Nothing Better Than

Stampin Up Nothing Better Than

I just got back from spending a month in Florida.  Yes, I know I am spoiled.  My mom has a time share down there and she could not use it and offered it to us.  It was so beautiful there and so warm and sunny.  We had a great time.  Down the beach from where we stayed there is a tiki bar right on the beach so, of course, we had to go there at least a couple of times.  I am not a big umbrella kind of person but when you are on the beach, you have to have umbrella drinks.  They just go together!  It would be late afternoon and I would think to myself “today is a cocktails kind of day”.  Of course, every day could be a cocktails kind of day but we definitely didn’t go every day!

I used the stamp set called called Nothing’s Better Than to make this card.  This stamp set has coordinating dies called Love You More Than.  Both of these products are in the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  I also decided to use the Rainbow Glimmer Paper because it goes so well with umbrella drinks and it is sparkly like the sun shining on the water.

I first stamped the drinks in Memento Black Ink and colored them to match the Rainbow Glimmer Paper using my Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Rich Razzleberry Stampin Blends.  Then I cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I cut the background piece and the word “Cocktails” from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper.  I layered the background piece of some Basic Black cardstock and then onto a Basic White card base.  I used a Stitched Nested Label die for the background, stamped the sentiments in Memento Black Ink and added some Playing With Patterns Resin Dots.

Here is a picture showing you how sparkly the paper is.  It is just so much fun!

Stampin Up Nothing Better Than

Tomorrow is Rob’s birthday.  Maybe we should celebrate with some more umbrella drinks!  What do you think?

Happy Birthday, Rob.  I love you the mostest!

Approaching Perfection

Stampin Up Approaching Perfection

I don’t know about you, but I have a Designer Series Paper hoarding problem.  For some crazy reason, it is always so hard to make that first cut.  As a result of this, I end up having boxes and boxes of retired Designer Series Paper that never gets used.  I used to think that I needed to save it in case I decide to use it in one of my stamp classes.  I can’t use that excuse anymore since I am not holding any classes.  Therefore, I have decided to dedicate all my posts this week to making simple cards using Designer Series Paper and a sentiment.

This first card I made is using the Playing With Patterns Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up!® 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  I used the Night Of Navy polka dot piece for the background and the Purple Posy piece for the balloon.  The balloon and string are part of the Happy Dies which is also in the Annual Catalog.  Can you imagine using a brand new, uncut piece of DSP just for a small balloon?  Really.  Hoarding is a sickness.

I cut two pieces of cardstock (one Night Of Navy and one in Basic White) using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.  The sentiment is from a Sale-a-bration stamp set called Approaching Perfection.  You can get this stamp set for FREE if you purchase the Playing With Patterns DSP, the Stitched Nested Labels and a pack of Basic White cardstock!  Everyone loves FREE!

Stayed tuned for Wednesday’s and Friday’s posts for more cards using my Designer Series Paper.  I am determined to use this beautiful paper more often so you will see more of it in the future.

Many Medallions

Stampin Up Many Medallions

I needed to make a wedding card for someone and I found out their colors were very similar to some Stampin’ Up! colors so I decided to use them for the card.  I wished I had saved the photo of their wedding but now I can’t find it but just know they were Calpyso Coral, Petal Pink with a touch of Coastal Cabana.

To make this card I first cut out two pieces using the Many Medallions die set.  The first one was in Petal Pink and the second one in Coastal Cabana.  I adhered the Petal Pink one to a Calypso Coral card base and then glued the tiny pieces of Coastal Cabana in the slots.  First a disclaimer.  Do not try this at home.  Although I love how it turned out, it took a very, very long time to glue all those tiny pieces inside the medallion.  They are all not the same size which made it a bit harder.  My suggestion is to cut a piece of cardstock (I used Coastal Cabana) and adhere the large Petal Pink die cut over the top.  Luckily it was done on a rainy day so I had lots of time.

I stamped the sentiment from Peaceful Moments using Coastal Cabana ink and cut it out using a Stitched Nested Labels Die.  Then I punched out a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Everyday Label Die and adhered them together.

I did get a lovely thank you card from the happy couple who said they loved the card so all that work was definitely worth it.

Playing With Patterns

Stampin Up Playing With Patterns

Good morning everyone.  I hope you are all enjoying your summer (or winter depending on where you live).  Our summer has been hot and sunny which is perfect lake weather.  If it gets too hot we can just go jump in the lake.

Today I have been playing with the Stampin Up Playing With Patterns Suite.  This suite is in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog.  It includes a stamp set called Pattern Play, dies called Playful Alphabet, cute Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.  I love the dies and the DSP the best so I made a card using them.

The first thing I did was cut out the letters in Just Jade cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I had a little bit of a hard time lining them up until I saw a Jennifer McGuire video showing how she does it with a T-ruler.  This method worked perfectly with my die cutting machine magnetic plate.  I just placed them on the piece of cardstock a little lower than where I wanted them to cut out and then pushed them up slowly with my T-ruler until they were where I wanted them.  Then I just ran them through my die cutting machine.  After I cut them out I backed them with a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock.

These particular letter (the A & 2 P’s) have little pieces in the middle of them.  To place them perfectly I put the letters back into where I had cut them put a little Multipurpose Glue in the center and then fitted the little middle piece inside.  Then I just pulled the letters out and will save them for a future card.

The sentiment “birthday” is from the set of dies called Well Written.  I wanted to use the new Foam Adhesive Sheets with it to make it stand out a bit so I layered a piece of Bumblebee cardstock on top of a piece of the Foam Adhesive sheets and cut it out.   The Foam Adhesive Sheets are like Dimensionals only they are 4 1/2″ x 4 5/16″.  It took 3 or 4 runs through my die cutting machine to cut it out but it worked great.  I think it is because the dies are so skinny.  I love these new sheets.

Nothing’s Better Than

Stampin Up Nothing's Better Than

Jackie made me do it.  Jackie is one third of our BS & J Productions Stamp Off Challenges.  She has posted a few cards using the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set along with the coordinating dies called Love You More Than (and yes, you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  Her cards were so cute, I had to buy the bundle.  She is such an enabler!  I keep threatening to unfriend her because she is expensive to be friends with (just kidding Jackie).

The thing I love most about this bundle are the word dies.  They say Chocolate, Coffee and Cocktails.  I am not a coffee drinker but I will admit to chocolate and cocktails!

To make this card I first stamped the glasses in Memento Black Ink and then stamped the insides of each in Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody.  I colored the umbrellas and fruit using the coordinating Stampin’ Write Markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I cut a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies and the word Cocktails in Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Cherry Blossom Dies

No one ever wants to make a sympathy card but things happen and, unfortunately it becomes necessary.  You wouldn’t think that sending someone a card would be a big thing when they are grieving a loved one but it is.  I remember when my Dad died years ago and my friends, acquaintances and some distant family members sent me lots of cards.  It was awesome and it brightened my day during this sad time.

I made this sympathy card just to have on hand.  Thankfully, I haven’t had to use it yet.  I used a set of dies called Cherry Blossoms that are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 Mini Catalog.  They have a matching stamp set called Forever Blossoms (which I didn’t use on this card) and if you buy them in a Bundle you can save 10%.   One of the things I love about this set of dies is that some of them emboss as well as cut.  If you look closely you can see the embossing on some of the flowers and leaves.  I cut the flowers out of Purple Posy, So Saffron and Highland Heather cardstock and the leaves out of Pear Pizzazz.  I used the dies called Stitched Nested Labels to cut out the piece of Whisper White cardstock.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments which is also in the Mini Catalog.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! It is the best time of year in the Stampin’ Up!® world. Perfectly Plaid & Christmas Layers

Perfectly Plaid is one of the stamp sets that is in the 2019 Holiday Catalog that is carrying over and I could not be happier.  This is such a fun, light hearted Christmas set and it has a matching punch called Pine Tree Punch.  Although it is carrying over into the next catalog, you will not be able to purchase it for 10% after January 3rd so if you love this set, you should buy it before the end of the Holiday Catalog sales period.

The colors I used on this card are Cherry Cobbler, Call Me Clover and Whisper White.  The first thing I did to make it was to use the Christmas Layers Dies and cut 4 or 5 of the snowflakes out of Whisper White cardstock.  I layered these onto of a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  You can see a close up of it below.

Then I stamped the tree and the sentiment in Call Me Clover Ink.  I punched the tree out using the Pine Tree Punch and the sentiment using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I wrapped a piece of the Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Diagonal Striped Ribbon (also in the Holiday Catalog but is retiring on January 3rd) around a piece of Call Me Clover cardstock and then layered everything together.  I felt it needed something more so I took 3 of the Epoxy Clear Droplets and colored them using my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.  Stampin’ Blends are great for coloring just about anything and the ink stays on and doesn’t rub off.

I have to say, I have had the honor to take care of my youngest grand daughter, Olivia once a week.  It has been so much fun to take care of a baby again.  Olivia is 6 months old and whenever you look at her, she smiles.  It is the sweetest smile!

Isn’t she just beautiful?!?

Gather Together

This is another card we made at an October class.  It is one of my favorite ones we made and I totally forgot to show it to you.  We used products from the Come Together Suite that is in the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog.  I love it that Stampin Up! groups a bunch of products that go se well together.

For this card we used the stamp set called Gather Together.  This set has matching dies called Gathered Leaves and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  One of the fun things about these die is, not only do they cut out some of the images in the stamp set but there are extra dies in that cut and emboss at the same time.  If you look at the Crushed Curry leaf you will see it is embosses with the veins of the leaf too.

To make this card I first stamped the background using the Birch stamp in Crumb Cake and layered it on a Crumb Cake card base.  Then I cut a Hexagon out using the Stitched Nested Label Dies from the Annual Catalog also in Crumb Cake cardstock.  I stamped the wheat and the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I stamped the big leaf and the pumpkins in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut them out using the matching dies and colored them using the light and dark Stampin Blends in Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie.  Lastly I tucked the Crushed Curry leaf under the pumpkins.

Beautiful Friendship

Hello everyone.  Today’s BS & J Productions challenge is a color challenge.  I love color challenges!

I love Pretty Peacock  but never thought to put it with Mint Macaron and Blueing Bride but I love how they look together.  Here is my card:

To make this card I used the stamp set called Beautiful Friendship.  This set is in the Stampin’ Up!®  2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  This set is a DisInktive stamp set which is a patent pending stamp set that shows depth by having the images stamp lighter and darker in different places.  I love the Hydrangea image in this set (Hydrangeas are my favorite flower).  If you look at the image you can see how some of it stamps darker and some is lighter.

I first stamped the Hydrangea in Blushing Bride and then cut it out using the Stitched Shapes dies.  Then I ran a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock through my die cut and embossing machine using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock and cut that out using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I stamped the leaves from the stamp set called Painted Harvest and punched them out using the Leaf Punch.  Lastly, I colored one of the hearts from the Heart Epoxy Droplets using my Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin Blends.  The Designer Series Paper is from the 6″ x 6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper packs.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using these colors.

Stitched Stars Birthday Card

This is the last card we made at my September Stamp Class.  It is another example of how you can take a Christmas themed stamp set and dies and use it year round.  In this case we made a birthday card with them.

The fun thing about this card is I accidentally discovered a new way to use a  the Patterned Party Decorative Masks (or stencils).   I am sure someone other very talented Demonstrator discovered this technique way before me but I had not seen it before.   I was using it the regular way where you lay the mask over cardstock sponge some ink on it.  While I was doing this, I accidentally put the inky mask upside down on my Grid Paper and I noticed it left some ink in a fun pattern.  I decided to try it on purpose using Seaside Spray Ink and a brayer instead of a sponge so I would get more ink on it.  Then I took Pretty Peacock ink and dabbed some ink randomly around using a sponge.  When this was done, I turned the Mask upside down on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and rubbed it.  I think it looks kind of fun!  It might be fun to try with the Mask that has clouds in it.  You could make a textured looking sky with white clouds.

Anyway, after making the background I cut out two stars from the Stitched Stars Dies that are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Holiday Catalog.  The larger star is Pretty Peacock and the smaller one was cut out using the new Mercury Glass Designer Series Paper  Acetate.  As a side note, there is a piece of plaster one one side of this acetate that you need to peel off before using.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and was cut out using a Stitched Rectangle Die.

Just a reminder, there are only a few more days to the Buy 3 Get 1 free Designer Series Paper  Deal!  September 30th is the last day.
