Meant To Be

Happy Valentine’s Day!

There are big changes coming to my life soon.  Some are a little scary. Some are sad and some are going to be fantastic!  All in all I think when the dust settles, it is going to be fun and exciting!

As some of you may know, I retired on December 31st as a Judge in my hometown.  My husband, Rob is retiring on February 29th from his job of 23 years.  We have always had this dream that when we retire we would buy a cottage on Lake Ontario for the summers and get a place in Sarasota, Florida for the winters.  We have had this plan for many, many years.  Three years ago we made the first part of that dream come true by purchasing a cottage.  We love the cottage.  It is our happy place.  If you follow my blog on a regular basis then you have seen my beautiful sunsets I get to enjoy every night.

Anyway, at that time we both figured that we would retire in 2020, sell our main house and go south for the winters.  My son, Sam, one day said to us that he thinks we should move to Nashville, TN to be near him, his wife and children.  He asked why move to Sarasota where you don’t know anyone when you could be near them?  Plus, my youngest son, Zachary and his family only live 4 hours from Nashville.   We thought about it for about ten minutes and said ok! It is actually the best of both worlds.  I would be near two of my sons and their families for about half a year and near my eldest son, David and his family the other half!

So, we. have spent the last couple of months getting our house ready to put on the market. I don’t know how we accumulated so much stuff!  It has been a hard job but we are almost ready.   The sad part is I have to put my stamp room away.  Sigh. I am hoping we find a house in Nashville that has a room I can use as my craft room!  Plus, I have been doing classes for the last 12 years and I have to end them.  These ladies have been a big part of my life and I am really sad to leave them.  I love being a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator and will miss them all.  I am hoping to set up some kind of online class in the future, though and I hope all of you will continue to use me as your Demonstrator.

So, in the meantime, I have been madly making cards to try to keep my blog going.   I am been writing blog posts like crazy.    When I realized that I had to put things away it meant I had to make 58 cards for 58 blog posts!   That is a lot of cards and posts to do in a short amount of time. I am apologizing ahead of time if I post something that may not be available due to supplies running out or if something is on backorder.   Buffy, Jackie and I have planned our Stamp Off Challenges to the end of May so I am able to participate in all of them.  I hope to be moving to the cottage in May where I will be able to stamp again.  In the meantime, my cards are definitely going to be CAS (clean and simple).

If you are still ready this you deserve a medal.  The card I made about using the stamp set called Meant To Be and the matching dies called Stitched Be Mine. Both of these products are in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  If you purchase these you would be eligible to get the Designer Series Paper I used on this card called Golden Honey Specialty for FREE! during Sale-a-bration!

I wish you all happiness and love.  Go hug someone today.  It can be someone in your family, your neighbor or a stranger.  Most everyone likes a hug every now and then.

Family Valentines

This is one of the cards I sent to some of my family members.  My sisters and my mother have always sent Valentines to each other.  It is a really nice tradition that we have been doing for years.  Sometimes my sisters even send me hand made cards, which are always my favorites!

This is a very simple and easy card to make.  I used the stamp set called Meant To Be and the matching dies called Stitched Be Mine.  The colors I used are Whisper White and Terracotta Tile (one of the 2019/2021 InColors).  I first stamped three hearts and cut them out using the coordinating die.  I layered these on top of a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock I had cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I used Dimensionals to pop them up.  The sentiment was punched out using the Classic Label Punch.  The Designer Series Paper is called Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP.  All of these products are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! It is the best time of year in the Stampin’ Up!® world. Beautiful Bouquet & Be Mine

Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day and the Be Mine Stitched Framelits can be used all year round.  I know some of you have purchased these dies and put them in the back of the pile after February 14th.  You don’t have to!  Here is an example of a birthday, wedding or any special day card using a heart from this set.

To make this card, I first stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Stitched All Around in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then I cut it out using one fo the hearts from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  I lightly traced around the heart with a pencil on another piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set around the pencil mark.  The colors I used were Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight.  I then added a few of the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins to give the sentiment a little color.  I added some Foam Adhesive strips to the back of the piece of cardstock with the image on it and layered it onto the Whisper White card base.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Did you know approximately 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine’s Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.  What better way to give a Valentine than to make one!

To make this card I used the stamp set called Meant To Be.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It has a set of matching dies called Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I know it is too late to purchase them for today but this set can be used for other occasions too.  The sentiments are great for anniversaries, weddings and friendship.  The dies are amazing.  They cut out regular hearts and stitched hearts that can all be layered together.  There are sixteen dies in the set.  It is a great value!  Plus if you buy the stamps and dies in a Bundle you will be eligible to get something free from the Sale-a-bration Catalog!

I first stamped the sentiment in Berry Burst Ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using two of the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  One die cuts out the scalloped heart and the inner heart.  The second die adds the stitching around the sentiment.  Then I cut out another heart in Berry Burst cardstock so I could layer them together.  The little hearts are actually a border die that cuts them out all at once.  I took one of the leftover hearts from this border and added it to the bottom of the sentiment heart.

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Animal Expedition.  I bet you didn’t expect that.  The ribbon is gorgeous.  It is 3/8″ Metallic Edged Ribbon in Berry Burst and has a silver edge to it.  It just adds a bit of sparkle.

Another Valentine!

Here is one more Valentine I made using the Meant To Be Stamp Set and the matching dies called Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  I am sure you can tell I have a lot of Valentines to make.  I send them to all my children, my grandchildren, my sisters and my mother.  I always thought Valentine’s Day was a great day to show everyone you care about that you are thinking of them. As they say, in my opinion, Valentine’s Day is not just for lovers.  Anytime I get in a card in the mail, it always makes me smile whether it is associated with a holiday or not.

To make this card I first ran a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock through my Big Shot using the Quilt Top Embossing Folder.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Berry Burst ink and cut it out using a heart die and then the border to go around the heart.  I cut the little border hearts die once in Whisper White cardstock and once in Berry Burst.  I layered them together off center so it would look a little 3D.  Lastly, I added the little hearts and the flower doohickey to the top of the heart.  I know that is a very technical name!

You still have a couple more days to get making some and send them to people you care about.

Meant To Be

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  I used products from the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  The stamp set is called Meant To Be.  It has matching dies called Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  These dies are so much fun because some of them are very different.  Some only do stitching and others cut out.  Here is a video that Stampin’ Up!® did showing you this stamp and die set.

The colors I used to make this card are Balmy Blue, Mint Macaron and So Saffron.  I wanted to show the club members that you don’t have to just use the usual Valentine colors and that this set can be used for more than just Valentines.

The background for this card was cut out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  I am warning you now.  You are going to see a lot of cards made with these dies.  They are awesome and my favorite thing in the Occasion Catalog.

Another great thing is if you buy the Meant To Be Bundle, you will be eligible to get free products from the 2019 Sale-a-bration Catalog!  There is nothing better than free!

Meant To Be

The of the great things that Stampin’ Up!® now does is to add dies to a set that do something different than just cut out an image.  Yes, of course, they cut out the images in the matching stamp set but they have also been including dies that do something different.

I made this card using the stamp set called Meant To Be from the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  This stamp set is perfect for Valentine’s Day.  It also has a set of matching dies called Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.  The fun thing is they also added some special dies to this set.  If you look at my card you will see the stitched scalloped edges on both sides of the All My Love Designer Series Paper.  That was done by a die in this set.  The other special thing is the heart itself was cut out using two separate dies.  One cut the stitching around the heart and the other cut the heart out.  Actually, there is a second thing that die does.  It cuts the heart and cut a stitched scallop around the heart.  I used it in this card (bottom right in Whisper White).  Isn’t that fun?!

The colors I used for this card are Lovely Lipstick and Whisper White.  I popped up the heart with Dimensionals and used a piece of 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon in Lovely Lipstick.

If you purchase the Meant To Be Bundle you can save 10% AND get a free item from the 2019 Sale-a-bration Catalog!  You can also get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 single or group order or Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $175 worth of products for $99  or get the Carry & Craft Tote and $175 worth of products for $129!

Favorite Occasions Catalog Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use our favorite product from the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  This was.a hard challenge because I love so many things from that catalog.  Geared Up Garage is my favorite stamp set with matching dies.  Oh wait, maybe it is Meant To Be.  Well, I do love that but Piece Of Cake is so cute yet, I love the big words in Life Is Grand.  Hence, this is my dilemma.  I had to do some thinking here and realized if I could only buy one thing from this catalog (can you imagine how awful that would be?) it would be the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.

The thing that is different than most other stitched rectangle dies is this set is meant to layer with each other and make frames.  Each die cuts a stitching in both the piece you are cutting out as well and the outside piece that is left so it leaves you with a frame with both edges stitched.

To make this card, I first cut out the frames using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies in Whisper White, Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral.  Then I used an Aqua Painter with Blushing Bride Ink and painted the background onto the Whisper White card base.  I stamped the hearts is Calypso Coral and then cut them out using the Meant To Be stamp set with the matching dies called Be Mine Stitched Framelits.  You can save 10% by purchasing these in a Bundle.  Then I just put it all together.

Now, let’s go see what are Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorites from this catalog.  Maybe they had an easier time picking out what to use but somehow I doubt that!
