Good Morning Magnolia Shadow Box

This is one of the projects we made at my stamp class last week.  It is a shadow box made with various Stampin’ Up!® products.  You can buy the frame at Amazon or any other place that sells frames.

To make this I used the stamp set called Good Morning Magnolia and the matching dies called Magnolia Morning.  You can buy both of those items in a Bundle and save 10%.  The word “home” was cut out with the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies.  I love the font of these dies.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Magnolia Lane.

The dimensions of this shadow box insert are as follows:

DSP background – 8″ x 8″

Petal Pink background is 7″ x 7″

Mossy Meadow background is 6.75″ x 6.75″

The Petal Pink behind the larger Magnolia flower is 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and the Whisper White is 4″ x 4.25″

Each of the little squares are 2′ x 2″ ({Petal Pink) and 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ (DSP)

The “home: rectangle is 2″ x 4″ (Petal Pink) and 1 7/8″ x 3 7/8” (DSP

I used Dark and Light Petal Pink Blends to color the flowers and Dark & Light Mossy Meadow Blends to color the leaves.

PS:  I am not sure why it looks crooked in the photo but in real life it is straight.  A Photographer, I am not!

Designer Series Paper Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to use two different designs of Designer Series Paper .  This was hard because my mother always told me to never wear two different patterns together!  You always have to have a solid with a pattern.  I am sure there were a ton of “What Not To Wear” episodes on this matter.  It is a good thing that it is ok to do this on cards!

I decided to use the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper.  I figured out the two designs I wanted to use but had a hard time figuring out what else to do with it.  I tried different flowers but thought it was too much so I played around with a new set of dies I just got called Hand-Lettered Prose.  I like these dies because the letters are slightly slanted in an elegant font.  The colors in the DSP are Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow so I cut the letters out in Mossy Meadow cardstock.

The ‘Birthday’ stamp is from the stamp set called Piece Of Cake.  The whole stamp says Happy Birthday so I masked off the word “Happy”.  To do this, all I did was cover the word “happy” with a piece of tape, ink the stamp and then pull the tape off.  That way only the word “Birthday” had ink on it.  The hardest part is remembering to take off the tape.  If you forget, it makes a mess (ask me how I know this!).  I have ruined many a piece of cardstock because I forgot!

I felt like the card needed a little something else.  I looked for some embellishments in Mossy Meadow and I didn’t have any.  No worries though!  I took my Dark Mossy Meadow Blend and colored 3 of the green sequins from the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  That is one thing I love about the Blends.  You can use them to color any non-porous material such as the sequins.
