A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off New Logo

Welcome to another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time Jackie made us a sketch challenge to follow.  Jackie is so awesome at making these sketch challenges and they are my favorite challenges to do.  Whenever I am stuck on making a card, I look for a sketch challenge to get me going again.

March 18

Another nice thing about sketch challenges is you are given an idea to start but you can change it up a big depending on what stamps you have.  In this case, I wanted to use Gift From The Garden but the stamps wouldn’t fit into little squares so I changed it.

Gift From The Garden

I also thought it would be nice to show the steps in growing something in your garden.  First you dig in the dirt to plant the seeds.  I always use gloves because I hate getting dirt under my fingernails.  It is just one of those things that bug me.  Then you have to water the seeds to make them grow and then you get beautiful results.

Now go check out what fantastic projects that Buffy made HERE and Jackie made HERE.  See you next week!

Another Valentine

Bloomin Love

Here is a quick and easy Valentine to make if you don’t have a lot of time.  Today is the 8th so you don’t have that many days left.  I know some of you are procrastinators so I thought I might post a couple of easy Valentines this week to make at the last minute.

I used some Designer Series Paper called Love Blossoms.  It is in the 2016 Occasions Catalog and comes in a 6″ x 6″ stack.  There are 48 sheets in the stack which is a ton of paper.  The stamp is from the stamp set called Bloomin Love.  It is also in the Occasions Catalog (it is even on the same page 17).  This set has the most beautiful heart stamp.  I didn’t use it on this card because I have already posted a bunch of cards with it.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase! Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order)! Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $155 worth of product for $99!

Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, Tin of Cards

Here is another birthday card using the stamp set called Vintage Leaves.  This set has a matching set of Framelits (also called Vintage Leaves) but I didn’t use them this time.  Instead, I used the stamps to make a background for this card.  By the way, if you buy both in a bundle, you can save 15%!

The greeting in the middle is actually recessed into the cardstock.  I know it is hard to tell by the picture.  I stamped the leaves onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then temporarily adhered it to the Garden Green cardstock.  Then I ran the smaller framelit from the Tags and Labels Framelits set onto both pieces of cardstock at the same time.  I had to run it through a few times to have it cut both pieces.  Then I took the two pieces of cardstock apart and ran the Very Vanilla piece through using a larger framelit.  It sounds more complicated than it is but doing it this way makes the windows line up perfectly.

Then I permanently adhered the two pieces of cardstock together on top of the Very Vanilla card background and lastly, stamped the greeting in the middle using the Tin Of Cards stamp set.  This is a Photopolymer stamp set so it was easy to line up.

I hope these directions don’t sound complicated because the card was really easy to make!

Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, Tin of Cards

The month of August always has mixed feelings for me.  The nice part is that it is my birthday month and I love birthdays!  I love everything about them.  I love presents (to give and receive), I love that you get lots of attention that day (although I don’t like going to a restaurant that sings to you!!).  I love that my family calls me if they are not with me and I love getting lots of cards (yes, that it a hint!).

The not so nice part of August is that it always means the end of summer is coming soon.  When I was in school it was a month of clothes shopping.  If you can believe it, I don’t like to clothes shop.  I don’t really like to shop at all (except online!)!  Back then, of course, we didn’t have online shopping (can you imagine such a thing?) so my mother would drag us to Korvettes, (which was like Target today) to pick out clothes and school supplies.

Then, when I had kids, I had to drag my kids out to shop.  I had three boys so you can imagine what that was like.  All they wanted to do was buy $100 sneakers!  I had to put a $50 limit of the price of them and my boys were not happy.  Now, the average price of a pair of sneakers is probably $200!  By the way, the other day I got a social security statement in the mail.  These tell you what you made since the beginning of time.  When I had three boys, I made a little less than $3,000 a year.  So, as you can see, $100 sneakers for three little boys were outrageous!

How the heck did I get on this subject anyway??  Never mind!  🙂

Vintage Leaves With Baby Wipes

Vintage Leaves, Baby Wipes

This is the last card we did at our monthly Stamp Club meeting.  It uses a technique called Baby Wipes.  This technique has been around for a really long time but my friend, Deborah made a card using it a couple of weeks ago that was so cute, I thought I would show it to my club members.

It is really easy to do.  You take a couple of baby wipes and drop different colors of ink on it.  Then you just push the stamp onto the baby wipe as if it were an ink pad and stamp it on your cardstock.   I used Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Melon Mambo.  Honestly, it might have been even better if I had used fall colors but I had already designed a card using those colors for my club that night.  Plus I wanted to use some Bermuda Bay Sequins on the card.

Although it is hard to tell, the greeting is cut into the layers of cardstock instead of layered on top.  The easiest way to do this is to line up the outside piece of cardstock (Bermuda Bay) with the inside piece (Daffodil Delight) and cut the smaller of the dies through both pieces.  You might have to run it through your Big Shot a couple of times to cut both layers.  This makes it easier to line up,  Then separate the two pieces and use a larger die on the Bermuda Bay piece being careful to line it up so it is even on all sides.  Then attached all the cardstock onto Whisper White cardstock and stamp the greeting in the middle.

Tin Of Cards Birthday

Tin Of Cards, Washi Tape

This card is full of new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Annual Catalog.  The first thing you might notice is the Washi Tape.  This set comes in all the 2015/16 In colors.  The best thing about Washi Tape is that it is so easy to use and really adds a pop of color to any project.  You just tear off a piece (you don’t even need scissors!) and stick it on your card.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Tin Of Cards.  This set actually goes with a kit (also called Tin Of Cards) but I use it all the time by itself.

Lastly you might notice the tags.  These tags are awesome!  They are called Tags & Labels Framelits.  There are two different shapes and each shape has six different sizes so you can layer them.  As you can see, I used three of them for this card.

Here is a picture of Madelyn at 2 months.  She seems to be growing so fast!  The best part is she is coming to visit me today and I can’t wait to see her!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge PCCCS151

I haven’t participated in a challenge lately so I thought I would look for one.  I came across the Paper Craft Crew Challenge (actually some friends of mine are part of the design team) and thought I would make a card using this sketch.

PCCCS106-160-016-300x300Here is my card:

By The Tide, PCCC151

I used the stamp set called By The Tide.  It has been around for a while but I still love it.  I didn’t follow the sketch exactly but I hope it is close enough.  I couldn’t figure out what to use for the three little flowers so I just left them off.  Then I decided it was a masculine card so I didn’t put a ribbon on it either.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and I cut it out using a new Framelit from the set called Tags & Labels.

If you would like to see the other entries you can click HERE.  If you visit that site tomorrow you can vote for my project (please)!
