Beautiful Friendship

Beautiful Friendship is one of my favorite stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  I was so happy when I found out that it was not going to retire with our last catalog.  It is just gorgeous and I use it often.  It is part of the Stampin Up DisINKtive line of stamps.  These stamps create different opacities for depth and make the images look almost 3D.  There are a lot of two step stamp sets that can do this but these are different because you just use one stamp.  If you look at my card you can see where the Hydrangea has light blue and dark blue petals.  This is what these stamps do.  I love them!

The colors I used for this card are So Saffron, Seaside Spray, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Old Olive and Highland Heather.  To make it I used my Stamparatus.  I put a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the SAR and placed a flower stamp where I wanted it to go.  Then I closed the top which picked up the stamp, inked it and stamped it.  I turned the piece of cardstock 180 and did the same thing again so each image was stamped twice on each side of the cardstock.  There was a little overlap with the So Saffron flower but my sentiment strip covered it.  I cut out the word Happy with the Word Wishes Dies in Basic Black cardstock.  The birthday sentiment was from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  I covered the word happy with some tape, inked the stamp and then pulled the tape off.  This way only the word birthday had ink on it.  This technique is called masking.

Blends & Designer Series Paper

One of the things I love about the Stampin’ Blends is that you can use them to color images that you stamp.  Every color comes with a light and dark pen so you can show depth in your images.  Another thing I love about them is that you can color Designer Series Paper.

For example, I took my Real Red Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends and colored this Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper

and turned it into this:

It totally changes the look of the paper and was so simple to do.  Then all I did was cut the words out using the Word Wishes dies with Whisper White Paper and adhered them to the Designer Series Paper.  You can’t see it in the photo but I put a little Wink Of Stella on the words which make them sparkle just a bit.

You can purchase the Magnolia Designer Series Paper two different ways.  They have the usual pack that contains two of six  double sided designs for a total of 12 sheets or you can purchase the Designer Series Paper in bulk which contains 10 each of 2 double sided designs for a total of 12 sheets.

Christmas Gleaming

Here is another card we made at my monthly stamp class using the Christmas Gleaming stamp set that is in the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  This stamp set has two matching ornament punches (called Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack) and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  If you missed the first card we made using this set you can see it HERE.

To make this card I first ran a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Real red Cardstock through my embossing machine using the new Embossing Folder called Stylish Scroll.  I layered that on top of a Whisper White card base.  Then I adhered a piece of Silver Foil Paper using the Multipurpose Glue.  This glue is the best way to adhere any of the Foil Papers.

I stamped the ornament in the new Delicata Metallic Ink in Silvery Simmer.  These inks are amazing.  They also come in Celestial Copper and Golden Glitz and they are all gorgeous.  They are a great way to add a little sparkle to your projects without having to emboss.  Then I punched the ornament out using the matching Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack and layered that on top of a piece of Whisper White cardstock I had cut out using the Stitched Nested Dies (love these dies!). I cut out the word “Merry” from Word Wishes Dies and added the bow I made using the Metallic Edge Ribbon in silver.

There are so many products using the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  If you would like a copy, you can pick one up for free or I can mail it to you for the cost of shipping.

A Technique Challenge

Hello everyone.  Today is another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  Today’s challenge is to use your favorite technique.  Oh boy.  This was a hard one for me.  I don’t really have a favorite technique.  I asked Buffy if plain old stamping was a technique.  I could hear her eye roll from here!  I decided to use a technique that I used a couple of years ago (you can see it HERE).  It uses ink and masks.  I did it a little differently this time after I saw a great video from Jennifer McGuire the other day.  I love her videos because she shows some great techniques in a clear and easy to understand way.

The colors I used for these cards are Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove and Basic Black.  I also used a brand new product from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  It is a new set of Masks (stencils) called Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.  I used the polka dot one.  I was very excited to see new Masks since we have had the current ones for a long time.

To make this card I used a stencil that I actually made.  It is a stencil that can be used to make a wreath out of stamped images.  I lay my cardstock in the stencil and layered the polka dot Mask over it.  I added ink to the stencil using my Stampin’ Up!® Sponges turning the cardstock with every new color.  It ended up leaving a white space where you can put the sentiment.

For the sentiments I used the stamp sets called Broadway Birthday and A Wish For Everything.  The dies I used were Stitched Rectangles and Word Wishes.

Now, let’s go check out Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite technique.  I hope they had an easier time than I did!

Word Wishes

I love word dies and Stampin’ Up!® has a few good ones.  In the last Occasions Catalog they came out with dies called Well Written and this year they added Word Wishes.  Well Written goes with the stamp set called Well Said and Word Wishes has a stamp set called A Wish For Everything.  You can save 10% if you purchase Word Wishes and A Wish For Everything in a Bundle.

I needed a masculine birthday card and I always have a harder time making those than feminine cards.  I don’t know why but I do.  I think when it comes to masculine cards, simple can be better.

To make this card I first cut out the word “Happy” using the Word Wishes dies in Whisper White. added two pieces of Designer Series Paper from the 6″ x 6″ Brights collection in Poppy Parade and Pacific Point.  I cut the circle out of Pacific Point cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Dies and adhered the die cut with Multipurpose Glue. I stamped the word ‘birthday” in Pacific Point Ink and cut it out using a die from Stitched Labels.
