Nothing’s Better Than

Stampin Up Nothings Better Than

I have been talking a lot about the retiring products so I thought I would change it up and talk about one that is carrying over.  It is called Nothing’s Better Than and it has coordinating dies called Love You More Than.  You can purchase both in a bundle and save 10% if you purchase it by May 3rd.  After that it will still be in the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual Catalog but not at the bundle discount.

To make this card, I first decided to use some of the Well Suited Designer Series Paper in my quest to use DSP more.  This DSP is retiring on May 3rd.  I love this paper because it is more masculine and has nice neutral colors that go with anything. I layered one 4″ x 5.25 piece on a Basic Black card base and another 2″ x 4.5″ piece on a 2.25″ x 4.75″ piece of Basic Black card stock.  I cut out the circle using the Stitched Shapes Dies (also retiring and if you do not have these, you need to get them!).  I layered that on top using Stampin Dimensionals.  I cut out the sentiment using Cherry Cobbler card stock and I stamped the cup with Memento Black ink on Cherry Cobbler card stock and cut it out using the coordinating die.  I adhered that to the stitched circle also using Dimensionals.  Lastly I stamped the steam of the tea that is in the cup.  Yes, I said tea because I am not a coffee drinker so I decided it could be tea too!

Prized Peony

Stampin Up Prized Peony

I had a little mini one person stamping class a couple of months ago at the cottage.  I showed one of my next door neighbors how to stamp.  She has stamped years ago but everything has changed so much that she wanted to try it again.  I showed you a couple of simple cards we made a while ago.  She was pretty excited about it and wanted to learn some other things such as die cutting and embossing so this was the card we made.

I first stamped the flower in Petal Pink ink onto Petal Pink cardstock and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Peaceful Moments in Versamark and embossing it using Silver Embossing Powder.  Then I cut that out using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I layered this on top of a piece of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  Lastly I added a piece of Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon.  It was a simple card to make but it showed a lot of the techniques she wanted to learn.

Stitched Leaves

Hello everyone!  Today we are having another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge was to make a Fall card.  As a side note, our challenge was originally to make a Halloween card but after going through all my current stamp sets, I realized I don’t have any new Halloween cards!  How can that be?

In any case, here is my Fall card.

I decided to make another slimline card for this challenge.  I just love these cards and they are not hard to make at all.  My card is 3.5″ x 8.5″.  You can make them any size you want.  I have seen some that are 3.25″ x 8″ and others that are 3″ x 8″.  It doesn’t really matter.  Really it comes down to how much room you need for your design.  I also found a tutorial on YouTube on how to make an envelope for a 3.5″ x 8.5″ card so I went with that.

This card was fairly simple to make.  I first cut out the leaves in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Cherry Cobbler (all “C” colors!) using the new Stitched Leaves dies.  Then I cut out three squares using the Stitched Shapes dies in Garden Green cardstock.  I layered these all together and then added the sentiment.

I do have a small disclaimer.   As you know, I recently moved to Tennessee and I am not totally unpacked yet.  My craft room is a disaster.  In my old house, my craft room was in the basement so it did not really matter what it looked like.  I bought a couple of plastic fold up tables from Sam’s Club and used them.  I had a mish mash of ink pad holders, marker holders, etc.  In my new house, my craft room is in the family room (yay for having windows!!).  The fold up, stained and chipped tables looked horrible up there so I decided to buy new furniture for my new craft room.  Well, the new furniture arrived on Monday and I have been frantically trying to put things in place.  I am probably 75% done.  Why am I telling you this?  Because I can not find whatever stamp set I used for the sentiment on this card.  I am pretty sure it is current (although not positive but I don’t usually use retired stamps on my blog) but right now it is no where to be found.  So I apologize that I can not tell you its name.  PS:  Thanks to a friend, the stamp is from a stamp set called Quite Curvy that will be available for customers to purchase beginning on November 3rd.  Check back here for details on November 2nd).

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made with a Fall (or Halloween) theme.  I am sure they will be gorgeous!

Tomorrow is the last day to take advantage of 15% off Designer Series Paper!  Don’t miss out on this fantastic deal!

Layering Circles

Stampin Up Layering Circles

One of the nice things about being a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator is you get to belong to this amazing Facebook group where we discuss issues and everyone posts their beautiful creations.  I started to see a lot of card using this Layering Circles Technique and decided I wanted to try it.  I think it looks pretty cool.  Honestly, I can’t tell you exactly who “invented” this technique but there were many, samples with directions.  That is another thing I love about Stampin’ Up!®.  They encourage you to CASE (copy and share everything).   In any case, you cut a bunch of circles using various dies and cut them in half.  If you would like directions I used you can watch THIS video on  YouTube.

I used the Stitched Shapes and the Layering Circles dies to make this card.  I cut various circles in BumbleBee, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate cardstock and then cut them in half.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays.  I embossed the Smoky Slate background using Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder.

It has been a long crazy month in my family.  We moved to Tennessee.  We had a new grandson born (Jackson) and we have spent a lot of time with some of my other grandchildren.  The house is still a disaster with lots of boxes unpacked but I try to do a little every day so I don’t get too overwhelmed.  I would rather spend my time with my children and grandchildren and stamping when I can.  It certainly has been a life change but thankfully, it is for the better!

County Home Fun Fold

Good morning everyone.  Today I made a cute fun fold card that I saw on the internet somewhere (sorry I can not remember where).  The card I saw that was made by a stamper from the UK named Amanda Charlesworth (if you click on her name it will take you to a link on her YouTube channel with directions).  Her measurements made a larger card than I wanted to make so I had to experiment with how to make it a regular A2  (5.5″ x 4.25″) card but other than the measurements, I followed her directions.  Once you learn how to make the sliding piece, the rest is easy.  I listed the measurements of each piece below.

This fun fold is called Slide and Lock.  The middle section keeps the card together and you slide it up to open it.

The sentiment I used for this card is from the stamp set called Country Home.  The Designer Series Paper is Flowers For Every Season.  I used a die from Stitched Shapes to cut out the sentiment.  The measurements are as follows:

Card base:  Whisper White 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at 2 1/8″ on both sides.  Then I cut a 1/16″ off one side to make it slide better.

The side panels on the card base (using the DSP) are 1 7/8″ x 5.25″ and 1 15/16″ x 5.25″ (remember you needed to cut that 1/16″ off one side so you have to adjust the DSP for that.

The sliding mechanism is 4 pieces of Whisper White cardstock 2.75″ x 2.75″.

2 pieces of Misty Moonlight cardstock 2.5″ x 2.5″

1 piece of DSP 2 3/8″ x 2/38″

1 piece of Whisper White cardstock cut out with a square from the Stitched Shapes Dies.

I think it would be fun to use different shapes for this card such as a circle, a star or a label die.  Thanks, Amanda for sharing your directions!

Forever Greenery Sneak Peek

I finally got to play a bit with my Stampin’ Up!® Pre-order of products that are in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog I placed last week.  One of the Suites is called Forever Greenery and it is absolutely gorgeous!  This Suite includes the stamp set called Forever Fern, a matching die set called Forever Flourishing, gorgeous Designer Series Paper called Forever Greenery, two smaller embossing folders called Greenery plus embellishments and ribbon.

The colors on this card are Just Jade (one of the new InColors), Sea Foam Green and Night Of Navy.  Just Jade is a gorgeous green and one of my favorite new InColors.  I used a Sea Foam Green card base and adhered a piece of the Forever Greenery DSP to it.  I embossed a piece of Sea Foam Green cardstock using one of the new Greenery Embossing Folder.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set Forever Fern in Night Of Navy Ink and cut it out using a die from Stitched Shapes.  I backed it with a 2″ circle.  I stamped the berries in Night of Navy ink and cut out the leaves in Just Jade cardstock.

I just love the colors of this suite!  It will all be available to order on June 3rd for customers but if you want it sooner you can join my team as a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator and order it earlier.

Come Sail Away Fun Fold

Hello everyone!  Welcome to another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge is to make a Fun Fold Card.  You all know by now that I love Fun Folds and I am always looking for new ones.  Luckily, I ran across one that was made by Julie Davison, a fellow demonstrator so I thought I would try it.  It is called a Peekaboo Flip Card and it isn’t very hard to make!

Here is the front of the card:

The fun part is when you pull the tab and this happens:

Isn’t that cute?

To make this fun fold card I used products from the Come Sail Away Suite in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  It includes the stamp set called Sailing Home, matching dies called Smooth Sailing (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle), Designer Series Paper, an embossing folder, embellishments and Baker’s twine.  Plus it has a pack of Memories & More cards which is what I used to make this card.

The two sailboats, anchor and sentiments are all from the Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack.  All I needed to do was punched them out and adhere them to a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies..  The Designer Series Paper is also called Come Sail Away and has some beautiful patterns including the Balmy Blue and Whisper White striped one I used.  I punched the tab out using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch with Crumb Cake cardstock.  The card base is Night of Navy.

If you would like to see how Julie made this card, you can click HERE to see her video.  You will see how easy it was.

Now let’s go see what kind of Fun Fold card that Jackie and Buffy made.  I am sure you will love them!

Botanical Prints

Sometimes I need a card and I don’t have time to make one.  This is where Stampin’ Up!® kits come in handy.  They put everything you need to make beautiful cards in one kit (except adhesives and inks) so you don’t need to spend time trying to figure it out.  It is all in the box!

The kit I used for this card is called Botanical Prints.  It includes and beautiful stamp set, matching dies, 48 sheets of two sided Designer Series Paper, layered-cut overlays, ribbon and these adorable little copper colored bees.  Plus it includes die cut accents which makes card making even easier!

To make this card I took a piece of Old Olive cardstock and layered a laser-cut overlay on top of it using Multipurpose Glue.  The laser-cut overlay is white on one side and Pretty Peacock on the other.I cut a circle out using the Stitched Shapes dies and adhered one of the die cut accents on top of it.  I stamped the sentiment onto the banner that in included in the kit and layered everything together.  I promise.  This card only took five minutes (or less) to make and I think it is beautiful.

If you order this kit you will be eligible to receive something free from the Sale-a-bration Catalog.  How great is that!!

Peaceful Moments & Stitched So Sweetly

I love it when Stampin’ Up!® comes out with new dies that can be used in a Bundle or stand alone.  I especially love all the stitched dies we have been getting lately.  We have Stitched Rectangles, Stitched Shapes, Stitched Be Mine, Stitched Labels and more.  Now we have a new set called Stitched So Sweetly that pair perfectly so with many sentiments.  This set of dies is actually a bundle with So Sentimental, although I did not use that set for this card.  Instead I used Peaceful Moments.  All of these products are in the 2020 Mini Catalog.

When making this card, I decided I wanted to use my favorite colors together.  I love most of the Brights family but I especially love Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana together.  The other colors I used are Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.  I love how bright and cheery they all are.

This card could have been pretty simple to make but I decided to step it up a bit.  I rounded the corners using the Detailed Trio Punch.  I also decided to stamp the sentiment twice.  I did it once in Memento Black ink and again in Bermuda Bay.  Then I cut out the word “happiness” and layered it over the black sentiment using Mini Dimensionals.  The Daffodil Delight circle was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies and the Granny Apple Green and Whisper White shapes were cut out using the new Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love how they all layer together.

Painted Poppies

I have to say, there are so many awesome products in the 2020 Spring Mini Catalog that I had a hard time deciding what to get.  I did know I definitely had to have the new products in the Peaceful Poppies Suite right away.  This Suite includes two stamp sets with two matching sets of dies, ribbon, Designer Series Paper, sequins and die cut printed accents.  Did you know you can order the entire suite with one item number?  Stampin’ Up!® has started doing this in their catalogs and it makes it so much easier to order everything you want.  The Peaceful Poppies Suite is featured on the catalog cover.  I love the colors used in these projects.  Another great thing SU started doing is listing the colors used on the main Suite page.

To make this card, I first stamped the flower from the Painted Poppies stamp set in Memento Ink and cut it out using the Painted Labels dies.  Then I cut out the two pieces of the leaves in Old Olive and Garden Green cardstock.  I cut out the square in Poppy Parade Ink using two nested Stitched Shapes dies.  I stamped the background poppies in Memento Black Ink and placed it behind the frame.  Then I layered everything together.

The other stamp set in this Suite is called Peaceful Moments. It is an all sentiment stamp set.   The matching dies are called Poppy Moments. I used a sentiment from this stamp set for my card.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time!  It is the best time of year in the Stampin’ Up!® world.  You get FREE products with a qualifying order and there are many to choose from.  It is also the best time to join my Stampin’ Up! family.  For $99 you can pick $125 worth of products from the Annual or Spring Catalogs.  Plus you get
