

This card is a stunner. The colors are so vibrant. I did NOT realize that you fussy cut you did such a nice job. I assumed that a die was used so that is really impressive

Thanks, Jackie. I am not a fan of fussy cutting at all. I just liked the DSP and thought it would be great to color.

Glad you’re back safely. And two things (maybe three) about this card. It is absolutely stunning! Your coloring is perfect. And as for fussy cutting – I know it’s not your favorite thing, but I thought, “Oh, cool! There’s a die that goes with that DSP!” Beautiful job!
