I used to make fun fold cards all the time but haven’t in a while. I have always liked them because they are unexpected and the unexpected is usually such a fun thing to receive. This particular fun fold is a super easy one. Here is what it looks like when you open it:
To make this card I first took a standard piece of Basic White card stock (8.5″ x 5.5″) and folded it in half. Then I used by Paper Trimmer and cut down 2.75″ along the fold and then 4.25″ across the front of the card base. This cut off the top half of the front of the card. Next, I just layered a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Balmy Blue card stock and a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Basic White card stock on the inside section.
To decorate the front, I added a 4″ x 2.5″ piece of Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper. This paper is not in any catalog. It was a special back in November and is only available until January 4th or as supplies last. I have to say I have used it a lot and it has become one of my favorite paper packs.
Then I cut the Framed Floret Dies to cut out the oval in Balmy Blue card stock. The die that I used cuts out the outside of the oval as well as the inside. I kept the inside of it to add a backing the the outside oval. Next, I stamped the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set on a piece of Basic White card stock. The stamp set is also called Framed Florets. Stampin’ Up! started naming their dies and the stamp sets the same name so I don’t have to remember two different ones (it doesn’t take a lot to make me happy)! I cut that out using the same die as the Balmy Blue piece. By the way, the Framed Florets stamp set and dies are in the January – April Mini Catalog and if you purchase them in a bundle you can save 10%. I adhered the Balmy Blue outside oval, the Balmy Blue inside oval and the Basic White inside oval together. The I put Multipurpose glue on the bottom half of it and adhered it to the front of the card.
Lastly, I cut out the leaf pattern and I stamped the flower in Night Of Navy ink. I colored the inside of the flower using a Balmy Blue Blends.
