Painted Poppies

Stampin Up Painted Poppies

Every now and then I have to go through my current stamp sets to see what I have not used in a while.  Painted Poppies is one of those sets that has not seen a lot of ink lately.  It is a cute set that has fun coordinating dies called Painted Labels.  The dies cut out some of the images in the stamp set but it also has a nice border die, a couple of label dies and a fun circle die.  I decided this was a fun set to get out and use again.

To make this card I first stamped the flower heads and leaves in Mossy Meadow ink and colored them using Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight, Pale Papaya and Mossy Meadow Blends.  Then I stamped the small background poppies on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I stamped the stems only from the smaller flower and colored them in with a Blends.  I added some Balmy Blue splatters to the background to make it look like the sky.  Then I adhered all the pieces using Dimensionals.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Charming Sentiments in Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder on a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock.  I adhered that to the card using Dimensionals too.

I wish everyone has a very Happy and Healthy New Year and lots of fun this weekend!  We are going to have some of our grandchildren spending the night to celebrate with us.  Since they are so young, I have them watch last year’s ball drop and we blow horns and make lots of noise and then they go to bed.  They are just too young to stay up until midnight and we are too old to do so!

Beautiful Autumn & A Sneak Peek

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our theme is thankful.  That certainly makes sense since yesterday was Thanksgiving!

Stampin Up Beautiful Autumn

I decide to go with the Beautiful Autumn stamp set since, in my mind, Autumn is over beginning December 1st.  To me, that is the official date of winter starting.  Now that I live in Tennessee, I will get to experience all the different seasons.  I am looking forward to that since in Northern New York we only had two seasons – Winter and July!

First, let’s explain the sneak peek!  See that beautiful Misty Moonlight Designer Series Paper?  It is a piece from the pack called Dandy Garden that will be in the January – June Mini 2021 Catalog.  That pack has some beautiful designs but this one was one of my favorites.  My Upline, Julia, sent me some samples of it (thanks, Julia!).  I wasn’t going to buy it but when I saw the samples, I put it on my list.

For the rest of the card, I used the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn.  This stamp set has three matching punches called Autumn Punch Pack (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle). I love the little leaves and I especially love being able to punch them out without fussy cutting them.  I first stamped the sentiment on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  I masked part of the sentiment off because it wouldn’t fit in the circle I wanted to use.  Masking is where you put a piece of Washi tape (or anything else sticky) over a section of a stamp, ink it up and then remove the tape before stamping.  It only stamps the part you didn’t cover.  I don’t know who discovered this technique but it is brilliant!  Then I cut out the sentiment using a die from the Painted Labels set.  I thought this die looked just like a wreath.

After that I stamped each of the leaves, pinecones and the acorn in Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I colored each one using a Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Terracotta Tile and Sahara Sand Stampin Write Marker.  Then I punched them out.  I did have to hand cut out the pinecones but they were easy because they are oval.  It was a fairly quick and easy card to make.

Now let’s go see how Buffy and Jackie expressed their thankfulness.

Painted Poppies

Peaceful Poppies is one of the amazing suites in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  This suite includes two stamp sets, two sets of dies, gorgeous Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  All of these products were made to go together.  One of the stamp sets is called Painted Poppies.  This set is full of beautiful images.  The dies that go with this are called Painted Labels.  This die set is made up of some dies that cut out the images and some dies that are labels.  The other stamp set is called Peaceful Moments and has a ton of sentiments.  The matching Poppy Moments Dies have 16 dies that cut out various flowers and leaves.  All four of these products can be mixed and matched.

For my card I used both the Painted Poppies and Peaceful Moments stamp sets.  The edge die I used is (in Basic Black card stock) from Painted Labels Dies.  The first thing I did was stamp the flowers in black ink and then embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder.  It is hard to see in the photo but the outline of these flowers are shiny and have some texture. Then I colored the flowers with my Poppy Parade Stampin Blends.  I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and then hand cut the banner out.  The best way to do this is to first cut the smaller banner and adhere it to a larger rectangle (Calypso Coral) and then cut the banner points to match.

As most of you know from a previous post, Rob and I are starting a new adventure in our lives.  He retired from his job and we have decided to move closer to our grandchildren.  Last month, before this crazy Coronavirus stuff started, went house shopping.  We found an awesome house that we both loved the second we walked into it. We made an offer which was accepted.  Sounds great, right?  Not so much right now.  New York has totally shut down for everything other than essential businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies (oh yes.  I can not forget liquor stores!).  That means that real estate agents can not work, which means our house can not be shown. All that boils down to right now we own 3 houses.   It is a little stressful but we are handling it as best we can.  My son had to close on the new house for us since we could not get there (or I should say we chose not to fly at this time).  Oh well.  There are worst things in life right now.  We are healthy which is the most important thing.  I hope all of you are too!

Painted Poppies

Here is another card we made at our monthly stamping class.  It uses a new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 Spring Catalog called Painted Poppies.  This stamp set has matching dies called Painted Labels and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Plus you earn something FREE from the Sale-a-bration Catalog! There is also has Designer Series Paper called Peaceful Poppies that coordinates with this Bundle.  This DSP has absolutely gorgeous colors and very artistic designs in it

One of the things I love about Designer Series Paper is it puts together gorgeous colors for you  to help you make beautiful cards.  Choosing colors is one of the things I struggle with sometimes.  Did you notice that Stampin’ Up!® even put color swatches in the Spring Catalog to help you out with this?  I love that!  The other thing I love about DSP is it makes it super easy to make a card that looks more complicated than it is.

To make this card I cut a piece of the Peaceful Poppies DSP and adhered a strip of Basic Black cardstock underneath it.   Then I layered it on top of a Whisper White card base.  I stamped the flowers three times along the bottom of the card using Memento Black Ink.  I cut the round scribbly circles piece from Basic Black cardstock using one of the dies in this set.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments in Poppy Parade Ink and cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies.  I punched another larger circle from Poppy Parade cardstock.

Peaceful Moments

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly stamp class.  It uses a new stamp and die set from the 2020 Spring Catalog called Peaceful Moments.  This Bundle is part of the Peaceful Poppies Suite.

To make this card I first cut out the background of the flower in Grapefruit Grove cardstock.  Then I cut out the details of the flowers in Terracotta Tile and Memento Black Ink.  I stamped the leaves in Garden Green Ink onto Garden Green cardstock and cut those out using the matching dies.  One really nice thing about this die set is it has two leaf dies you can save time by cutting them both out at the same time.  I also cut out the little bud in Grapefruit Grove and Garden Green cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock and used a die from another set that is included in the Peaceful Poppies Suite called Painted Labels.  I love how it all coordinates with each other.

After doing all the stamping and die cutting I first layered everything on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  It looked great but I decided to try a piece of Basic Black instead.  I love how the colors popped when I did this.  Lastly I added a few Peaceful Poppies sequins to add little sparkle.

I know it is a little late but I realized I haven’t posted any grandchildren at Christmas.  Rob and I could only spend the holiday with Olivia since the others live far away but everyone sent me pictures, which made me happy.

Here is Olivia.  She is seven months old already and cute as a button with the best disposition.

This is Princess Emy.  She is almost three but going on 16.  I am not sure how that happened so quickly!  She is very sweet and very sassy.

This is Nolan and Madelyn.  Nolan is two and Madelyn is 4 1/2 ( I said she was 4 and I got correctly very quickly!).  Nolan is the sweetest little boy and Madelyn is sweet and very silly

I am so fortunate to have amazing sons, daughter in laws and grandchildren.  I just recently retired so I am planning on spending a lot more time with all of them

Painted Poppies

I have to say, there are so many awesome products in the 2020 Spring Mini Catalog that I had a hard time deciding what to get.  I did know I definitely had to have the new products in the Peaceful Poppies Suite right away.  This Suite includes two stamp sets with two matching sets of dies, ribbon, Designer Series Paper, sequins and die cut printed accents.  Did you know you can order the entire suite with one item number?  Stampin’ Up!® has started doing this in their catalogs and it makes it so much easier to order everything you want.  The Peaceful Poppies Suite is featured on the catalog cover.  I love the colors used in these projects.  Another great thing SU started doing is listing the colors used on the main Suite page.

To make this card, I first stamped the flower from the Painted Poppies stamp set in Memento Ink and cut it out using the Painted Labels dies.  Then I cut out the two pieces of the leaves in Old Olive and Garden Green cardstock.  I cut out the square in Poppy Parade Ink using two nested Stitched Shapes dies.  I stamped the background poppies in Memento Black Ink and placed it behind the frame.  Then I layered everything together.

The other stamp set in this Suite is called Peaceful Moments. It is an all sentiment stamp set.   The matching dies are called Poppy Moments. I used a sentiment from this stamp set for my card.
