Another Mystery Parts

We participated in another Mystery Parts. This is where one of us sends some Stampin’ Up!® products to the others and we make cards out of them. The only rules are all the parts have to be Stampin’ Up!® products (retired or current) and we have to use all the products sent to us. We can add some of our own products if we wish.

These are the parts that Karin sent us this month:

Stampin Up Mystery Parts

I am not sure of the names of these products since they are all retired but they included a Very Vanilla card base, a piece of Rings Of Nature Designer Series Paper (that has leaves and acorns on the other side), a piece of Pretty Peacock card stock (I think that is the name) and a string of pink Baker’s Twine.

Stampin Up Cottage Wreaths

First of all, it is funny that we all used the leaf/acorn side of the Designer Series Paper. I remember this paper (although not the name of it) and I loved it when it was current.

I decided to use it with the Cottage Wreaths bundle that is in the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog. This bundle includes the stamp set as well as the Country Wreaths dies. The stamp set is a DisINKtie stamp set which means that each stamp creates different opacities in a single stamp which brings depth to the image. You can especially see how this works if you look at the acorn. The top of the acorn is darker than the bottom even though I only used one ink on it.

I stamped the wreath in Pretty Peacock ink (which is retired but still a favorite of mine) and cut it out using the coordinating die. Then I stamped the berries in Sweet Sorbet ink and the acorns in Soft Suede. I adhered the acorns and the berries to the wreath using Multipurpose Glue. I stamped the sentiment in the middle using Sweet Sorbet ink. Lastly, I decided to change the color of the Baker’s Twine by coloring it with a Sweet Sorbet Stampin Blends. That is one of the reasons I love Blends. You can color ribbon and embellishments using them.

Our next Mystery Parts challenge will be in December. I am looking forward to it. I love how each card comes out so differently even though we are using the same products.

Cottage Wreaths

Stampin Up Cottage Wreath

It has been a couple of busy weeks for us and will probably continue for a while. As you know, we left the cottage and we are now in Nashville. Then Rob left for a week for a conference in Austin. I spent the week putting our belongings away and setting up my stamp room. Last weekend was my grandson’s (Jackson’s) second birthday. My son and his family live in Montgomery, Alabama so we went there to celebrate. This week my other grandson, Nolan, has no school so he has been spending his time with me (which has been a lot of fun). Then this coming weekend is Nolan’s fifth birthday. I did manage to make a couple of cards in between all of that.

I made this card using the stamp set called Cottage Wreaths. This stamp set is in the July – December Mini Catalog and there is a set of coordinating dies called Country Wreaths. If you use the bundle item number when ordering you can save 10%. I first stamped the wreath in Evening Evergreen Ink and cut it out using the coordinating die. Then I used the Dots & Spots die to cut out the berries and the bow in Real Red card stock. I used the Split Textures dies set to cut out a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Basic White card stock. This is one of my favorite background dies because it adds so much interest to your card. I layered everything on top of a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Soft Succulent card stock and an Evening Evergreen card base. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink.

Stampin Up Cottage Wreaths

In case you can not tell, I love wreaths. I love real wreaths. I have one for every season on my front door in Nashville and I have one on the door of my cottage. I love wreath stamps and dies too. I don’t think there is one set of wreaths that Stampin’ Up!® has offered that I do not own. How can you not love them? They are good for every season and every occasion. Plus they are just darn pretty!

I decided to use the Cottage Wreath bundle on a slimline card. Part of the reason is I love slimline cards but also because a regular A2 card (4.25″ x 5.5″) could only fit two of the wreaths on it and I wanted to make a card using wreaths for all seasons. My slimline card is 3.5″ x 8.5″. Of course, I wanted to use four wreaths (one for each season) but it would have made a ridiculously long card so I settled on three.

This stamp set has coordinating dies called Country Wreaths and if you purchase them in a bundle you can save 10%.

To make the Spring/Summer wreath, I stamped it in Granny Apple Green ink. Then I stamped the flowers from the Cup Of Tea Bundle (which includes the Teacup Dies) in Daffodil Delight Ink and cut them out. Unfortunately, the Cottage Wreath stamp set does not have flowers (which is ok because Stampin’ Up!® has a lot of flowers to choose from), I layered the flowers on the wreath using Mini Dimensionals.

Next, I made the Autumn Wreath. I did this by using my Stamparatus and Stampin’ Write Markers (Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry). I randomly colored the wreath with these colors. The Stamparatus worked great because I could re-color the areas that I missed the first, second and maybe the third time I inked the stamp because the paper and stamp stay in the same place. Then, I stamped the acorns in Soft Suede and cut them out using the coordinating die. I also adhered them to the wreath using the Mini Dimensionals.

The winter wreath was next. I stamped that in Evening Evergreen ink. I stamped the berries in Cherry Cobbler ink, cut them out using the coordinating die and adhered them using the Mini Dimensionals too. I decided against a sentiment on this card because I could not decide what to use. When I send the card to someone, I will add the sentiment.

Cottage Wreaths

Stampin Up Cottage Wreaths

Last weekend we took my son, David, Brittany and their children on a boat ride. It was the first day that they came to visit when it wasn’t super windy and rough so it was a good day to take my grandchildren on the boat. Olivia is three years old and full of smiles and sass (as every three year old can be). Madison is almost eight months old and is the sweetest baby. When most babies are happy they smile and coo. Madison smiles and screeches. It is the funniest thing. Olivia loved the boat and had a huge smile on her face the whole time. Madison pretty much slept through the whole ride. Afterward, we all went for a swim in the lake. We bought one of those floating mats and the kids love it.

This is a fun card I made using only dies (no stamps). It was pretty simple to make and did not take a long time at all. I first cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Hues Of Happiness Designer Series Paper and adhered it to a Flirty Flamingo card base. Then I took the Country Wreaths die set and cut one wreath in Basic White card stock and another in the Hues Of Happiness DSP. I layered these on top of each other and onto the card. I cut the bow out of the same DSP and layered that on the wreath. Lastly, I cut the sentiment out using the Amazing Thanks die set.
