Stampin Up Spruced Up

Last week we received a copy of the July – December Mini Catalog retired and carryover lists. You can click on the links below to see the products that are retiring or being carried over. The retirement list is quite long and one of the stamp and die bundles that is retiring is called Spruced Up. The stamp set is a Christmas set and includes a couple of Christmas trees, a couple of Christmas ornaments, some nice sentiments and a few other stamps (such as a snowflake, candy cane, present, etc. The coordinating dies are a little different because, not only do they cut out the trees, but they also cut out an outline of the trees. I love it when the dies do different and unusual things.

To make this card, I first stamped the tree in Shaded Spruce ink and cut it out using the die set. Then I stamped the snowflakes in Orchid Oasis ink and cut them out. Then I cut out the stars directly from Daffodil Delight card stock.

Next, I cut out the frames using the die set called Fabulous Frames in Orchid Oasis card stock. This die set is in the 2022/2023 Annual Catalog and cuts out three different frame shapes as well as some other things. I ran a piece of Basic White card stock through my Cut & Emboss machine using the Wintry 3D embossing folder. I love how it embosses some snowflakes, as well as some swirls and dots. It is very pretty in person. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the set called Charming Sentiments and cut it out using the Sentiment Silhouettes dies.

Remember, once retiring items sell out they are gone for good so if you want something from the July – December Mini Catalog, you should order it before it is too late. Some of the items are on sale too!

Spruced Up

Stampin Up Spruced Up

We just returned from traveling to Northern New York to spend a few days with my eldest son, David and his family to celebrate Madison’s first birthday. Madison is our 6th grandchild! I know I say this all the time, but time sure flies. It just doesn’t seem like a year since she was born. Her birthday is actually today but David works every other weekend so we wanted to go when he was available to spend some time with us too. The weather was amazingly warm. We were expecting it to be in the 40s but it was actually in the ’70s all weekend. It was nice to be able to spend some time outside. I’ll post some photos below.

I decided it was time to start making some Christmas cards because the way time is flying, it will be here soon! I used a bundle in the July – December Mini Catalog called Spruced Up. Yes, both the stamp set and the dies have the same name making it so much easier to remember. I wanted to use non-traditional colors so I used some of the 2021-2023 InColors (Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party).

To make this card I first stamped the trees in Parakeet Party ink and cut them out using the coordinating dies. The fun thing about these dies is they cut out the trees but they also cut out a border outlining the trees. I stamped the presents in Tahitian Tide ink and cut them out too. I used the Stitched Rectangles dies in Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party and 2021-2023 InColor Glimmer Paper. This glimmer paper comes in all five InColors and the colors graduate from lighter to darker. It is very pretty in person. I layered everything on a Sweet Sorbet card stock. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Sweet Sorbet ink

Mystery Parts

We participated in another Mystery Parts. This is where one of us sends some Stampin’ Up!® products to the others and we make cards out of them. The only rules are all the parts have to be Stampin’ Up!® products (retired or current) and we have to use all the products sent to us. We can add some of our own products if we wish.

Here are the Mystery Parts that Laura sent us this month:

Stampin Up Mystery Parts

I am not sure of the names of all the parts but they included a Cherry Cobbler card base, a piece of Basic White card stock, a piece of Designer Series Paper (that I can’t find the name of) and a piece of thread.

This is Laura’s card. She made it into a beautiful Christmas card.

This is Kim’s card. She used the Plentiful Plants bundle and added some more Designer Series Paper and a cute little button.

Here is Karin’s card. I love the cute kitchen set she used and all the splatters.

Here is Char’s card. Char used the other side of the Designer Series Paper! I love those Split Textures Dies!

This is the card I made. I also made it into a Christmas card. To make it I first layered the piece of Designer Series Paper that Laura sent onto the Cherry Cobbler card base. Then I used the soon-to-be-released stamp set called Framed & Festive for the sentiment and the Framed Florets Die set for the oval. These are part of the new bundle Stampin’ Up!® will be released to customers on November 1st. I stamped the trees from the stamp set called Spruced Up in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen ink and cut them out using the coordinating dies also called Spruced Up. I stamped the present in Cherry Cobbler ink and wrapped the piece of thread that Laura sent us around it. I adhered these to the card using Dimensionals.

Christmas Season

Stampin Up Christmas Season

I know it is only September but Christmas is not that far away. You need to start thinking about your Christmas cards. I have yet to design the card I will send this year but one of my favorite holiday stamp sets is called Christmas Season. This stamp set has many two-step stamps included with it. A two-step stamp is when two or more stamps are used to make one image. For example, the pinecones are made using one stamp for the outside of the pinecones and one for the inside. This stamp set has coordinating dies called Seasonal Labels (although I did not use them on this card). The dies cut out many of the shapes in the stamp set and also include some very nice dies to make labels with.

To make this card, I first stamped the pinecones using Crumb Cake and Soft Suede ink in the center of a 3.5″ x 4.75″ piece of Basic White card stock. Then I stamped the leaves in Evening Evergreen ink and the pine needles in Soft Succulent ink. Next, I stamped the berries in Cherry Cobbler ink. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Spruced Up. I stamped the word “Merry” in Cherry Cobbler ink and the word “Christmas” in Evening Evergreen ink onto a .5″ x 4.75″ piece of Basic White cardstock. I backed both of these onto Cherry Cobbler card stock. The Designer Series Paper I used is called Tiding Of Christmas (retired).

Take this post as a reminder to start thinking about your Christmas cards. You will need the time to decide what products to use, order them, design them and finally, make them.
