Christmas Pines

Earlier this week I was talking about using some of the older but still current products that we tend to forget about when new things come out.  It is kind of like when waving new shiny things in front of you, you forget what you are doing.

Christmas Pines is another stamp set that is in the 2017/2018 Stamping’ Up! Annual Catalog that I had forgotten about.  It is a beautiful stamp set that has matching Thinlits called Pretty Pines.  I love these Thinlits because they make beautiful pine cones and sprigs of pine branches.  My next door neighbor is so talented and she has these on her windows of her house (for real).  They are just beautiful and I wish I was that talented.  I keep trying to get her to come decorate my house but she still hasn’t shown up!  She is an amazing gardener her.  I won’t even talk about what my gardens look like!  They are pathetic!

New Stampin’ Up! Cat Punch

Although I am not a cat lover or a Halloween card maker, I love the new Stamping’ Up! Cat Punch that is in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  I just think it is very cute and as long as it doesn’t cross my path, I will be ok.

When I was in high school a friend and I were going to visit my grandparents in Vermont. They used to live in Manchester Depot which is near Bromley, Magic Mountain and Stratton ski resorts and we loved to ski.  We left super early one morning and on my way to pick up my friend a black cat crossed my path.  I was not (and am still not) a very superstitious person but later that day I hit black ice and totaled my parents car.  It makes you wonder but I think I’ll be ok with this punch.

This punch has a matching stamp set called Spooky Cat and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  You can use them for Halloween or not.  Cats are year round animals!  The sentiment is from Dragonfly Dreams and the background was made using the Brick Embossing Folder.

A Spring Wreath

Wondrous Wreath, Hearth & Home Thinlits, Thoughtful Banners

Now that Spring has finally arrived in Northern New York, I feel like I can post pretty spring flowers and nice subtle colors to match the season.

This card uses some old and some new merchandise from the catalog.  The old, of course, is the wreath made with the stamp set called Wondrous Wreath.  This set has some matching Framelits to cut out the wreath and the flowers. The window is from Hearth and Home Thinlits.  These Thinlits have also been around for a little while and I am so glad they stayed.

The new is the sentiment and matching banner I used.  The banner is a punch called Duet Banners. The stamp set is called Thoughtful Banners and you can save 10% by buying both in a Bundle.  The nice things about this stamp set is it is a Photopolymer Set.  That means it is flexible so I was able to bend the stamp set to match the arch of the banner.  You can’t do that with rubber!

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge WWC48

47a5d720b3127cce98548acc27be0000003010wAbsWbFozaNGbUA

This is the last Watercooler Wednesday Challenge for 2015.  It is brought to us by Heidi.  She decided to do a “Anything Goes” challenge this week.  The only requirement is, your creation must have snow on it.

Anything goes with snow

Here is the card I made for this challenge:

Hearth & Home, Sleigh Ride

I used some products from the Holiday Catalog.  The window is from Hearth & Home Thinlits.  I love this window and I am so happy it is being carried over after the catalog ends on January 3rd.  Unfortunately, most of the other products I used are retiring and that makes me sad.  The Sleigh Ride Edgelits and the stamp set called Happy Scenes (the trees) are also retiring.  The good thing is, Stampin’ Up! has made another stamp set that will go with the Hearth & Home Thinlits for the Occasions Catalog!

To make it look like it is snowing outside the window, I embossed a piece of vellum with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

I wanted to write a quick note that I will not be one of the Watercooler Wednesday Artists after this.  I’ve taken a new path in my job and I think it will be hard to keep up with everything for a bit.  I wish all the other artists the best and thank them for allowing me to be a part of their group.

Now check out what the other Watercooler Artists have made for this challenge HERE.

Warm Winter Wishes

Winter Wishes

First of all, I want to thank the “No Contact” orders I received this week.  Although I would love to know who you are because I want to personally thank you, I also respect your wish to remain anonymous.  In any case, thank you!

I got the idea for this card from my friend, Buffy.  Usually cards that are made with the Hearth and Home Thinlits Dies have the window looking outside.  This is probably because the matching stamp set called Happy Scenes are outside scenes.  Buffy made a card using this die looking into the house.  I thought that was pretty clever!

The “curtains” are made using the new In Color 1: Dotted Lace Trim in Delightful Dijon.  Ok, I have to admit, I am not a fan of this color.  I usually like to give the new colors a little time before I decide whether I like them or not but this one just hasn’t grown on me yet.  In any case, the color went well with my brick wall.  The curtains remind me of a grandmother’s house.

To try to make up for the ugly curtains, here is a picture of Madelyn.  This is sure to make anyone smile!  She likes to roll over onto her stomach but then gets mad because she really doesn’t like to be on her stomach.  Silly girl!

A Beautiful Fall Day

Happy Scenes, Hearth & Home

This is the second card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  I reminds me of looking out my windows on a crisp Fall day.  Unfortunately those Fall days are going to be upon us quicker than we thought.  Although it is only mid-September you can already tell the cooler days will arrive soon.

This card uses an awesome bundle from the 2015 Holiday Catalog. The stamp set is called Happy Scenes.  It has a Fall scene (the one we used) a snowy winter scene and a cold winter day scene.  It also has cute little corner dies (such as the spider one above).  The window is a die from the set call Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies.  I love these dies!  The little leaves is a die from the Square Pillow Box Thinlits Die set.

Here is another photo of Madelyn’s four month birthday.  She looks a little unsure about this miniature Waffles stuffed animal.  Maybe she is thinking “now this is more my size!”.
