Colorful Seasons

This is a really quick and simple card to make.  I first stamped the background using the stamp set called Colorful Seasons.  I stamped the leaves in Basic Gray, Petal Pink and Highland Heather in a random order.  Then I cut out the frame using two of the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  I love the way these dies cut the inside and the outside of the rectangle.  I stamped the sentiment from Kindness & Compassion and put it inside the rectangle frame.  I thought it needed something more so I used the coordinating dies called Seasonal Layers and cut a  solid leaf and the detailed leaf out of Petal Pink cardstock and layered them together.

I have been so fortunate to have my grand daughter, Olivia stay with me once a week this fall while their parents work.  Olivia is now five months old.  I don’t know how that happened because it doesn’t seem like she has been around that long.    Being a grandmother is the best job I have ever had.  She is an absolute joy.  She is happy most of the time except when she wants to eat because when she is hungry, she wants her food immediately.  There is no stopping to burp her either.  She tells you in no uncertain terms that burping can be done after she has had the entire bottle.

My children all a thing with pumpkins.  They like to take baby pictures while sitting inside one.  Madelyn, Nolan and Emy all had pumpkin pictures.  I don’t know about this tradition.  I would think a pumpkin would be mighty cold and slimy but none of them seem to mind.  Here is Olivia’s pumpkin picture.

She certainly doesn’t seem to mind!

Stitched Stars Birthday Card

This is the last card we made at my September Stamp Class.  It is another example of how you can take a Christmas themed stamp set and dies and use it year round.  In this case we made a birthday card with them.

The fun thing about this card is I accidentally discovered a new way to use a  the Patterned Party Decorative Masks (or stencils).   I am sure someone other very talented Demonstrator discovered this technique way before me but I had not seen it before.   I was using it the regular way where you lay the mask over cardstock sponge some ink on it.  While I was doing this, I accidentally put the inky mask upside down on my Grid Paper and I noticed it left some ink in a fun pattern.  I decided to try it on purpose using Seaside Spray Ink and a brayer instead of a sponge so I would get more ink on it.  Then I took Pretty Peacock ink and dabbed some ink randomly around using a sponge.  When this was done, I turned the Mask upside down on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and rubbed it.  I think it looks kind of fun!  It might be fun to try with the Mask that has clouds in it.  You could make a textured looking sky with white clouds.

Anyway, after making the background I cut out two stars from the Stitched Stars Dies that are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Holiday Catalog.  The larger star is Pretty Peacock and the smaller one was cut out using the new Mercury Glass Designer Series Paper  Acetate.  As a side note, there is a piece of plaster one one side of this acetate that you need to peel off before using.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and was cut out using a Stitched Rectangle Die.

Just a reminder, there are only a few more days to the Buy 3 Get 1 free Designer Series Paper  Deal!  September 30th is the last day.

Sailing Home

Can you believe it is September already?  Where the heck did the time go?  Where did the summer go?  I guess the good thing is sometimes (not always) September can be beautiful in the North Country.  Let’s hope it is this year.

As most of you know by now, Stampin’ Up!® puts products together in Suites.  Then, if you like everything in a Suite they give you one time number so you can purchase it all without having to enter tons of numbers.  I love that!  This card was made using various products from the Come Sail Away Suite and yes, I did purchase everything in this Bundle so I could use one number (#15275) and get it all.  For $94.75 you get the Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth Sailing dies, High Seas Embossing Folder, Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper, Come Sail Away Memories & More card pack, Baker’s Twine and the Sail Away Trinkets.

To make this card I first stamped the lighthouse in Crumb Cake Ink and cut it out using the coordinating die.  Then I cut out the captain’s wheel in Crumb Cake cardstock.  If you look closely you can see that this die embosses as well as cuts.  I cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies, stamped the sea gulls in the corner and adhered that to a piece of the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment and the two lines (they are not called ropes as my sailor husband tells me) are from the Memories & More card pack.  They have adhesive on the back so you just need to stick them down.

Wednesday is the day you can begin to order from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  If you are local and would like one just let me know and I will put one out for you.  If you would like a copy mailed to you, you just need to pay for postage.  Those of you who ordered $50 or more in the past 12 months should get one free in the mail.  Actually, you should have already gotten it so if you haven’t let me know.

A Technique Challenge

Hello everyone.  Today is another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  Today’s challenge is to use your favorite technique.  Oh boy.  This was a hard one for me.  I don’t really have a favorite technique.  I asked Buffy if plain old stamping was a technique.  I could hear her eye roll from here!  I decided to use a technique that I used a couple of years ago (you can see it HERE).  It uses ink and masks.  I did it a little differently this time after I saw a great video from Jennifer McGuire the other day.  I love her videos because she shows some great techniques in a clear and easy to understand way.

The colors I used for these cards are Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove and Basic Black.  I also used a brand new product from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  It is a new set of Masks (stencils) called Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.  I used the polka dot one.  I was very excited to see new Masks since we have had the current ones for a long time.

To make this card I used a stencil that I actually made.  It is a stencil that can be used to make a wreath out of stamped images.  I lay my cardstock in the stencil and layered the polka dot Mask over it.  I added ink to the stencil using my Stampin’ Up!® Sponges turning the cardstock with every new color.  It ended up leaving a white space where you can put the sentiment.

For the sentiments I used the stamp sets called Broadway Birthday and A Wish For Everything.  The dies I used were Stitched Rectangles and Word Wishes.

Now, let’s go check out Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite technique.  I hope they had an easier time than I did!

Rooted In Nature

Rooted In Nature is a stamp set that has been in the catalog for a couple of years.  It replaced Lovely As A Tree (LAAT).  LAAT was an awesome stamp set but Rooted In Nature is even better.  Why?  Because it has matching dies called Nature’s Roots and cute little leaf embellishments called Leaves Trinkets.  Everyone loves dies and trinkets!

To make this card, I first took a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and rang it through my embossing and die cutting machine with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.  I layered that onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  Next I stamped the trees in Shaded Spruce ink onto Whisper White cardstock three times without re-inking inbetween.  It gives the trees a little depth by making it look like the lighter trees are behind the darker one.  I also stamped the leaves in Shaded Spruce and cut them out with the matching die.

If you look closely you can see the sentiment is on a stitched banner.  We don’t have stitched banners but I will tell you how I did it.  I first stamped the sentiment onto a piece of So Saffron cardstock and cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles.  Then I did this with the same die and ran it through my die cutting machine again:

It worked perfectly!

Mother’s Day Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is to make a Mother’s Day card.  Easy, right?

I decided to use a retiring stamp set called Falling Flowers.  This set has matching dies called May Flowers.  The dies are retiring too.  Both of these products have been around for a while so I am not surprised they are going.  Still, I like this set so I will miss it.

If you look closely at the card you will also see I used a die from Flourish Thinlits.  These dies will be in our next catalog.  I wanted to add a little texture to the background so I thought this die worked well.  I layered it on a piece of cardstock I cut out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog and is carrying over to the new catalog.  This is a great set full of different birthday greetings.  As you can see, I used it for Mother’s Day too  because I don’t have a Mother’s Day stamp!  Can you believe that??

The colors I used for this card are Soft Sea Foam,  Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.

One Sheet Wonder

Hello everyone.  It is time again for another BS & J Productions Challenge.  This time our challenge is to use the technique called One Sheet Wonder.  This is where you make a bunch of different cards using one sheet of Designer Series Paper.  We all know how hard it is to cut that beautiful DSP so this is a great way for you to do it.

I cut mine a little differently than the original picture (but for some reason the original picture is not showing up on my blog this morning so I deleted it) but that is the great thing about Jackie and Buffy.  It is ok to change things up a bit.  This was the way I cut my DSP:

Here are my cards:

The Designer Series Paper I used is the 2018-2020 In Color 6″ x 6″ paper in Lovely Lipstick. The rest of the colors I used were also In Colors (Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel). Each of the cards use the stamp set called Bloom By Bloom.  This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It has matching punches called Bitty Blossoms Punch Pack and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Bloom By Bloom doesn’t have any sentiments so I used some from various sets.  They were Birthday Cheer, Life Is Grand, and Itty Bitty Birthdays. I cut the various flowers out using a variety of dies such as Stitched Shapes and Rectangle Stitched Dies.

Now let’s go see what beautiful creations Buffy and Jackie made.  I am sure we will all be delighted!

Happy Tails

This is the first card we made at our monthly stamp club.  It uses the stamp set called Happy Tails.  This stamp set has a matching punch called Dog Builder Punch.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  This stamp set has some very cute sentiments with it (besides the one we used) such as “Keep calm and wag on” and “Just Fur You”.  There are a few more that go along with the dog theme.

To make this card I first stamped the outline of the dog on Whisper White cardstock and then the spots in Memento Black Ink and punched it out using the Dog Builder Punch.  I attached it to a piece of Gray Granite cardstock and cut it out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  Then I stamped the sentiment and bones along the bottom.  I attached this piece to a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock that I had cut out using the same dies in a larger size.  I stamped the paw prints in Cherry Cobbler Ink and adhered everything together.  I punched out the Cherry Cobbler heart using the Dog Builder Punch too.

Today is the last day you can sign up for the April Paper Pumpkin card kit that is going to have a set of DisINKtive stamps included in it.  For more information click HERE.

Broadway Birthday

This was a fun tropical card to make.  I am ready for warmer weather but because I live in Northern New York I can’t expect it to get nice until July.  There is a saying up here.  We have two seasons – Winter and July.  This winter has been long, cold and snowy and I need sunshine.

Anyway, to make this card, I first stamped the big sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut it out using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I also cut out a piece of Granny Apple Green Cardstock using the next size up.   I love these Framelits because they are a little different than your normal stitched dies.  There is stitching on the inside and outside of each cut.  You can see this if you look closely at the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper  I used.  I cut a rectangle out and it left a line of stitching around the outside. Then I stamped the smaller sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat embossing it with my Heat Tool and White Embossing Powder.  Then I cut that out using the Classic Label Punch.  I layered all of this together and then popped it up using some Foam Adhesive Strips.  This gave the card a little dimension.

This is the last week of Sale-a-bration where you can earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase, get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 single or group order or join my Stampin Up! family and get a $175 worth of products for $99  or get the Carry & Craft Tote and $175 worth of products for $129!

Lift Me Up

The next couple of months are going to be a crazy time in my life.  I will be doing a lot of traveling and have a lot of events going on so I want to apologize if I have short but sweet posts.  It is going to be crazy but fun because I will get to spend a lot of time with my grandchildren and family which is my favorite thing to do.

I made this card using the stamp set called Lift Me Up.  This set is in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  The best part of this set is it has a set of matching dies called Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  This set has been around for a while so you don’t get a discount buying a Bundle but if you buy the stamp set, you have to have the dies.  Plus if you buy the stamps and dies, you will earn product from the Sale-a-bration Catalog for free!!

This is a pretty quick and easy card to make.  I first stamped the balloons in Night of Navy ink and cut them out using the matching dies.  Then I stamped the clouds and the sentiment and cut the entire rectangle out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  I am sure you can tell these are my favorite dies!  I layered this on top of a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and then added the Medium Baker’s Twine.  Lastly, I layered all of these pieces onto a Crumb Cake cardbase.

This is a perfect card to send to a friend to let them know you are thinking of them and wishing them well.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase.  Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 single or group order! Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $175 worth of products for $99  or get the Carry & Craft Tote and $175 worth of products for $129!
