All Good Things Must Come To An End

Today is a sad day.  It is the last day of Sale-A-Bration.  Who doesn’t love free things?  Usually when I order from Stampin’ Up! it is more than $50 and during the months of February and March you get extra free things when you place an order of this amount or more.  They had some beautiful things you could get for free this year.  I think it has been one of my favorite Sale-A-Bration catalogs since I started with Stampin’ Up!.  You can see all the items available by clicking on the Sale-A-Bration catalog on the right hand side of my blog or click HERE.

Here are some examples of cards I made using the 2014 Sale-A-Bration products:

It is also the last day you can order any of “The Best Of” stamp sets.  It was fun to see what stamps would show up each month.  My favorite, of course, is The Best of Flowers.  To see all The Best Of sets just click on the link above that says “Merchandise Not In The Catalog” and scroll down.  This is a great way to see all the items available for purchase that are not in any catalog.

Hurry and order today before it is too late!

A Banner Birthday

Create A Cupcake

Every once in a while I will look at my stamp sets and realize I have not used one of them in a while.  This is how I felt about Create A Cupcake.  It is a great birthday set and also has a matching punch called Cupcake Builder!  The punch is great because, not only does it punch out a cupcake, you can also punch a candle, cherry and sprinkles!  I decided to pair this stamp set with one of the Sale-a-bration sets you can get for free with a qualifying purchase called Banner Blast.  This set also has a matching Banner punch making it so easy to create banners.  I think they are perfect together!

Hello Four You

Four You

I was cleaning up my stamp room the other day (which I try to do every once in a while so I don’t get swallowed up by the paper tornado) and I came across a lot of small pieces of Designer Series Paper that I had previously cut for a workshop.  Turns out they were the perfect width to use with the Banner Framelits.  I actually accidentally came up with this card layout.  I was cutting the pieces into banners and then putting them on my stamping mat and they fell into a pattern that looked like this.  Sometimes these things work out that way.

The stamp set I used is called Four You.  The Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper was free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-bration.  There are only 4 more days to get this product for free!

Grunge Meets Flowers

Grunge Meets Flowers

My friend, Buffy, makes the most gorgeous vintage cards where she rips and tears and smudges and splats all over the place and the cards come out so beautiful.  She uses the stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge a lot to make these cards.  I, on the other hand, am a clean stamper.  You won’t see any torn paper or anything distressed looking yet I also use Gorgeous Grunge.  It just goes to show you how one stamp set can be so versatile.

The Designer Series Paper I used on this card was free from the Sale-a-bration catalog and is called Sweet Sorbet.  It has great colors that are soft yet also has a bit of black.  You also can get this paper for free with a $50 purchase until March 31st.  After that, you can’t buy or get it free.

The flowers are from Petite Petals and Flower Shop.  I used 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim Ribbon in Crisp Cantaloupe and the sentiment is from Itty Btty Banners.

Wetlands Happy Birthday

Wetlands

I have to say I just love those little pipers running along the shore in Florida.  They are so cute so when I saw this stamp set called Wetlands, I knew I had to get it.  The Masking Tape Technique is perfect to go along with this set.  All I did was lay a piece of masking tape on an ink pad, rub it a little and then press it onto the card stock.  For this card I used Island Indigo, Pool Party, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand.  The sentiment is one I designed using the Photopolymer Stamp called Circle Monogram.  To finish off the background, I used a piece of Sahara Sand card stock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  There is still time for you to get this set free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration!  Hurry, this offer is only good until March 31st!

March Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop

MarchBlogHopBanner2

Welcome to another edition of the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop.  You must have just come from Jackie’s blog.  Weren’t her projects amazing?  She always does such a nice job!

This month our assignment was to do whatever we wished.  I always like assignments like that.  I decided to do a couple of birthday cards because everyone needs birthday card ideas.

My first project uses the Stampin’ Up! Pop ‘N Cuts Card Base Big Shot die with the Label Insert.  Pop ‘n Cuts cards are always so much fun because when you open then, there is a surprise inside that is not expected.  In 2012, Stampin’ Up! introduced the Pop ‘N Cuts line with the Dress Form Insert and in 2013 they added this Label Insert.  I think it is very versatile and matches our Deco Labels Framelits perfectly.

The card base uses the Designer Series Paper called Quatrefancy Specialty Paper.  The great thing about Designer Series Paper is that each side has a different pattern with different colors.  It is perfect to used with the Pop ‘N Cuts dies.

One side of this paper uses Daffodil Delight while the other side is Strawberry Slush.  I added Rich Razzleberry because it looks good with both of those colors.  The sentiment is from Perfect Pennants and the Mosaics are from Mosaic Madness (which has a matching punch also called Mosaic).

The inside of the card uses a couple of different stamp sets.  The banners are a Sale-a-bration stamp set called Banner Blast that you can get FREE with a qualifying purchase.  That set also has a matching punch (you have to love those sets that have matching punches because it makes life so much easier).  Look closely at the stamp in the middle.  Have you ever seen it?

DSC01980

Now the fun part about this card (besides the Pop Up) is the stamp I used in the middle of it.  I actually designed this stamp.  Stampin’ Up! now offers a Photopolymer Stamp called Circle Monogram (item # 132852) where you design what it says.  This particular stamp is a Happy Birthday stamp.  Here is a close up of it:

DSC01969

Don’t you just love it?  I had so much fun designing it and it was easy to do.  When you order it, a window pops up and you just put whatever you want it to say in the blanks.  I made two of them.  The other one has my name, email address and web site address on it.

My second project is also a birthday card that is a Fun Fold Card.  Karen Burniston is the woman who designed the Pop ‘N Cut dies for Stampin’ Up!  A couple of years ago, I saw a card she made that she called an Accordion Card.  I purchased the template from her and finally decided to use it for this hop.  I must admit that Karen makes it look so easy to make, but honestly, it took me a while.  I also decided to just use three panels instead of four.

Here is the front of the card ( I also used the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching envelope that you can see in the background):

I used the stamp set called Starburst Sayings with the matching Framelits that are in the Occasions Catalog.  The Designer Series Paper is called Sweet Sorbet and is a Sale-a-bration item you can get for FREE with a qualifying purchase.

When you open the card, it looks like this:

Here is a close up of the middle panel:

I used the Small Oval Punch and the feet in the Owl Builder Punch to make the balloons.

Here is the last panel:

This stamp is from the Occasions Catalog and is called Another Great Birthday only I did not use this stamp set.  Confused?  I don’t actually own this set.  I downloaded a digital download of it to My Digital Studio and then printed it on my printer.  The “real” stamp is actually a lot bigger than this and would not have fit on this panel.  My Digital Studio was perfect because you can re-size it to whatever size you need.

My last project is a last minute thing I actually decided to add yesterday.  I know.  It is so unlike me to do a last minute thing and I am sure I will get lots of comments about this. I can’t help it.  I am a planner.  Anyway, I saw a video on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page and decided to try it out.  It uses My Digital Studio and some Plastic Shrinkable Pages (in other words Shrinky Dinks!).

Key Chains

DSC01995

I made key chains for some ladies who are taking a My Digital Studio Class with me.  All you do is design the little charms using My Digital Studio.  Then print them out on the Shrinky Dink Plastic Pages, cut them out and put them in your oven for about 2 minutes.  Well, there is a little bit more to it than that because they are double sided.  You can watch the video here.

The designs do shrink quite a bit.  For the larger circles I used Designer Series Paper called Sweet Sorbet from the Sale-a-bration Digital Download called One Big Sale-A-Bration 2014 (you can get this download for FREE with a $50 purchase).   I cut them out using the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.  This is how much they shrank:

On Film

DSC01981

This is another project we did at our monthly Club meeting.  It uses a set of Framelits called On Film.  It is a really fun set because it has all these shapes that are related to cameras and film.  There is a stamp set called Peachy Keen that you can purchase as a bundle with these Framelits and save 15% but they don’t exactly match.  The camera in the stamp set does not match the camera in the Framelit set.  There are a couple of ways around this.  One way is to do what I did for this card.  I inked up the actual Framelit itself with Coastal Cabana ink and then cut it out with my Big Shot.  Here is a close up of the camera so you can see it better.

DSC01982

I used the Sale-a-bration Embossing Folder called Decorative Dots and the Designer Series Paper called Sweet Sorbet.  You can get both of these items fro FREE with a qualifying purchase!  You can also earn other FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase!  Get an extra $30 in Hostess Benefits with a $300 workshop (or order)!  Join my Stampin Up! family and get an extra $25 with your starter kit!

A Sale-A-Bration Card

DSC01938

I am absolutely in love with the Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper called Sweet Sorbet.  It has some of my favorite colors in it such as Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Sahara Sand and others.  It is soft and sweet and I know I am going to use it a lot.  You can get this designer Series Paper for Free with a qualifying purchase.

This card also uses a stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalog called You’re Lovely.  It matches the Deco Label Framelits that are in the annual catalog.  Remember, this stamp set is free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-bration only!

Nautical Birthday Card

DSC01940

Banners are big right now in the world of stamping.  You will see them everywhere.  The nice thing about banners is you can turn them sideways and they become flags.  The Banner Blast Stamp Set from the Sale-a-bration catalog makes perfect nautical flags if you turn them sideways.  The set has a matching punch which makes life so much easier because you don’t have to cut out each and every flag.  You can get these items for free with a qualifying purchase until the end of the month.  The punch is going to be in the next catalog but the stamp set is only available during Sale-a-bration.
