Longing For Sunshine

I suppose every place you live (well except maybe Hawaii) has its good weather and its bad weather.  Right now is the hardest time of year for us.  I don’t think I have seen the sun in weeks (or months) and it is very dreary.  Today it is pouring rain so the world is a big slushy, muddy mess.  Ask me again in July or August and I will have a whole different outlook.  It is so beautiful up here during the summer months.  I just wish they lasted longer!

This dreary weather made me think of Florida and wishing I was there.  It would be awesome to be sitting on the beach, under the tiki bar awning and having a Pina Colada.  The best I could do is come up with a card that represents that idea.

I made this card using a bunch of different products and stamp sets.  The glass is cut out of Color Theory Designer Series Paper using the Coffee Cups Framelits.  The umbrella is from Weather Together and Umbrella Weather Framelits.  The orange is from the stamp set called Lemon Zest and punched out using the matching Lemon Builder Punch.  The seagulls are from High Tide and last but not least, the sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  It just goes to show you that Stampin’ Up! products are great to mix and match!

Now let’s just hope for better weather soon!

Merry Cafe

This is the first card we made at our monthly club meeting in December.  It uses a stamp set from the Holiday Catalog, another from the Annual Catalog and the matching set of dies.  This is what I love most about Stampin’ Up!.  Everything matches which takes the guess work out of it for you.  The two stamp sets we used are Coffee Cafe and Merry Cafe.  The dies are called Coffee Cups.  Coffee Cafe and Coffee Cups are in the Annual Catalog and part of a suite.  If you buy both of them in a Bundle you can save 10%.  Merry Cafe is in the Holiday Catalog and also fits the Coffee Cups dies.

The background of the card was made with Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Then we added a few sequins for a little sparkle because everyone needs a little sparkle in their life!

An Embossing Folder Stamp Off Challenge

Good morning!  I hope your Friday is going to be fabulous!  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge was to use our favorite Embossing Folder.

As of today, my favorite Embossing Folder is the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I say “as of today” because my favorite stamp set, dies, color and embossing folders change on a weekly basis.  It is hard to pick a favorite when there are so many fantastic Stampin’ Up! products to choose from!

Of course it is Fall right now so my favorites colors are from the Regal Family.  I used Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango.  As of today my favorite stamp set is Merry Cafe and my favorite dies are Coffee Cups Framelits.  Why?  They are the newest in my collection and new is always fun.

Whenever I made a card I end up changing it, adding different things to it and taking things away.  As a result of this, I have a bunch of pre-cut shapes which is where I got the pumpkin and leaf from.  The pumpkin is from Pick A Pumpkin and it’s matching Thinlits called Patterned Pumpkins.  The leaf is from the stamp set Colorful Season with its matching Thinlits called Seasonal Layers.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite Embossing Folder is.

Coffee Cafe

I don’t drink coffee.  I have never had a cup of coffee in my life.  I know.  Weird.   My two sisters do not drink it either.  I think it is because neither of my parents drank coffee so we weren’t really exposed to it growing up. I also admit that when we go out for dinner with friends, I get impatient when they order coffee.  I know.  Another weird thing.

The thing is though I really like the stamp set called Coffee Cafe.  I swore I would never get it because I didn’t drink coffee but my friend Deborah (a Canadian demonstrator) posted a card a couple of weeks ago that was adorable.  I was hooked.  She is such an enabler because she is so talented.  You can check out her website HERE.  Coffee Cafe has a set of matching Framelits called Coffee Cups and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

The Designer Series Paper I used is called Pick A Pattern.  Don’t forget that during the month of October Designer Series Paper is buy three get one FREE!

If you look closely at my card you will see I made a coffee, a tea and a hot chocolate.  I figured that covered all the bases.  I didn’t realize that I even made this card using Starbucks colors until Rob mentioned it.  That was not on purpose since the only time I go to Starbucks is if I am with Rob in an airport and the only thing I ever get is water and Lemon Poundcake (it’s delicious!).
