A Color Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today we are having another Stamp Off Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge!

It took me a while to figure out what stamp set to use for this challenge.  I decided to use a set that hasn’t received much use lately called Bike Ride.  I think this is a fun stamp set and it has a matching set of dies called Build A Bike Framelits.  It also made these crazy colors easier to use.

To make this card I first stamped all the bicycle parts in Blackberry Bliss ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut them out using the dies.  Then I stamped the books in Smoky Slate ink and colored them using my Blackberry Bliss, Mango Melody and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Markers.  I also colored the handle bars, seat and pedal using the Mango Melody Marker.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Nature’s Poem.  It is in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Well Said.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using these colors.  I always look forward to seeing their take on our challenges.

A Stamp Off Color Challenge

Hello everyone!  Thanks for joining us again on our bi-weekly Stamp Off Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge.

Now, I am not sure if Buffy or Jackie gave us these colors but I do have to admit I had a hard time using them.  They are definitely outside of my comfort zone but after a lot of trial and error, I managed to make this card.

I used the stamp set called Bike Ride.  This set has matching Framelits called Build a Bike and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle. The thing I love about this set is  there is a matching Framelit for every piece of the bike.  Plus, the stamp set is a two-step stamp set which means it takes two or more stamps to make an image.  For example, the flower outline is one stamp, the flowers are another and the leaves are a third.  When I was making this card, I tried a bunch of different color combinations for the bike.  This one seemed to work the best.

Then I needed to work on the background.  I tried it with just plain cardstock but it looked too boring.  Then I tried using an Embossing Folder but it didn’t quite look right so I decided to use the Embossing Paste with the brick Decorative Mask.  I like how that turned out much better.

The sentiment is from Eastern Beauty.

Now let’s go see how Buffy and Jackie did with this color combination.

Bike Ride

Many years ago I worked for a company that owned a Bike Shop.  This was back when you could buy a Huffy at Kmart or a Schwinn at a local bike shop.  Of course, I was a bike snob because of working there.  We had one mechanic that was amazing.  Dennis rarely spoke to anyone but he could put a bike together or fix a bike in no time at all.  One day I asked him if he would teach me how to put a bike together.  Amazingly enough, he agreed to teach me.  Now normally it would take a couple of hours for him to put one together.  It took me all day!  You would not believe how many parts there are to a bicycle!  Believe me, when you first open that box there are parts everywhere!  Very little comes put together.  Dennis was great and so patient.  He didn’t even swear once though I think his eyeballs could have fallen out of his sockets from all the eye rolls he did!  Of course, I could never do it now but it was fun to do, once, back then.

Bike Ride is one of those fun stamp sets that you can do a lot with.  The set has 24 different Photopolymer stamps which include the bike, wheels, flowers, a basket, books, apples and even a dog.  It is a two step stamp set which means it take two or more stamps to make an image.  It is super easy to line up because they stamp are Photopolymer which means you can see through them.  It is a lot easier to put this bike together than a real one!  Plus, to top it all off, this stamp set has matching Framelits called Build A Bike which include 15 dies.  If you buy them in a Bundle you can save 10%.  That is a lot of bang for your buck!

The banner is from Bunch Of Banners Framelits Dies and sentiment is from Banners For You.  These two items also coordinate together.

An Embossing Paste Challenge

Hello everyone.  Welcome to another BS & J Productions Stamp Off Challenge.  Today’s challenge is to make something using the new Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste.  If you haven’t tried this, you really need to.  It is different than other embossing pastes because it dries quickly.  You are going to love it!

My daughter-in-law to be has decided to go back to school to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  I am so proud of her doing this.  It is going to be a challenge for her since she works full time, has a 5 month old baby (Emory Jade whom you have all met) and all the other things that need to get done in life.  I decided to send her a card telling her how proud I am.

I thought the stamp set called Bike Ride would be perfect for this.  It has a set of matching Framelits called Build A Bike (you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle).  Although, she is not a kid, school, bikes, books and apples all go together.  I used the Embossing Paste to make a brick road.  To get this color I added one drop of Cherry Cobbler Ink and one drop of Cajun Craze Ink.  Stampin’ Up! sells the Pattern Party Decorative Masks in four different designs (one of which is the brick pattern).  They also sell a package of three different Palette Knives to use with the Paste.

The sentiment is from Wild About Flowers.  I masked off the different lines so I could stamp them in different places.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made using the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste.

Bike Ride

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly Club meeting.  It uses the stamp set called Bike Ride.  This stamp set has matching Framelits called Build A Bike.  I love this set and most of my club members did too.  First of all, it has this adorable bike.  Then it has all these accessories that go with the bike.  There is a basket that you can put flowers or apples in it.  There is a dog and books.  All of these images are two step stamping which means you use two stamps to make one image.  That means you can use different colors without having to mask or use markers.  If you buy both the stamp set and the dies in a Bundle you can save 10%!

The Designer Series Paper we used is called Fresh Florals.  It has 40 sheets of double sided designs in all the 2017-2019 In Colors.

Bike Ride

Bike Ride is one of the cutest sets in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  The fun thing about this set is all the pieces of the bike are separate so you can easily use different colors to make it.  The tires are separate from the rims so it was easy to stamp the tires in Memento Tuxedo Black and the rims in Bermuda Bay.  The same goes for all the pieces.  This is because this is a two step stamp set which mean many of the images are made using two stamps instead of one.  This stamp set also has matching Framelits so it is easy to cut everything out.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle too!  Plus, the images you can put on the back or front of the bicycle are adorable.  There is a dog, apples, flowers and books.  Each of them are two step stamps.  Another interesting thing about this set is the pebbles on the road is a die that embosses instead of cuts.

The sentiment is from a stamp set called Colorful Seasons.

Don’t forget Bonus Days are almost over.  For every $50 you spend you get a $5 coupon to use in August.  There is no limit to how many coupons you can earn.
