Friend Like You

Friend Like You is a stamp set that is in the 2019/2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It has a matching set of dies called Friendly Silhouettes and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle un June 2nd.  Both of these items will be in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog but the bundle discount will not be available.  The stamp set is a two step stamp set which means it takes two or more stamps to make an image.

The colors I used on this card are Whisper White, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana.  I really like how well they go together.  They remind me of summer and warm weather (which we have yet to see!).   I first stamped the stems onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Granny Apple Green.  Then I used my Stampin Write Markers to color the flowers on the second stamp using Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather.  Then I cut that out using the the tag from Bonanza Dies set.  Sadly, this die set and the matching stamp set called Bonanza Buddies are retiring on June 2nd.  I cut the rest of the rectangles out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  The Cat Tails are a die from Friendly Silhouettes.

Bonanza Buddies

Life has certainly changed in the last month or so.  We have been staying at home for almost five weeks.  We go for rides every now and then and we walk outside every day (weather permitting) so it hasn’t been too bad.  I think the hardest part of this whole thing has been that Rob has been working from home now.  This is what his “office” looks like:

Yes, that used to be my dining room.  You can see the shelves are pretty empty due to packing things up.  There is no door on this room but Rob makes me knock on the wall before entering anyway.  I am sure there are many, many, many people out there with the same set up.  At least he still has a job.  We are very thankful and very fortunate in that.

I made this card using the Birthday Bonanza Suite that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  This bundle includes the Bonanza Buddies stamp set and the matching Bonanza Dies, Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper, Ribbon, Assorted Pompoms and Gusseted Cellophane Bags.  You can order the entire Suite with one code or order each item separately.  When you order the stamp set and dies as a Bundle, you can save 10%.

To make this card I first used a card base of Whisper White cardstock.  I layered two pieces of the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper on top of a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock and adhered that to the base.  I stamped the sentiment in Terracotta Tile ink and cut it out using the stitched tag die from the Bonanza Dies.  The tag dies even cuts out the little slot at the top.  I stamped the Koala in Smoky Slate and Memento Black ink and the balloon in Terracotta Tile Ink.  I added the Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon with a piece of Grapefruit Grove twine from the Nature’s Twine Pack.

Bonanza Buddies Birthday

I have to say, my taste in stamp sets has certainly changed since I got grandchildren.  Some of them are old enough to send cards to and none of them would want a flowered card.  I had to broaden my horizons and start looking at stamp sets that children and young at heart adults would like even if I did not.  This was not the case with the Birthday Bonanza Suite.  I loved that little Toucan the minute I saw him.  Maybe it is because I went to the rain forest in Costa Rica and saw a real Toucan.  The rain forest was beautiful and so was all the wildlife we saw.

To make this card I first stamped the Toucan in Memento Black Ink and the Koala in Smoky Slate.  I have a great hint when you need to stamp a good solid image:  use your Stamparatus. That way, you can stamp it multiple times in the same position to get good coverage.  There is not a splotch of white to be seen on my images.  I colored the Toucan’s beak using Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut out both figures using the matching Bonanza Dies (you can save 10% by purchasing the stamp set and dies in a Bundle). I cut out the pennants and balloons and stamped the boxes also in Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody and then layered everything together.

Happy Birthday, Sam.  I hope you have a terrific day!

Grandchildren Valentines

I made these Valentines for three out of four grandchildren this year.  I will admit I did not make one for Olivia.  It is not because I don’t love her but she is only 8 months old and I think she would just eat it.  Everything goes in her mouth.  Then I would feel bad because she ate something that might not be so good for her.  Plus she might get Highland Heather Ink on her face and her parents probably wouldn’t like that.  I figure a grand has to be at least 2 before they get cards from me.  Until then, they just get lots of hugs and kisses.

To start with, I used the Note Cards & Envelopes that are in the 2020 Annual Catalog.  The cards are 3 1/2″ x 5 and you get 20 cards and 20 envelopes in the pack.  They come in Whisper White (I used this one for the Toucan card) or Very Vanilla (which I used for the elephant cards).

The top Valentine is for Nolan.  I used  the stamp set called Bonanza Buddies and the matching dies called Bonanza Dies.  They are part of the Birthday Bonanza Suite that are in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog and you can save 10% if you purchase them in a Bundle.  The Suite also includes a ribbon, tiny little pompoms and gusseted cellophane bags.  This Suite is perfect for birthday parties and valentines!

To make Nolan’s card I first cut the tag out in Mango Melody cardstock using one of the dies from the Bonanza Dies.  I cut the Toucan out of the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper.  I love that the dies match some of the designs in this DSP.  The heart balloons are from a retired punch (sorry about that) and the sentiment is from the stamp set called Meant To Be.  It is in the Annual Catalog.

The next card was the one I made for Madelyn and Emy.  I used the Little Elephant stamp set and the Elephant Builder Punch.  I stamped the larger elephant in Highland Heather ink and the smaller one in Blushing Bride. Both granddaughters love sparkly things so I used some Wink of Stella on the heart and the elephants.  Every girl needs a little sparkle in their lives
