Take It Or Leave It Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Am I the only one who thinks Fridays come pretty quickly lately?  It just seems like it was last Friday a couple of days ago.  That is a good thing in some ways because Friday is the day Buffy, Jackie and I have our Stamp Off Challenges!

Today’s challenge is a Take It Or Leave It Challenge.  This is where we are given a few items to use and we can use them or not.  In other words, it is pretty much a do whatever you want challenge!

For once, I actually used everything on the list!  I know.  Don’t fall over in shock.  I am getting better at following directions!

Wondrous Wreath, Wonderful Wreath, Tine Of Year, Stampin Up, Susanstamps.wordpress.com

I used the stamp set called Wondrous Wreath.  It is an older stamp set that is in the Annual Catalog but it is still a favorite.  This stamp set has a matching set of Framelits called Wonderful Wreath.  The banner is a stamp from a Hostess Set called Time of Year.  I used the new Real Red Glitter Stampin Emboss Powder.  It works just like regular embossing powder only it is sparkly.   I know it is hard to see in the picture but it really is sparkly! It also comes in Emerald Envy.  The Baker’s Twine also has a sparkly red thread running through it so they went well together.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made for this challenge.  I am sure we will all be delighted!

A Spring Wreath

Wondrous Wreath, Hearth & Home Thinlits, Thoughtful Banners

Now that Spring has finally arrived in Northern New York, I feel like I can post pretty spring flowers and nice subtle colors to match the season.

This card uses some old and some new merchandise from the catalog.  The old, of course, is the wreath made with the stamp set called Wondrous Wreath.  This set has some matching Framelits to cut out the wreath and the flowers. The window is from Hearth and Home Thinlits.  These Thinlits have also been around for a little while and I am so glad they stayed.

The new is the sentiment and matching banner I used.  The banner is a punch called Duet Banners. The stamp set is called Thoughtful Banners and you can save 10% by buying both in a Bundle.  The nice things about this stamp set is it is a Photopolymer Set.  That means it is flexible so I was able to bend the stamp set to match the arch of the banner.  You can’t do that with rubber!

Warm Wishes Of Joy

Winter WishesThis card was made using a variety of items.  The tree branches are from the stamp set called Winter Wishes.  As you know, it is one of my favorites from the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  I just love all the stamps in this set.  This time,  I used the branch to look like a tree with ornaments hanging down.  The ornaments are from the stamp set called Holly Jolly Greetings.  I had to add to the string in some of the ornaments to make them longer so I just used a marker to do this.  The Joy is from Wonderful Wreath Framelits.

If you want to order from the Holiday Catalog you still have until January 4th in most cases.  Stampin’ Up! has been adding a “while supplies last” to their catalogs for the last couple of years.  If something from the catalog sells out they will not be able to replace it due to time restraints.  So if you want something, order it soon.

Joyful Peaceful Wreath

Peaceful Wreath, Wonderful Wreath

I think of all my holiday decorations, my favorite is still the wreath.  I have one on my door and one above my fireplace.  I also have one in my dining room window and one hanging off the railing from the second floor.  Ok, I just realized, after typing all that, that maybe I do overdose on wreaths.  Now, they have invaded my cards.  Well, it doesn’t matter.  I still love wreaths!

I made this card using the wreath from the stamp set called Peaceful Wreath.  It is in the Holiday Catalog and, unfortunately, will be retiring at the end of the catalog.  It is too bad because I love it PLUS it has a matching set of Framelits called Wonderful Wreath.  In the set of Framelits is a Framelit that makes the word “Joy”.  It is a beautiful font and, as you know, I use it a lot in making Christmas Cards.

Peaceful Wreath

Peaceful Wreath, Christmas Greetings Thinlits

I was very happy when I saw another wreath in the 2015 Holiday Catalog that fits the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  There are now actually three different wreath sets!  One is called Wondrous Wreath It is in the Annual Catalog and can be used year round.  Another one in the Annual Catalog is called Circle of Spring which can be used in the spring and summer months and now we have Peaceful Wreath for the Holidays.

I love wreaths so this is one of my favorite things in all of the catalogs.  I almost always have a wreath on my front door.  Well, not in the spring.  When I put a wreath on my front door in the spring, a robin always decides to build a nest in it.  I know that sound so cute but really it just makes a mess of my wreath and my front entrance.  Not only that, but Mama Robin will dive bomb you when you get close to her nest so you have to use another door.

I used Peaceful Wreath to make this card.  The “merry” is from Christmas Greetings Thinlits Die and the Designer Series Paper is called Merry Moments and is also in the 2015 Holiday Catalog.

Glimmery Joy

Wondrous Wreath

Yes, I know, glimmery is not a word (my spell check turns it red when I type it) but I couldn’t think of a better word (or non-word) to describe this card so I am going with it!

One of the bad things about amateur photography is the photos don’t always show the sparkle on a card.  This card has a lot of sparkle!   It glimmers and shines under the lights.  Not so much in the photo though.  In any case I used Gold Glimmer paper for the snowflakes and the cardstock under the Whisper White.  If you have ever purchased the Glimmer paper you know how sparkly it is.  The “Joy” is from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits set and the snowflakes are from the Square Pillow Box Thinlits.

Oh, and there is not stamping on this card!

Watercooler Challenge WCC28

Banner1

It is that time again for a Watercooler Challenge!  This time Buffy gave us a color challenge.  I don’t know why, but I had a hard time with this one.  I guess that is why they call it a challenge!  If it was easy, then it might not be as much fun.  Here are the colors we needed to use:

Wondrous Wreath

I managed to use four out of the five.  I just couldn’t fit that last one into my design without getting a rash.  I used the Christmas stamp set called Wondrous Wreath but made it a spring/summer wreath instead of a Christmas one.  The background is a new embossing folder called Brick Wall and the punch at the bottom is also new and is called Washi Label.  The sentiment is from Tin Of Cards.

If you would like to see the other participant’s gorgeous creations, click HERE.  We would love for you to participate.  Just make a card using these colors (or as many of them as you can without giving yourself a rash) and post it to the Watercooler Challenge web site!
