Stampin Up Forever Fern

Last week I was thinking to myself how happy I was to be enjoying this beautiful 75 degree weather in Nashville.  It was sunny and warm.  I was wearing shorts and sitting outside just enjoying the sunshine and warmth.  Then BOOM!  The next day it was in the 40s during the day and the 20s at night!  Can we rewind?  I guess the good thing is now that it is cold I won’t worry about spending time in my stamp room instead of being outside.

I made this card using the stamp set called Forever Fern.  This set has been around for a couple of years which makes me happy.  I think it is very pretty.  There is a set of coordinating dies called Forever Flourishing.  Unfortunately, you can not get the bundle discount since they have been around for a while but even without the discount, they are still worth it.  By the way, this is a reminder because the special bundle pricing that Stampin’ Up!® offers is only good for the first time products are in a catalog.  If they are carried over, the bundle discount goes away.

To make this card I first stamped all the leaves and berries in Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss and Soft Sea Foam ink.  If you look closely you will notice there are different shades of color in each of the images.  That is because this stamp set is a DisINKtive stamp set.  Each stamp has different opacities so you have darker and lighter areas with just one stamp.  After stamping them I cut them out using the dies.

Next, I used a Water Painter to add some color to a piece of Basic White card stock using Soft Seafoam ink. All you need to do is put some ink from a refill bottle onto the inside of the lid of a stamp pad, squeeze the Water Painter to add water to the ink and brush onto a piece of cardstock.   After that dried, I adhered the leaves and berries.  Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Framed Florets stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink.  This set is part of a pre-release that Stampin’ Up!® offered.  It will be available in the January – April 2023 Mini Catalog.  I cut it out using the Stylish Shapes Dies and adhered it to the card using Dimensionals.  Lastly, I added some Classic Matte Dots.

Teacup Dies

Stampin Up Cup Of TeaI just wanted to let you know that the next couple of weeks of posts may be shorter than usual.  It is that time of year that I need to start packing up my things to go back to Nashville for the winter.  The cottage is my favorite place to be but it is not winterized which means it would be mightily chilly to live in during the winter months.  Actually, I don’t even think it would be humanly possible to do so.  Therefore, I need to write a few blog posts way ahead of time.  So, I apologize if my posts are short but sweet!

I can not believe it is the last day of August already!  I am not sure where the summer went but it sure flew by.  The saying “days go by slowly but years fly” is definitely a true one.  It is ok though.  Fall is my second favorite season (with summer being my first) because the days are still a bit warm, with cool nights and beautiful colors.

I had a hard time deciding what the title of this post should be.  I used one stamp set, three sets of dies and an embossing folder to make it.  It is not a hard card to make.  It just took a lot of products.  That is ok, though!  I love that you can mix and match Stampin’ Up!® products and they all look so good together.

When I made this card I originally wanted to use the Cup Of Tea stamp set with the coordinating Teacup dies.  As you can see, I just ended up using the dies.  I cut the cup out using the Teacup Dies, Sahara Sand card stock and my Cut & Emboss machine.  Then I cut out the leaf design using Basis White card stock and adhered them together using Multipurpose Glue.  This glue is great for attaching die cuts that are thin.  Next, I cut out the leaves using the Forever Flourishing die set in Basic White and Soft Succulent card stock.  I embossed a 3.5″ x 4.74″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock using the Gingham Embossing Folder.  I took two of the Deckled Rectangle dies and used them to cut out a frame in Basic White.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Sending Flowers in Sahara Sand ink.  Lastly, I added a piece of white Baker’s twine from the Essentials Pack.

Stampin Up Forever Fern

Sometimes when a new Stampin’ Up!®  catalog comes out I get so excited for new products I forget about the older sets.  Those poor products sit on a shelf feeling very forgotten.  When I was packing up my supplies to bring to the cottage I looked through all my current sets to see which ones I want to bring and I come across some that have been neglected for a while.

Forever Fern is one of those sets.  It is a beautiful set with a bunch of different branches of leaves, some berries and a few sentiments.  It also has a coordinating die set called Forever Flourishing.  You can’t get the bundle savings anymore because Stampin’ Up!® only offers that deal on new products but this stamp and die set are worth the extra.  Sometimes Stampin’ Up!® comes out the new products that coordinate with the older ones.  This time they have a new embossing folder called Fern.  It pairs perfectly with Forever Fern.

To make this card, I first ran a piece of Basic White card stock through my Cut & Emboss machine using the Fern embossing Folder.  Then I layered that on top of a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock and a Basic White card base.  Next I stamped one set of leaves in Pale Papaya ink and the berries in Fresh Freesia.  Then I used the dies from the Forever Flourishing set in Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I layered everything together.  Next I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Artistically Inked in Pear Pizzazz ink and layered that on top using Dimensionals.

My suggestion today is to go through your stash of stamp sets and pull out a few of the older sets.  It will make them so happy to be used again!

Adding Color To Die Cuts With Blends

Jackie (of BS & J Productions fame) shared a video with me showing how you can add color to die cuts to make them look beautiful.  I decided I loved the way the die cuts came out so I wanted to make a card using this technique.  It is a very easy and fast way to add color to your die cuts. You could use Stampin’ Up!® Write Markers or Stampin’ Up!® Blends.

The firs thing I did was to cut the leaves using a die from the set called Forever Flourishing in Basic White card stock.  I used Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Cider Light and Dark Stampin’ Up!® Blends to add the color.  I basically just dabbed each color randomly on the front and the back of the die cut.  I started with the lightest color and worked to the darkest.  I started with the Light Daffodil Delight and then added the Dark Daffodil Delight.

Then I used the Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie.

After that I added Cajun Craze and a little Cinnamon Cider around the edges.  I then took the Light Daffodil Delight and blended all the colors together to smooth them out a bit.  I kept doing this until I was happy with the colors.

After that I layered it on top of a piece of Basic White card stock that I had cut out using a die from Nature’s Thoughts using Multipurpose Glue.  I adhered that to a larger piece of Cajun Craze card stock.  I used a Basic White card base and ran the front of it through my Cut ‘N Emboss machine using the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.  I added the sentiment (Pinkfresh) using Stampin’ Up!® Dimensionals.  Lastly I added some Sequins For Everything.

Stampin Up Forever Fern

The Forever Fern stamp set has been around for a while but it is still one of my favorite sets.  I really love the different leaf and berry stamps in this set.  It is also a DisINKtive stamp set which means you can get different opacities with just one stamp.  If you look at the images above you can see how there are some light sections and dark sections.  They are all done with just one stamp. I used Highland Heather, Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Polished Pink inks.

To make this card I first stamped all the different leaves and berries.  Then I cut them out using the coordinating die set called Forever Flourishing.  This die set has 14 different dies in it.  Some cut out the images in the stamp set and other cut out different leaf shapes.  I adhered all the different leaves and the berries using Multipurpose glue.  I stamped the sentiments (Opposites Attract from The Greetery) in Memento ink, cut them out using the coordinating dies and adhered the larger sentiment using Dimensionals.

Good morning everyone.  Today is another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  We were talking about challenges and one of us asked if we should use a specific stamp set since we really have never done that before.  I know sometimes two of us may end up using the same but we have never planned that.  Forever Fern was the only set we all owned so we went with that.

The stamp set called Forever Fern is part of a Suite called Forever Greenery.  This suite also includes the coordinating dies called Forever Flourishing (you can save 10% by purchasing the stamp set and the dies in a bundle), gorgeous Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper, two embossing folders, ribbon and the very cute Gold Hoops I used on this project.

For me, one of the hardest parts of making a card is choosing the colors.  I usually go with the same old ones but lately I have been trying new combinations.  This time I used Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow and Rococo Rose.  I first took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and embossed it using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  I love how embossing folders add some dimension to the background of a card.  Then I stamped all the images and cut them out using my brand new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.  I love that thing!

Next I embossed the sentiment on Mossy Meadow cardstock using Versamark and White Stampin Emboss Powder.  Then I cut it out using a die from Tasteful Labels.  I used Multipurpose Glue to attach the Gold Hoop to the cardstock and dimensionals to attach the other images.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy did with this amazing Bundle.  I am sure I am going to have to CASE (Copy & Share Everything) their designs.

Stampin Up Forever Fern

This is a very simple card using the Stampin’ Up!® stamp set called Forever Fern.  This stamp set has matching dies called Forever Flourishing and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  It is one of my favorite stamp sets in the new Annual Catalog.  It has five different branches of leaves plus a set of berries, a splatter and four sentiments included in it.  There are 14 dies that cut out all the branches and berries plus it has a bunch of other dies that cut out fun leaves and designs.

Both the stamp set and the dies are part of a Suite called Forever Greenery.  This suite also has Designer Series Paper called Forever Greenery that is gorgeous.  On one side there are various leaf patterns and on the other side are other patterns such as the one I used on this card.  The colors use almost all the greens we have in our inks so everything can match.

To make this card I first stamped the leaves and berries and then cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I stamped the sentiment and cut that out using a die from Tasteful Labels.  I layered all this on top of the piece of Forever Greenery DSP, a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock and a card base of Just Jade.

Forever Greenery

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge was to use our favorite Designer Series Paper.  This was probably the hardest challenge we have had in a long time.  Why you ask?  Because I truly haveTHREE favorite DSPs.  I love Flowers For Every Season because it is bright and cheery.  It has flower patterns on one side and designs on the other.  I also love Peony Garden for the total opposite reason I love Flowers For Every Season.  Peony Garden is soft and uses neutral colors and goes with everything.  Then there is Forever Greenery.  I love the colors in this paper and it has beautiful leaf designs on one side and patterns on the other.  I was tempted to show you three cards using each of these papers but I decided to will have to wait to see the other two.  Although I was going to show you the Peony Garden DSP but I didn’t like the card I made so I changed my mind.

As you can see I chose Forever Greenery for this challenge.  The great thing about this paper is it uses every green Stampin’ Up!® offers except Old Olive.  Actually Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive are very close so you could get away with using it.

To make this card I first ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock through my die cutting machine using one of the Greenery Embossing Folders and layered it over a piece of Forever Greenery DSP.  The two designs go together since they are similar in design.  I layered them on top of a  Shaded Spruce card base.  Then I stamped the leaves from the Forever Fern stamp set three times.  I cut two of them out using the coordinating dies called Forever Flourishing and left one uncut in the background.  I stamped the berries in Rococo Rose and cut that out too.  I stamped the greeting and put it all together.  I felt like it needed something so I added a piece of the Misty Moonlight and Silver Baker’s Twine.  I am not sure if that made it look better so just weird because it doesn’t really match but I left it anyway.

Now let’s go see what Designer Series Paper Buffy and Jackie used.  Do you think they had as much trouble as I did choosing?

Although last week I said Arrange A Wreath was my favorite Stampin’ Up!®  bundle I did mention that I had a lot of favorites from this catalog.  The Suite called Forever Greenery is also one of my favorites.  I love the all the different leaf stamps in Forever Fern, the matching dies called Forever Flourishing and the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper is gorgeous!  The colors used in this suite are beautiful together and so elegant.

I started this card by just stamping and cutting out a bunch of the leaf images in different greens.  I think most of our greens go really well with each other.  I arranged them on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I thought they needed a little burst of color added to them so I stamped the berries in Mango Melody.  I used a sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments and cut it out using a die from the set called Tasteful Labels.

I still thought the card needed something more so I added another leaf and a berry to the other side.  The card still looked very white so I added some Soft Seafoam splatters to the background.  This is how I do so many of my cards.  I get an idea in my head and it seems to be missing something so I add a little here and a little there until I like it.  I am not very artistic so sometimes it takes me a while to figure it out (and sometimes it ends up in the trash more often than I like to admit).  That is the great thing about stamping.  Anyone can do it!  Let me tell you, the only reason I passed art class was because I would ask the teacher for help and she would end up doing my whole project.  How could she fail herself?

Forever Greenery Sneak Peek

I finally got to play a bit with my Stampin’ Up!® Pre-order of products that are in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog I placed last week.  One of the Suites is called Forever Greenery and it is absolutely gorgeous!  This Suite includes the stamp set called Forever Fern, a matching die set called Forever Flourishing, gorgeous Designer Series Paper called Forever Greenery, two smaller embossing folders called Greenery plus embellishments and ribbon.

The colors on this card are Just Jade (one of the new InColors), Sea Foam Green and Night Of Navy.  Just Jade is a gorgeous green and one of my favorite new InColors.  I used a Sea Foam Green card base and adhered a piece of the Forever Greenery DSP to it.  I embossed a piece of Sea Foam Green cardstock using one of the new Greenery Embossing Folder.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set Forever Fern in Night Of Navy Ink and cut it out using a die from Stitched Shapes.  I backed it with a 2″ circle.  I stamped the berries in Night of Navy ink and cut out the leaves in Just Jade cardstock.

I just love the colors of this suite!  It will all be available to order on June 3rd for customers but if you want it sooner you can join my team as a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator and order it earlier.
