Merry Snowflakes

Stampin Up Merry Snowflakes

Merry Snowflakes is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® July – December Mini Catalog (also known as the Holiday Catalog).  It has a set of coordinating dies called Stitched Snowflakes and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The die set is is gorgeous.  There are 14 dies in all.  Some of them cut out the outside of a snowflake and some cut these beautiful snowflakes with stitches in them. There is also a die that cuts a bunch of snowflakes into cardstock without actually cutting the shapes.  These are great for a background.  Sadly, this set is retiring at the end of this catalog so if you like them, you need to purchase them quickly before they are gone for good.  Some of the products that are retiring may already be gone and once they are gone, they are gone for good.

I decided I wanted to make a non-traditional Holiday card using non-traditional colors.  That way I could use it for a variety of occasions such as Christmas, Hanukkah or even a birthday card.  Therefore, I went with Blushing Bride and Basic Black.

I first used a piece of the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper that is in the 2021/2022 Annual Catalog.  I colored it using a set of retired Blends (Pink Pirouette).  I apologize for this.  I thought they were Blushing Bride until I went to add the link below and realized then that there are no Blushing Bride Blends.  That certainly needs to change!  You could color your Designer Series Paper very easily with color of Blends because they don’t leave lines like markers might.

I decided I wanted to have a shiny snowflake so I pressed my Versamark Ink Pad on a piece of Basic Black card stock, sprinkled it with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool. I did this a couple of times so the snowflake would have a little more dimension to it and be even shinier.  Then I cut it out using one of the snowflake dies in the Stitched Snowflake die set.  It is hard to see in the photograph but it has a nice shine to it.  I then cut a circle using the Layering Circles dies around where I had cut out the snowflake  (so it was shiny too) and layered a Blushing Bride circle on top.  I adhered that to the Designer Series Paper using Dimensionals.

Then I stamped the sentiment twice from the Merry Snowflakes stamp set in Versamark, sprinkled them with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set them with my Heat Tool.  Then I cut them apart and adhered them to the card using Dimensionals.  Lastly I layered every thing on a Blushing Bride card base.

Remember there is not a lot of time left to order the retiring products from the July – December Mini Catalog.  Some of the items are even on sale!

Stampin Up Penguin Playmates

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day for the Stampin’ Up!® Sale-a-bration.  I can’t decide which is my favorite product from that catalog that I was able to get for free.  I love the Counting Sheep and Delicate Dahlias stamp sets.  I love the Sheep Dies that coordinate with the Counting Sheep stamp set.  I love the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the stamp set called Penguin Place and it’s coordinating Penguin Builder Punch that are both in the 2021 July – December Mini Catalog.

To make this card I used the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.  The background of this card is a piece of this DSP that I adhered to a Just Jade card base.  I cut a 2 5/8″ x 5.5″  piece of Misty Moonlight card stock and layered that on top.  Then I cut a piece of Basic White card stock using a die from the Ornate Layers set.

The Snowman, the Polar Bear and the Penguin that I used on my card are from the other side of that Designer Series Paper.  That is one of my favorite things about Stampin’ Up!® DSP.  There are always two sides with different patterns.  I fussy cut the characters out and glued them to my card.  I am not big on fussy cutting but these were all easy to do since the lines were not complicated.

I cut out three snowflakes using the Stitched Snowflakes dies in Basic White and Misty Moonlight card stock. The sentiment from from the stamp set called Artistically Inked.

Remember, tomorrow is the last day to get free products from the Sale-a-bration catalog with a qualifying order.  There are lots of things to choose from that I am sure you will love as much as I do.

Merry Snowflakes

Stampin Up Merry Snowflakes

This is another card we made when I had some friends come over a couple weeks ago.  We used a bundle in the 2022 July – December Mini Catalog called Merry Snowflakes.  This bundle includes the stamp set of the same name and the Stitched Snowflakes Dies.  If you purchased them both in a bundle you can save 10%.

To make this card I used the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper is also in the Mini Catalog.  I love this paper.  The colors in it are Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron, Misty Moonlight, Mossy Meadow and Polished Pink.  Plus some of the sheets have silver foil on them (as in the one I used on this card).

I used one of the Stitched Snowflakes Dies to cut out the outline of a snowflake in it in Basic White card stock.  The die is so much fun because it does stitching on the outside.  I then adhered it to a piece of Silver Foil Specialty Pack.  This pack has three different finished of silver foil.  One is a brushed.  One is a matte finish and the one I used is a mirror finish.  I use Multipurpose glue when I am using any of the foil papers because I think it sticks better.  I cut another snowflake out using the same die in Blushing Bridge cardstock and layered that inside the cut out of the Basic White piece.  Then I cut a different snowflake out of the Silver Foil and adhered that to the Blushing Bride piece.  I just love the stitching on these snowflakes.

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Merry Snowflakes stamp set in Versamark ink.  I sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder on it and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  I adhered that to another piece of the Silver Foil.

Well this weekend we had another boating catastrophe.  I told you about our sailing incident in an earlier post.  This time our the lift on our motor boat collapsed and the boat when crashing down.  Luckily there was not a lot of damage to the boat but we had to pull it out of the water until we could get the lift fixed. It has been a crazy weather summer as well.  July was cold and raining and August has been hot and humid.  That is backwards from what we usually get.I am thinking this season has been cursed as far as our boating goes and maybe it is time to just take all of them out of the water and try again next year.

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time our challenge is to “CASE The Catalog”.  This is where you pick an creation from any Stampin’ Up!® catalog and make your own card using that creation as a basis.  As a disclaimer (I seem to have a lot of those lately), I choose the card I wanted to CASE (Copy & Share Everything) but once I started it went downhill from there. So this is the card I chose to CASE:

It is on page 12 of the 2021 July – December Mini Catalog.

Here is the card I made:

Stampin Up Merry Snowflakes

Ok.  I already know they are not really close because I got carried away but there are some things I did the same as the Stampin’ Up!® card.  Their card used an embossing folder for the background.  I used a die from Stitched Snowflakes.  They used Copper Foil and I used Blushing Bride cardstock but they are both pink, right?  Sort of.  Kind of.  I also used Pool Party and so did they!   I used the same sentiment as they did and I even embossed it using Silver Embossing Powder as they did.  So that is close CASEing, right?

To make this card I used the Merry Snowflakes Bundle.  This includes the Merry Snowflakes stamp set and the gorgeous Stitched Snowflakes Dies.  If you purchase them in a bundle you can save 10%.  The first thing I did was to use a die in this set on Pool Party card stock that cut out the background snowflakes.  The die itself is only an inch or so wide so I had to do it several times to cover the entire piece of cardstock.  Here is a close up of what the background looks like.  It just makes the snowflake patterns without using out the shapes.

Stampin Up Merry Snowflakes

Isn’t that pretty?

After I did the background I cut out all the snowflakes in Smoky Slate, Blushing Bridge and Basic White card stock and adhered them together using Multipurpose Glue.  Originally I was only going to do the one snowflake but I just needed more so I added the other two larger ones.  Of course, that lead to some blank spots so I had to add the Blushing Bride snowflakes too.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkled Silver Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie CASEd from the catalog.  Perhaps they did a better job than I did!
