A Card from A Friend

I received this card in the mail from Buffy the other day.  Buffy and I do ribbon shares when a new catalog comes out and she was sending me some ribbon she had purchased.  Whenever Buffy sends me anything, she always include a card.  Not just a card.  She always sends a beautiful card!  The fun thing about about this card is it is a fun fold card.

When you first begin to open it, it looks like this:

Then you open it all the way and it looks like this:

Isn’t that fun?  That is why they call them fun fold cards!

Buffy used the Magnolia Lane Suite to make this card.  I can’t really tell you the order she used but I can tell you about the products.  The stamp set is called Good Morning Magnolia.  This set has matching dies called Magnolia Memory and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The Suite also includes the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper.  It is gorgeous paper (as you can see from her card).  I love how she split it on the side and folded the edges back so you can see both sides of the paper.  Then she added the gorgeous flower and leaves she cut out using the Magnolia Memory dies.

Another fun thing Buffy did with this card is to use the new Shimmer White Stampin Emboss Powder on the sentiment.  This embossing powder has flecks of glitter in it so it sparkles and shines.  I love it!

On the inside of the card, Buffy stamped the large Magnolia flower and a couple of the smaller ones and colored them using her Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Blends.

Another great part of this whole surprise was she used a Post-It Note to write inside the card so I could peel it off and use the card again.  It is a great way to recycle cards!

Thank you, Buffy for your beautiful card AND the gorgeous ribbon!

Good Morning Magnolia Shadow Box

This is one of the projects we made at my stamp class last week.  It is a shadow box made with various Stampin’ Up!® products.  You can buy the frame at Amazon or any other place that sells frames.

To make this I used the stamp set called Good Morning Magnolia and the matching dies called Magnolia Morning.  You can buy both of those items in a Bundle and save 10%.  The word “home” was cut out with the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies.  I love the font of these dies.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Magnolia Lane.

The dimensions of this shadow box insert are as follows:

DSP background – 8″ x 8″

Petal Pink background is 7″ x 7″

Mossy Meadow background is 6.75″ x 6.75″

The Petal Pink behind the larger Magnolia flower is 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and the Whisper White is 4″ x 4.25″

Each of the little squares are 2′ x 2″ ({Petal Pink) and 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ (DSP)

The “home: rectangle is 2″ x 4″ (Petal Pink) and 1 7/8″ x 3 7/8” (DSP

I used Dark and Light Petal Pink Blends to color the flowers and Dark & Light Mossy Meadow Blends to color the leaves.

PS:  I am not sure why it looks crooked in the photo but in real life it is straight.  A Photographer, I am not!

Good Morning Magnolia

Monday I showed you a card using a colored background with a pop of white.  Today I am doing the opposite.  As you can see, this card is white with a pop of color! I can’t decide which I like better.  I just love them both!

This card was very simple to make.  I stamped the flower and leaves from Good Morning Magnolia and cut them out using the matching dies called Magnolia Memory.  You can save 10% by purchasing them both in a Bundle.  I colored them using my Highland Heather and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  This stamp set is a must have.  It covers just about every occasion and has a beautiful, elegant font.  The are sentiments for the outside of a card as well as the inside.

Good Morning Magnolia

There are so many beautiful products in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog that I can’t decide which one I love best.  One of the Suites that is on the top of my list is Magnolia Lane Suite.  Everything in this Suite is gorgeous.  The stamp set is called Good Morning Magnolia and the matching dies are Magnolia Memory (you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  The Suite also has beautiful Designer Series Paper called Magnolia Lane, Memories & More cardiac, gorgeous ribbon and embellishments.  One of the nice things Stampin’ Up!® is doing is Bundling all the products in all the Suites together so you can order it all at once with one item number.  It can’t be any easier.

To make this card I first cut a 4.25″ x 5″ piece of the Magnolia Lane DSP using the edge die in the set.  I then cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the same die and adhered both pieces onto a piece of Petal Pink cardstock.  I stamped the flower in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored it using the Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green Dark and Light Stampin’ Blends.  I adhered that on top of the Designer Series Paper  using Dimensionals.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink.

Good Morning Magnolia Gift Card Holder

We had a lot of fun at our monthly class a couple of weeks ago.  One of the projects we made was this gift card holder.  Here are some photographs of what it looks like inside.

We used new products from the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  The stamp set is called Good Morning Magnolia.  This set is absolutely beautiful.  It has matching dies called Magnolia Memory.  The dies not only cut out most of the images in the stamp set, it also cuts the pieces for the flower we put on the band.  The Designer Series Paper I used is called Garden Lane.

To make this card you will need the following sizes:

(1) 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ cardstock

(2) 3″ x 4″ Whisper White cardstock

(1) 3″ x 4″ DSP

(2) 1 7/8″ x 3″ DSP (to hold the gift card in)

(1) 4″ x 2 1/4″ DSP cut with the  fancy die as close as possible to the edge

(1) 1″ x 7 1/2″ cardstock for the wrap

Plus you will need to cut out 2 of each petal size (I used Whisper White), one large flower center ( So Saffron) and 1 small flower center (Soft Suede).

To make this gift card holder you start out with a 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock.  I used Garden Green.  Then you score it at 3 1/4″ and 6 1/2″ turn the paper 90 degrees and score again at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.  Your cardstock should look like this:

Then cut off the four corners so your cardstock looks like this:

Then you just stamp and decorate like the pictures above.  The sentiment was punched out using the new Timeless Label Punch.  The fancy edge on the top of the gift card holder is a die that is included in the Magnolia Memory die set.

Stitched Lace & Magnolias

Look at the background on this card!  Isn’t it gorgeous.  It was made using a new die out of the brand new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog called Stitched Lace.  It is hard to see from this photo but there are stitch marks all around the cutouts.  I tried to get a closer look with my camera but it still didn’t show it very well.  Here is a close up photo that shows it a little better.

In any case, this die is beautiful and easy to cut out.  I ran it though my die cutting machine twice and the little pieces just popped out using the new Take Your Pick Die Brush.

The colors I used for this card are Basic Gray, a new InColor called Terracotta Tile, Granny Apple Green and Whisper White.  The flower and leaves are from the die set called Magnolia Memory.  I showed you a card using the stamp set, Good Morning Magnolia and dies last Wednesday.  They are both so beautiful.

Rob and I moved to the cottage last week.  The weather here has been cold and rainy for weeks.  As a result of this Lake Ontario is overflowing and is causing flooding in some areas.  This happened in 2017 but this year is is even worse.  New York State is supplying sand bags to anyone who needs them and for the first time, Rob had to go get some.  The water is above our wall.

In spite of this, we still consider ourselves lucky.  Some houses are totally surrounded by water.  The issue is all the Great Lakes have had a lot of snow and rain.  They all empty into Lake Ontario which then empties out the St. Lawrence River.  The problem is Canada is also having flooding issues due to high rains and have closed the dams so the water can not flow out of the Lake.  For every inch of water released into the River, Montreal’s water line raises 11 inches.  They are also experiencing flooding so they can’t take anymore water.  It is a mess and no one really knows how to fix it.  The high water has affected shipping, businesses, tourism and recreation.  All our neighbor’s docks are underwater.  It is crazy and I hope it goes down soon!

Good Morning Magnolia

One of my favorite stamp sets in the new Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog is called Good Morning Magnolia.  I am not from the south but I always loved Magnolia trees when they were in bloom.  This stamp set also has matching dies called Magnolia Memory.  Both of these products are part of a suite called Magnolia Lane.  The suite also includes the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder, Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, Magnolia Lane Memories & More Card Pack, ribbon and embellishments.  All of these products go together to make beautiful cards.

To make this card I first stamped the large Magnolia in Smoky Slate Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and colored it using Dark and Light Petal Pink and Mint Macaron Blends.  Then I cut it out using the matching die.  I cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Smoky Slate cardstock diagonally and them embossed it using the Tufted 3D Embossing Folder.  I added a small strip of Calypso Coral cardstock along the diagonal side and attached then to the Petal Pink card base.  Lastly, I cut the word “thanks” from the set of dies called Well Written.

Although I did not use all the products in the Magnolia Lane Suite, I have listed them below for you.  The Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder is 148579 (for some reason it was not available to link below when I wrote this post).
