Designer Series Paper

Stampin Up Hues Of Happiness

Here is another card where Designer Series Paper is the star of the show.  The fun thing about DSP is there are different designs on each side that usually coordinate with each other.  There are also other packs of Stampin’ Up!® DSP that you can mix and match as I did with this card.

To make this card, I first layered a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of the Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper onto a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Fresh Freesia card stock.  Then, I tied a piece of Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon around it and layered them onto a Basic White card base.  Next, I cut out three 1.25″ x 3 3/8″ pieces of Fresh Freesia card stock.  I layered a 1 1/*’ x 3.25″ piece of Hues Of Happiness Designer Series Paper on top of each of the Fresh Freesia pieces.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Sending Smiles in Gorgeous Grape ink and cut it out using the coordinating die in the Sending dies set.  If you purchase the Sending Smiles stamp set and the Sending Dies using the bundle item number, you can save 10th %.  I layered the sentiment on top of the card using Mini Dimensionals.

I am almost done setting up my stamp room again from our move back to Nashville from the cottage.  You never realize how much stuff you have until you have to pack it up and then put it away.  Then again, you can never have too many stamping products.  I need everything I own and more!  You all understand, right?

Designer Series Paper Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use two different designs of Designer Series Paper .  This was hard because my mother always told me to never wear two different patterns together!  You always have to have a solid with a pattern.  I am sure there were a ton of “What Not To Wear” episodes on this matter.  It is a good thing that it is ok to do this on cards!

I decided to use the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper.  I figured out the two designs I wanted to use but had a hard time figuring out what else to do with it.  I tried different flowers but thought it was too much so I played around with a new set of dies I just got called Hand-Lettered Prose.  I like these dies because the letters are slightly slanted in an elegant font.  The colors in the DSP are Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow so I cut the letters out in Mossy Meadow cardstock.

The ‘Birthday’ stamp is from the stamp set called Piece Of Cake.  The whole stamp says Happy Birthday so I masked off the word “Happy”.  To do this, all I did was cover the word “happy” with a piece of tape, ink the stamp and then pull the tape off.  That way only the word “Birthday” had ink on it.  The hardest part is remembering to take off the tape.  If you forget, it makes a mess (ask me how I know this!).  I have ruined many a piece of cardstock because I forgot!

I felt like the card needed a little something else.  I looked for some embellishments in Mossy Meadow and I didn’t have any.  No worries though!  I took my Dark Mossy Meadow Blend and colored 3 of the green sequins from the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  That is one thing I love about the Blends.  You can use them to color any non-porous material such as the sequins.

Now please go to Buffy’s and Jackie’s blog to see what they created this week.

A Stamp Off Thanks

Stamp Off Logo Clean

I hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving and that you were filled with family, friends, good food and thankfulness.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is called “Let’s Be Grateful”.

november-25-2016

I decided not to use the tradition Fall or Thanksgiving colors and theme for my card.  Instead I went with pinks and purples.

Wild About Flowers, Thoughtful Banners, Stitched Shapes, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

Whenever I get stuck on making a card, I look for a sketch challenge to do.  I found one similar to this layout but I changed it a bit and made it simpler.

I used the new Stitched Shapes Framelits.  These Framelits are actually going to be in the 2017 Annual Catalog but Stampin’ Up! decided to release them early.  This made me so happy since I love the look of the stitching.  The best part is this set of Framelits have circles, ovals and squares!

The flowers are from the stamp set called Wild About Flowers and the sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners.  The Designer Series Paper is called Blooms & Bliss.

Someone asked me how I cut the triangles of paper so evenly.  It is super simple!  You just cut a square (this one is 3″ x 3″) and then make a cut from one corner to the opposite corner.  That way both sides are exactly the same size.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy have made for their Thank You cards.  I am sure we will be awed!

Birthday Fiesta

Birthday Fiesta

Here is a quick and easy birthday card for when you are in a hurry.  The whole card only took a couple of minutes.  Life gets busy but you still need to acknowledge someone’s birthday so quick and easy is good!

I used the stamp set called Birthday Fiesta.  It is in the 2016 Annual Catalog has  a set of matching Framelits called Fiesta Time, although I didn’t use them for this card.  If you purchase both you can save 10% on the Bundle.  The Designer Series Paper is called Festive Birthday.  That is one thing (among many things) that is awesome about Stampin’ Up! products.  Everything coordinates with each other.

A Take It Or Leave It Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is that time of the week for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me!  This time Jackie gave us a Take It Or Leave It Challenge.

SO take it or leave it challenge

I decided to us three out of four of the items on the list.  I used the Layering Ovals Framelits, my sentiment is “Thinking of You” and I used the Sweet Sugarplum which is one of the 2016/2017 In Colors.  The only thing I did not do was emboss so I left it!

Time Of Year, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I was trying to figure out how to add a pop of color onto this card but everything I tried was also left on the table so I decided to add a little flower in the corner with a White Perfect Accent in the middle.  The stamp set I used is a hostess set called Time Of Year.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made for their Take It Or Leave it Challenge!

A Stamp Off Designer Series Paper Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

This week our challenge is to use Designer Series Paper.  This is a great challenge for me because I am a hoarder of DSP.  I love it.  I buy it but boy is it hard to cut into that first piece!  Once I do, I am ok but it is still hard.

Seaside Shore, Layering Ovals, By The Shore

First of all, I think I deserve kudos for actually following this challenge!  I’m the rebel in the group and often just do whatever I want.  I know.  I am a spoiled brat but I do much better when I am in my own comfort zone and would rather post something I like at least a little then something I can’t stand.

I decided to use the stamp set called Seaside Shore (again) for my card with the matching Designer Series Paper called By The Shore.  I love anything that has to do with the beach, the ocean or the coast so both of these things were perfect.  I love the little fish in this set (there are two more I didn’t use) as well as the starfish and shells.  The little bubbles are the cutest!

I have some wonderful news to share!  I am going to be a grandmother again!  I can’t wait!

A Quick & Simple Card

Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I have a confession.  I am a Designer Series Paper hoarder.  I have tons of it and I hardly ever use it.  Whenever a new catalog comes out I always make a resolution to use it all up.  It hasn’t happened in the past and it isn’t going to happen with this catalog either.  Honestly though, I think most stampers are hoarders so I don’t think I am alone.

The best part of using Designer Series Paper is you don’t have to do too much else to the card.  All I did was take a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Neutrals Color Collection and glue it to a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I colored the Thanks with a black Sharpie Marker, put it on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and added a few Candy Dots.  There isn’t even any stamping!  Simple as pie.

Balloon Celebration

If you know anything about me, you know I love balloons!  The best way to celebrate anyone’s birthday is by using balloons.  Now Stampin’ Up! has a new stamp set that is in the 2016 Occasions Catalog called Balloon Celebration.  It is a set that has 28 stamps in it.  The best part is it has a matching punch called Balloon Bouquet.  The punch has two different sized balloons and You can save 15% by purchasing the stamp set and punch in a bundle.  The Designer Series Paper that I used in this card is also in the new Occasions Catalog and is called It’s My Party.  It is a huge stack of paper (48 sheets!) and has all kinds of different birthday designs you will love.

Quick & Easy Christmas Card

Holly Jolly Greetings, Christmas Greetings Thinlits

Here is a quick and easy Christmas card you can make with a few scraps of Designer Series Paper and a couple of other items.  Sometimes I just need a card and don’t have a lot of time to make one so I love it when I can come up with a easy card that still looks nice.  I had some left over Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack so I didn’t need to cut anything.  I just used my Corner Rounder Punch to round the edges of one piece and adhered them to the Whisper White card stock.  I cut out the word Jolly from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Die set from a piece of scrap Whisper White.  I then stamped a couple of words from Holly Jolly Greetings (you can buy the stamp set and the Thinllits as a bundle as save 15%) and popped on a few Home For Christmas Enamel Dots.  The whole card took about 5 minutes!
