Quick & Easy Cards Using Designer Series Paper Part II

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I am spending the week showing you quick and easy cards to make using Designer Series Paper.  These cards are for people who tell me they are too busy to make nice cards and for those who hoard their Designer Series Paper.

Today’s card uses Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper is great because it can be used for birthday cards for everyone.  I think this card could be a masculine card.  Again, it was under five minutes to make.  I adhered the piece of DSP to Basic Black Cardstock.  Then I cut out the “birthday” from the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  I decided to cut off the “Happy” because it was quite large and took up a lot of the front of the card.  Instead, I stamped the word “happy” from the Well Said stamp set that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  This stamp set has matching dies called Well Written Framelits Dies (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  I didn’t use these dies but they are awesome!

Again, this is a quick and easy card that is nice enough to share.

Come back tomorrow for another card in my series.

Happy Birthday

This is a week of birthdays!  I have friends with birthdays today, tomorrow and Wednesday.  It is a good thing I am a stamper!  Hallmark would make a mint off of me this week!

Today is my friend, Carol’s birthday.  Carol is a club member of mine.  She has been in the club for a long, long time.  Karin (you know the one who went to Italy) brought Carol with her to a club meeting years ago.  Carol is smart.  She would rather stay in Club than live in Italy!  Carol is very kind and we all enjoy having her as a member.

I made Carol this birthday card using the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper and the Happy Birthday Thinlits.  You know I must really like Carol because I colored the Laser-Cut Paper with markers before adhering it to the Basic Black Cardstock.  I have to admit it took a long time to color.  At first I was coloring on top of our Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper.  Then went I went to adhere it to the black cardstock it really showed how much I missed.  A big tip here – don’t color white cardstock on white paper.  I had to color it all over again.  I am glad I did because I love how it pops on the black cardstock.

The Markers I used are Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Lemon Lime Twist, Mando Melody, Highland Heather and Pineapple Punch.

A Colorful Happy Birthday

Here is a quick and easy card that uses up some of those small Designer Series Paper scraps that we all have hanging around.  I used the Tailored Tag Punch to cut out pieces of Designer Series Paper called Picture Perfect Party.  Then I used the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die with some Basic Black cardstock and layers it on top.  It was very simple, yet colorful and I think it makes a great masculine card.  Ok, well maybe not with the Berry Burst, Pool Party and Peekaboo Peach cardstock background but you could change that easily for the man in your life who may not appreciate pink (or purple).

My son, Sam, daughter in law, Tara, Madelyn and Nolan (I am sure you already know who they are) are in the process of moving.  They had to put their house on the market but needed a place for Waffles, their Sheep-a-doodle to live while the house was being shown.  Waffles is very sweet, but very big and would probably scare people.  Rob and I were asked to take her.

Here is a picture of Waffles:

Waffles is a very sweet dog and after a few days of Rob’s boot camp, a very well behaved dog.  Waffles favorite place to sit is on the couch on top of me.  Yes, I did say on top of me.  She doesn’t want to sit next to me.  She wants to be as close as possible.  She definitely does not like me working on my computer when we are sitting on the couch.  Her head plops down on top of the keyboard and won’t move until I am rubbing her belly.

Here is a picture of Waffles with Emma, my Golden Retriever (on the right) and my other son, David’s Golden Retriever on the left.  When I look at this picture I want to start singing the song from Sesame Street that goes “one of these things is not like the others.  One of these things just isn’t the same…..🎶🎵.

Anybody want to buy a house?  Quickly?  🙃

Cool Treats Birthday

Am I confusing you with my blog lately?  One day I am talking about Fall and the beautiful trees and the next day I am showing you bright colored popsicles. Do you know why?  It is because it is the end of September and it is still sunny and 80 degrees out!  I am not complaining because it allows us to still live at the cottage plus the nights are cool which makes great sleeping.  Our cottage doesn’t have much heat so when it gets cold we have to go home.  That will be a sad day.

To make this card I used the stamp set called Cool Treats.  This set does has matching Framelits called Frozen Treats although I didn’t use them on this card.  Cool Treats is a 2-step stamp set which means you use two or more stamps to make one image.  I used my favorite popsicle flavors for this card (Pool Party=blue raspberry and Lemon Lime Twist=lemon lime).  The Happy Birthday is a die called (amazingly enough) Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.

A Colorful Birthday

If you know me at all, you know I love Big Bold Sentiments!  The 2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog has a bunch of stamp sets with Big Bold Sentiments in it.  It made me so happy when I saw them.  The thing that made me really smile was when I saw the Big Shot page in the catalog and it had this Big Bold Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  It was the first thing on my list.  It must have made a lot of my customers happy too because almost all of them purchased this die.

What better way is there to show off a Big Bold Die then with a ton of color?  I took all my punches out and just started punching circles out of all different bright bold colors.  I used every punch between the sizes of 1/2″ to 2″ and just scattered the pieces around.  I used a piece of black and white Designer Series Paper from Pick A Pattern for the background to go with the Basic Black cardstock.  This was a really easy card to make that gives a pop of color.

Happy Birthday

I know this card is not very patriotic because I didn’t use red, white and blue but it is still a birthday card so I decided to post it today.  Although things are kind of crazy in this world today, I still love this country and I am proud to be an American.

I made this card using a new die called Happy Birthday (such a surprise!).  I love this die  It is very large, as you can see, and it uses a fun font.  This die goes with a stamp set called Happy Birthday Gorgeous and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

To make this card, I cut out the die using Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Cardstock.  I kept the pool party negative section and pieced the Bermuda Bay words onto it.  Then I had to glue all the little itty bitty teeny tiny pieces of Pool Party back onto it.  It was kind of like doing a jigsaw puzzle.

Happy Birthday, America.  You are still an amazing place and I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

This is a fun card I made using a stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! 2017/2018 Annual Catalog.  The set is called Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  The Happy Birthday Thinlits die goes with this set and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

You already know the die is one of my favorites but it was also a favorite at my monthly stamp club meeting.  Most of the ladies bought this one.  I love the size of it and the stamp set is a lot of fun.  It is a two step stamp set which means you use two different stamps to make an image.  In this case, each of the flowers has an outline stamp and then an inside stamp.  It is super easy to line up because it is Photopolymer which means you can see through it for exact placement.

Speaking of gorgeous, guess who came to visit us last weekend!  Sam and Tara had a wedding to go to in this area so Rob and I got to watch Madelyn for them.  Every time I see her, she seems to be so much bigger and her vocabulary is amazing.  I could even understand most everything she said so Mom and Dad didn’t have to be interpreters.  Plus she gets prettier every time I see her (yes, I am a little biased!)!

Happy Birthday

Stampin’ Up! has a new die in the 2017/2018 Annual Catalog that I just love.  It  is called Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  It is a big die (3.5″ x 3″) and we all know how much I love big dies!  It has a matching stamp set called Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

This is one of the cards we made last night at our monthly stamp club meeting.  The balloon is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and it coordinates with Ballon Bouquet Punch.  This set also coordinates with the Classic Label Punch (although I didn’t use it for this card).  The Designer Series Paper is called Pick A Pattern.

Last week we went on vacation with Madelyn and her family.  My 92 year old mother lives nearby so she got to visit with all of us too.  We all went out for lunch one day.  Madelyn loved her Great Grandma!
