Happy Anniversary

Today, Rob and I have been married 35 years.  It amazes me how quickly the time has gone.  Although it does seem like a long time ago, it doesn’t seem like 35 years.  That is a long time!  We have done a lot in those years.  We have three amazing grown men children, two awesome daughter-in-laws and three of the cutest and brightest grandchildren there ever was.  I am allowed to say that since I am their grandmother!

I made this card using the (unfortunately) retired Large Numbers Framelits.  This is one of the die sets I will keep forever because it is so useful.  The same is true for the Large Letters Framelits (so if you don’t have them, get them!).  The Designer Series Paper is called Broadway Bound.  It is a Specialty paper because it has foil designs on one side.  To make the YRS I used a brand new stamp set in the Annual Catalog that I got for free at the April OnStage.  It is called Pick A Pennant and has matching dies called Playful Pennants.  The colors I used are Gray Granite, Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler.

Happy Anniversary, Rob.  Five more years.  The mostest!

A Valentine Stamp Off Challenge

Hello again!  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge featuring BS & J Productions (Buffy, Susan and Jackie).  Today’s challenge is to make a Valentine’s Day card.

I used the stamp set called Heart Happiness to make my card for this challenge.

Heart Happiness is a perfect set to use to make a Valentine’s Day card.  It actually has a set of Framelits that go with it and that go with another stamp set called Sure Do Love You.  That is one of the great things I love about Stampin’ Up!.  You can mix and match stamp sets, dies and colors because everything goes together so well.

First I colored the larger hearts using my Stamping’ Write Markers in Flirty Flamingo, Marina Mist and Island Indigo.  Then I stamped the little heart and cut all of them out using the dies called Lots To Love Box.

I also used the stamp set called Number Of Years and a set of Framelits called Large Numbers to make the banner for this card.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made for their Valentine’s Day card.

Heart Happiness

Whenever I write a post for my blog I look up the name or the item number so I can put it at the bottom of the post in case anyone is interested in looking at it or buying it.  As I was doing this, I realized that the embossing folder I used is no longer available.  That is sad because it is a great embossing folder for Valentine’s Day and I decided to go ahead and post the card anyway.  Lots of people are looking for ideas that own this folder so I thought it would be ok to do.

I used some current product on this card too.  The heart is from a brand new stamp set that is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog called Heart Happiness.  I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then used my Stampin’ Blends to color it in.  The colors I used are listed below.  Stampin’ Blends are alcohol markers so you need to use a water based ink such as the Memento Ink so it doesn’t smear when coloring.  After I was done I decided to add a little sparkle to the card and went over the flowers with my Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush. I know it is hard to see in the picture but it added just a subtle amount of glitter to it.

The banner and the sentiment are from a stamp set called Bloomin’ Love.  I used a die from the Large Numbers dies to cut it out.

A Stamp Off New Year

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is hard to believe it is Friday again so soon.  I am not sure where all the time goes but it sure flies!  Friday is always my favorite day of the week because it is when Buffy, Jackie and I do our Stamp Off Challenges.

This week Buffy gave us a New Year’s theme challenge.

december-30

I actually had a hard time with this one.  I don’t really have any stamp sets that say Happy New Year but then I remembered that you can use other sayings to celebrate the holiday.

Hello You, Large Numbers, Balloon Adventures, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

The “happy” came from a set of Thinlits called Hello You and the numbers are a must have set of Framelits called Large Numbers.  Everyone needs that set because it can be used for so many occasions (graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.).  The “let’s celebrate” and the banner are a stamp from a set that will be in the 2017 Occasions Catalog called Balloon Adventures.  It is such a fun set.  Of course, you have to have some sparkle on New Years so I used the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.

Now let’s go check out what Buffy and Jackie did with this challenge.  I am sure their creations will be awesome, as usual!

Swirly Scribbles Again

Swirly Scribbles, Confetti Celebration, Number of Years

As you know, I really love the Swirly Bird stamp set and the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  I use them a lot!  I always feel that if I can get a lot of use out of one stamp set and Thinlits, then it is definitely worth buying.  There are some sets out there that really can only be used one way (I won’t mention them by name).  Some of them are cute but again, you make one card out of them and you are done.  This is not true with the Swirly set.  There are so many uses for it.  Remember, if you buy both in a Bundle you can save 10%!

This time I stamped the sentiments from the Confetti Celebration stamp set.  The Hooray is backed by one of the Swirly Scribbles dies.  The banner is from Number of Years and it was cut out using the matching Framelits called Large Numbers.

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Hello again.  It is time for another Stamp Off Sketch Challenge.  Jackie designed this challenge for us.

vellum sentiment2

Now, before I go any further, I need to clarify something.  I thought Jackie’s sketch challenge was so cute and I had no trouble coming up with an idea until I was almost done.   Then I saw that word “Vellum”.  That word scared me to death.  I rarely use Vellum.  Well, I might even say I never use Vellum but I think I remember using it once, a very, very, very long time ago.  I actually have 19 sheets of it plus some scraps so I must have used it at least once (there are 20 sheets in a pack).  Therefore, Buffy and Jackie, I tried to use Vellum.  I tried in so many different ways and it just wasn’t working.  So, I apologize to both of you ahead of time.  On a side note:  one reason I love participating in the Stamp Off Challenge is because both Jackie and Buffy are pretty easy going so I know they won’t throw me out of the group for not following the rules.

So, here is my Non-Vellum card:

A Number Of Years,

I used the stamp set called Number of Years.  It has a set of matching Framelits and you can save 15% by buying them in a bundle.  The good news is this set of stamps and framelits will be in the next catalog but you won’t be able to get them in a bundle and save money.  The bad news is those cute little balloons were punched out using the Party Pack Punches and are retiring and won’t be in the new catalog. That makes me sad.  I think they are so cute.  If you like them, you need to buy them before they are gone for good!

Now go check out Buffy’s blog HERE and Jackie’s blog HERE.  I am sure they both followed the rules and make amazing projects!

Happy Birthday Mom

Number Of Years, Large Numbers

Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday.  She will be 91 years old.  She is an amazing person and has more energy that I ever dreamed of.  She keeps super busy shelling, needle pointing, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.  That is in-between going to work at the library every day to sort all the magazines.  She still travels and drives (although not when I am in the car!!) and goes to exercise class three times a week.  She even takes courses at the local university!  It exhausts me just to think about it all.  I can only hope I do half the things she does when I am at her age.

Happy birthday Mom.  You make us all proud!

Number Of Years

Number of Years, Large Numbers

This is the third card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  I just thought that perhaps many of you don’t know what a monthly stamp club is.  It is where a group of us (12 in this case) get together once a month at my house and make 3 cards using Stampin’ Up! products.  Each member is required to purchase a minimum of $20 worth of products at each meeting.  Then we all take turns being the hostess.  The hostess gets to use all the Stampin’ Rewards that are earned from those purchases.  It is a lot of fun and this particular group is made up of some awesome ladies.

We made this card using the stamp set called Number of Years.  It has a matching set of Framelits called Large Numbers and you can save 15% by buying both in a bundle.  I have said it before and I will say it again.  This is a must have set because it can be used forever for so many different occasions.  You can use it for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and New Year’s cards.  The background Designer Series Paper is called Shine On.  It is a heavier paper than normal and is embossing with shining designs (such as silver).  The silver tape in the background is part of the Sale-a-bration catalog that you can get for free with a $50 order.  It adds just the right amount of sparkle and also comes in gold and clear.

#ImBringingBirthdaysBack

Number of Years, Large Numbers

Shannon West has started a new “movement” to bring birthdays back.  She decided that Facebook and other social media web sites have ruined birthdays because it is easier to write Happy Birthday to someone on Facebook instead of sending them a card.  She is right!  I would much rather have a birthday card sent to me than see birthday wishes on Facebook.  I bet the majority of you would too so I am joining her with “#Imbringingbirthdaysback”.

I made this birthday card using a stamp set from the 2016 Occasion Catalog called Number of Years.  This stamp set also has a set of matching Framelits called Large Numbers and you can not only save 15% by buying them both in a bundle but you are just $.75 away from getting something free from the Sale-a-bration Catalog. If you look closely, you can see I added a little sparkle to the numbers using the Wink Of Stella in clear.

I know this set is a little pricey but I think you will use it for years to come!  You can use it for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations.  You never have to buy another year stamp set (such as 2016).  It comes with some flowers, a banner (which is awesome) and all the needed ordinals (th, st, etc).  If you buy anything from Stampin’ Up!, you need to buy this set.

A Stamp Off Balloon Challenge

Stamp Off New Logo

It is that time again for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time BS & J Productions (sounds so official, doesn’t it?) decided to do a balloon challenge.

balloon challenge

We all know how much I love balloons so it wasn’t that hard to come up with something.  Here is my card:

Balloon Celebration

I used a new set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog called Balloon Celebrations.  I love this set because not only does it have balloons it has the cutest balloon strings, great sentiments and a bunch of other fun stamps.  There are 28 stamps in all.  I mean who doesn’t love the stamp that says “Come, let us drink together”?

Of course, another great thing about this set is it has a matching punch called Balloon Bouquet Punch.  You can save 15% by buying both in a bundle!

The banner was stamped and cut out using the Number of Years Bundle which is also in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  If you don’t have that bundle you need to.  It is the most popular bundle Stampin’ Up! sells.

Now let’s go see what awesome projects Buffy and Jackie made for this challenge.  We don’t share our creations ahead of time so it will be a surprise for me too!  Click HERE for Buffy’s blog and HERE for Jackie’s blog!
