Happy New Year

Hello everyone. It is time for another BS & J Stamp Off Challenge. This time our challenge is to make something sparkly.

Of course, this is perfect for celebrating a new year and using new products that will be coming in the new year and some that will be retiring. What better way to say Sparkle then with a shaker card filled with Metallic Sequins!

I decided to use a new die that says “celebrate” which is part of 2018 Sale-a-bration sets. This is my most favorite thing in the whole catalog (although there is a lot that I love). There are three dies in this set and you can get them for free with a qualifying order. I cut out the word using the Silver Foil Sheets.

The numbers (Large Numbers Framelits) were cut out of the Year Of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper which will be retiring on January 2nd. I love the paper because every sheet has sparkle on it. Some of them are gold, some silver and some are a gorgeous copper.

Now, let’s go see what Sparkly project Jackie and Buffy made. I am sure they will dazzle you!

A Backwards Eclipse Card

Every knows how Eclipse Cards are the biggest rage right now. I even posted two of them in the last couple of weeks. I decided that a backwards Eclipse Card might be just as nice. Normally, you stamp the entire background of a piece of cardstock and then cut out the letters and layer them back using Dimensionals. This time I cut the letters from Large Letters in a plain piece of Whisper White cardstock and then stamped the letters using the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp set. The colors I used were Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight. Then I pieced the letters back into the piece of Whisper White cardstock that I originally cut the letters out of using Stampin’ Dimentionals. I love the Eclipse Cards but I love this backwards card too.

The “Happy” sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous. I used the stamp that says Happy Birthday but I covered the “Birthday” with tape, inked the stamp and them removed the tape so only the “Happy” was stamped.

Another Eclipse Card

This is the second project we made at our monthly stamp club meeting. It is called an Eclipse Card and is extremely popular right now. I had a couple of members request to make this because they have seen them everywhere. They are super easy to make. You either use Designer Series Paper for the background or stamp a background. Then you cut out a word and pop up the letters using Mini Dimensionals.

For the background we used the Designer Series Paper from the 2017 Holiday Catalog called Year Of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is hard to see in the photo but it beautiful paper that has gold, silver and copper accents. We cut out the word “NOEL” using the Large Letters Framelits. I made it a little easier for my Club members by lining up the letters ahead of time and them attached them using retired Washi Tape.

Then we cut out the snowflakes from Silver Foil Paper using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Des.

Eclipse Card

If you are on the internet at all you will know that Eclipse Cards are the biggest thing going on right now. I have no idea who “invented” it but it is all the rage. I like the way they look so I decided to try one out myself.

Eclipse cards are super easy to make. Basically you just stamp a background or use Designer Series Paper. Then you cut out the letters using the Large Letters Framelits Dies and then put them back in using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to make them pop up. Easy!

I do have to say that I know the Large Letters Framelits are a higher price than most Framelits but they are so worth it. You can use them forever to make any word you want for cards, banners, posters, etc. They are well worth the price!

I decided to use Colorful Seasons for my Eclipse Card and then cut out the word “Fall”. My card is a little busier than most so the letters don’t stick out as much. If I did it again, I would use less stamping. The sentiment is from Banners For You.

Saying Goodbye To Mixed Borders

Mixed Borders is a stamp set that will be retiring at the end of May. It is such a cute set and I am sorry to see it go. It is a two step stamp set where you use two stamps to make one image. In this case, the border is the two set stamp. The flowers are in Watermelon Wonder (a retiring In Color *sad*) and the leaves are in Emerald Envy. They are really easy to line because the stamps are Photopolymer so you can see through them.

The “Hello” was cut out using the Large Letters Framelits. This set of Framelits is something everyone should own. You can use it to make cards, banners and scrapbook pages. Honestly, although they are a little pricey, they are worth it. You will have them forever and never need another set of letters. You could have a qualifying workshop and get them for half price. You could always join Stampin’ Up! with me and get these letters as part of your Starter Package or you can use your Demonstrator discount to purchase them.

Mixed Borders will be available until May 22nd. After that once it is gone, it is gone for good.

Tags & Luminaries For Friends

Last weekend I went to New Jersey to go to Stampin Up! OnStage Local. Every April and November Stampin’ Up! has a convention called OnStage somewhere in the world for their Demonstrators. It rotates between The United States, Europe and Australia. This time it was held in Australia. When it is not in the US, Stampin’ Up! holds what is called OnStage Local. They rent our various venues all over the US where Demonstrators got for a day, watch videos from OnStage (wherever it was held), do make ‘n takes and learn about new products.

A lot of demos swap cards with each other. This is where you make so many cards (whatever number you are comfortable with), usually all the same, and swap them for cards that other demos made. It is a great way to meet other demos and get ideas for cards at the same time. In addition to this, some demos make special little things for their friends. This year I decided to make luminaries and bag tags for my friends using the Copper Foil Paper and Copper Embossing Powder.
