More Fun With Masks

Today is my eldest son, David’s birthday.  David is an amazing young man.  He bright and handsome and one of the most generous people I know.  He will do anything for anyone.  He is a police officer and  I am so proud of him.

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club.  We used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and the Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  This paste has so much sparkle yet it is subtle and so pretty when it hits the lights.

To make this card I first adhered a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock to my Silicone Craft sheet using Washi Tape.  I then layered the brick wall Mask over the top of the cardstock and adhered that down with some Washi Tape too.  I mixed a drop or two of Coastal Cabana Ink with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste and stirred it using a Palette Knife.  Then you just spread it over the Mask.  After it dries, which does not take a very long time, I cut it down to 3 3/4″ x 5″.  That way if you missed any Embossing Paste along the edges it is ok because you cut them off anyway.

Here is another picture showing the sparkle a little better.

I cut the two balloons out using the Balloon Bouquet Punch and the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.  I had to adhere the balloons with Multipurpose Glue because Snail would not stick on the Embossing Paste.  I cut the sentiment out using the Celebrate You dies (which are retiring at the end of this current catalog) with Gorgeous Grape yardsticks and then added the Silver and Whisper White Baker’s Twine.

Happy birthday, David!

Celebration Time

Celebration Time is another stamp set that is retiring (boohoo!) on May 31st.  I have had a lot of fun with this stamp set.  It has matching Framelits called Celebration and you can still save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle until May 31st (or before if they run out of inventory).  That is something I should mention.  At the end of every catalog, when items get low or are gone from inventory, Stampin’ Up! will not be ordering any more so even though the catalog is still active, there might be a lot of products that are discontinued.  If you would like a list of things that have been discontinued already, let me know and I will email you one.

To make this card, I used put Embossing Paste on one of the masks in the Pattern Party Decorative Mask Set,  Then I took my markers (Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay) and colored some of the little squares.  I stamped the cake with Bermuda Bay ink and then cut it out using one of the Framelits from Celebration.  The banner was cut out using the banner die from Large Numbers.  It fit the banner outline from Celebration Time perfectly.

Here are some more cards I made in the past using the Celebration Time stamp set and Celebration Framelits.

A Stamp Off Color Challenge

Hello everyone!  Thanks for joining us again on our bi-weekly Stamp Off Challenge.  This week we have a color challenge.

Now, I am not sure if Buffy or Jackie gave us these colors but I do have to admit I had a hard time using them.  They are definitely outside of my comfort zone but after a lot of trial and error, I managed to make this card.

I used the stamp set called Bike Ride.  This set has matching Framelits called Build a Bike and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle. The thing I love about this set is  there is a matching Framelit for every piece of the bike.  Plus, the stamp set is a two-step stamp set which means it takes two or more stamps to make an image.  For example, the flower outline is one stamp, the flowers are another and the leaves are a third.  When I was making this card, I tried a bunch of different color combinations for the bike.  This one seemed to work the best.

Then I needed to work on the background.  I tried it with just plain cardstock but it looked too boring.  Then I tried using an Embossing Folder but it didn’t quite look right so I decided to use the Embossing Paste with the brick Decorative Mask.  I like how that turned out much better.

The sentiment is from Eastern Beauty.

Now let’s go see how Buffy and Jackie did with this color combination.

An Embossing Paste Challenge

Hello everyone.  Welcome to another BS & J Productions Stamp Off Challenge.  Today’s challenge is to make something using the new Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste.  If you haven’t tried this, you really need to.  It is different than other embossing pastes because it dries quickly.  You are going to love it!

My daughter-in-law to be has decided to go back to school to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  I am so proud of her doing this.  It is going to be a challenge for her since she works full time, has a 5 month old baby (Emory Jade whom you have all met) and all the other things that need to get done in life.  I decided to send her a card telling her how proud I am.

I thought the stamp set called Bike Ride would be perfect for this.  It has a set of matching Framelits called Build A Bike (you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle).  Although, she is not a kid, school, bikes, books and apples all go together.  I used the Embossing Paste to make a brick road.  To get this color I added one drop of Cherry Cobbler Ink and one drop of Cajun Craze Ink.  Stampin’ Up! sells the Pattern Party Decorative Masks in four different designs (one of which is the brick pattern).  They also sell a package of three different Palette Knives to use with the Paste.

The sentiment is from Wild About Flowers.  I masked off the different lines so I could stamp them in different places.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made using the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste.

Lift Me Up

Have you ever been to a hot air balloon festival or had a ride in one?  I have not but I have seen them from a distance.  All the balloons in the air look amazing and beautiful.  Each one is different and they are all so colorful.  Personally, I would probably be scared to death to ride in one.  I am not really fond of heights although I don’t have Acrophobia (fear of heights).

The stamp set I used in this card is called Lift Me Up.  It was in the 2017 Occasions Catalog and was carried over  into the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It has a set of matching Thinlit called Up & Away which make it so easy to cut out the balloons.

I used our new Embossing Paste and Pattern Party Decorative Masks to make the clouds.  I purposely didn’t try to smooth out the clouds because I wanted them to look a little fluffy.  Stampin’ Up!  Embossing past is amazing.  It is really easy to work with and dries fairly quickly so you don’t have to wait all day to continue making your project.  Stampin’ Up! even sells a set of three Palette Knives to help you spread the Embossing Paste evenly.

Daisy Delight & Embossing Paste

This is the first card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  We used a couple of new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2017/2018 Annual Catalog to make it.

The first product we used is the new Embossing Paste.  Where have you been all my life?  I love this stuff.  It comes in white but you can make it any color you want by adding a couple of drops of ink to it.  In this case, we added So Saffron ink.  This paste is great.  It adds a lot of texture to the card and Stampin’ Up! makes it is so easy to do.  You can buy the Embossing Paste, the Pattern Party Decorative Masks (we used the brick one) and the Palette Knives.   We put a little paste on the Silicone Craft Sheet, added the ink and mixed it up with a Palette Knife.  Then we held down the mask with a couple of pieces of Washi Tape onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and spread the past over the mask.  It dries fairly quickly so make sure you wash the Silicone Sheet, Palette Knife and Mask right after spreading it.

The stamp set is called Daisy Delight.  It has a matching punch called Daisy Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.
