Artistic Mix Decorative Masks

Stampin Up Artistic Mix

Stampin’ Up! has made some really nice Decorative Masks over the years.  For those who do not know, Decorative Masks are the same thing as stencils.  They are a lightweight plastic that you can lay on top of a piece of card stock to add designs to the background of your cards using ink.  The newest Decorative Masks they offer are called Artistic Mix.  There are five masks in the pack that can work together to make beautiful backgrounds.

To make this card I took two of the masks and layered them together.  I held them down with a piece of retired Washi Tape so they would not move when I was applying the ink.  I used Basic White card stock and Bermuda Bay ink using Blending Brushes.  By the way, if you buy multiple Blending Brushes you can have one for each color family.  I labeled the back of mine saying “blue”, “green”, “yellow”, etc so I don’t mix them up.

Here is a photo of what it looked like after I added the ink.

Next, I took off the masks and added some removal medical tape over the sections that had the Bermuda Bay ink and added some Orchid Oasis ink where the thicker lines were.

I turned the mask and repeated this step to finish the background.

Next, I used some stamps from the Framed Occasions stamp set.  I stamped the hexagon outline in Bermuda Bay ink and the sentiment in Orchid Oasis ink.  Then I cut it out using the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  After that, I cut out a piece of Basic White and Orchid Oasis card stock using two dies from the Frosted Flurry die set.  I cut them in half because they were not quite as long as I wanted them to be.  I layered one on top of the other and adhered it to the background.  Lastly, I added the hexagon with the sentiment on top using Dimensionals.

Isn’t that a fun background?

Rings Of Love

Stampin Up Rings Of Love

As you already know, it is Sale-a-bration time at Stampin’ Up!.  This is when you can earn free products with a qualifying sale.  Some of the free products you can earn with a $50 order and others can be earned with a $100 order. There are stamps, dies and Designer Series Paper available.

One of the items you can get for free with a $50 order is the Rings Of Love Designer Series Paper.  This paper coordinates with the Ringed With Nature Bundle in the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog (page for 62) but you can also use it with other products too.

For this card, I first cut a 3.5″ x 4.75″ piece of the Rings Of Love DSP.  I layered that onto So Saffron card base.  Then I cut the frame out in Evening Evergreen card stock using the Fabulous Frames Dies.  I love these dies!  There are six different dies in the set.  Three of them cut out a shape to use as a frame, one cuts out a sentiment and the other two cut out fancy corners.  All of them cut and emboss the card stock.  I layered the frame on top of the piece of DSP.

Next, I cut out the hexagon using the Beautiful Shapes Dies in Evening Evergreen card stock.  This die set includes 14 different fun dies and coordinates with the Framed Occasions stamp set.  Next, I ran one of the leaves from the Leaf Label & Amber Gem Combo Pack through my Cut & Emboss machine using the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder.  This gave the leaf some texture.  I adhered that to the Hexagon using Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Heron Habitat.  I stamped it in Evening Evergreen ink onto a small piece of So Saffron card stock and then cut it out using a miscellaneous die.   Lastly, I added a few Amber Gems.

Don’t forget there are a lot more items available to get for free in the Sale-a-bration Catalog plus the items they added last week (you can see them HERE).

Framed Occasions

Stampin Up Framed Occasions

You have all seen posts where I mention my friend, Buffy.  She was part of the BS & J Stamp Off Challenges but we had been friends for a long time before that.  At first, we were just virtual friends.  That lasted quite a few years.  Although I had never met Buffy in person I still felt like she was one of my closest friends.  Eventually, we met at a Stampin’ Up!® Convention and we bonded even more.  We have now been to a lot of events together and each one is more fun than the next.  The only problem is we have been known to say something to each other and start one of those laughing fits where you just can not stop.  By the time we were finally under control, we couldn’t always remember what was so funny.

In any case, years ago Buffy and I decided that we always had too much ribbon leftover when they retired so we decided to do a “product share” together.  She would buy three rolls of ribbon and I would buy a different three rolls and then we would send each other half. It is a great way to get all different kinds of ribbons and maybe even use up a couple of rolls (that is not true but it is a nice thought!).  This year we expanded our product shares to Designer Series Paper and embellishments because we always had an excess of unused every year.  It is kind of fun because she picks some products that I would not have chosen and I hope I do the same for her.

One of the Designer Series Paper packs Buffy shared is called Pretty Prints.  I am not sure I would have chosen this one on my own but I am so glad she did.  One side of this paper has beautiful flower images and the other has splatters.  I decided I wanted to use this paper on a card and this is what I came up with.

I took a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of the Calypso Coral/Petal Pink splatter paper and layered it onto a Petal Pink card base.

Next, I used the stamp set called Framed Occasions.  It is a new set that is in the 2022/2023 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It coordinates with a set of dies called Beautiful Shapes.  Beautiful Shapes is in the January – June Mini Catalog which is retiring at the end of this month.  The stamp set that was part of a bundle with these dies is retiring but the dies themselves are carried over into the new Annual Catalog.  I first stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink onto a piece of Petal Pink card stock and cut it out using one of the Beautiful Shapes dies.  Then I cut out a larger-sized hexagon to layer it on.  Next, I cut out a bunch of different-sized hexagons.  Some of them I used whole but took a couple of them and cut out the middle so they looked like frames.  I randomly placed them on the card.  There are various other shapes included in the Beautiful Shapes die set including diamonds, circles and some wonky dies meant to cut out sentiments.

Cup Of Tea

Stampin Up Cup Of Tea

Here is another card where I let Stampin’ Up!® beautiful Designer Series Paper do all the talking (I did another one last Monday).  DSP is a perfect way to make a card when you are in a hurry but still want to send something nice.  This time I used the Tea Boutique 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.  I love that lemon pattern.  I remember when Stampin’ Up!® had a lemon stamp set during Sale-a-bration that I used a lot and still have.  The Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper is part of the Tea Boutique Suite in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  The suite also includes the Cup of Tea stamp set, Teacup Dies and the Tea Boutique Cards and Envelopes.  You can buy the entire suite with one item number or buy each item separately.  If you just want the stamp set and the dies make sure you use the bundle number so you can save 10%.  By the way, if you do buy the entire suite, it includes the 10% discount on the stamps and dies.

Again, this card was super easy to make.  I just adhered a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of the Tea Boutique paper onto a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Garden Green card stock and an A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) Basic White card base.  Then I added a 1″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Daffodil Delight and a 1/4″ x 5 1/8″ of Garden Green card stock.  I like using 1/4″ strips of card stock when I don’t have ribbon in a  particular color.   I stamped the sentiment from the Cup Of Tea stamp set in Garden Green ink and cut it out using the Beautiful Shapes die set.  I layered that on top of a another hexagon in Garden Green.  I layered that onto the card using Dimensionals.  Lastly, I cut out the little lemon slice and flower by hand to add a little accent to the  sentiment

I am very excited that a few ladies from the stamp club I used to have when we lived in New York year round are coming tonight for a stampin’ get together!   I. have three projects I have designed for them to put together.  They are such a great group of ladies and we always have such a good time.  I’ll show you the projects we make over the next week or two.

2022 2023 New Incolors

Stampin Up InColors

I decided to make a quick and easy card using all the new Stampin’ Up!® 2022 2023 InColors.  These colors will be available beginning on May 3rd.  You can get ink pads, card stock, Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin Blends, 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and ink refills in these beautiful colors.  Starting at the top of this card the first colors is called Orchid Oasis (my favorite), Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Starry Sky.  They are all beautiful and go so well together.

I didn’t want to make a busy, complicated card to show you these new colors so I just cut out each hexagon using the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  These dies are in the the 2022 January – June Mini Catalog.  They coordinate with the stamp set called Hello Beautiful.  Hello Beautiful is retiring at the end of that catalog (June 30th) but Stampin’ Up!® is offering a new stamp set called Framed Occasions that will coordinate with these dies.  I adhered the hexagons to a piece of Smoky Slate and Basic White card stock and on a Basic Gray card base.  I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink.  It is from the stamp set called Plentiful Plants.  Lastly I added a few Classic Matte Dots.

Remember you still have until May 2nd to order any in stock retiring products.  After that, they will no longer be available.  These new InColors will be available to order on May 3rd.  You are going to love them!

On a side note, my first grandchild, Madelyn turned seven today!  I just can not believe how grown up she is.  The best part of her is she is a very happy, kind and caring young girl.  She makes us very proud.  Happy birthday, Maddie.  We love you!
