Tasteful Backgrounds

These are two cards we made at my monthly stamping class a couple of weeks ago.  They are a take on the Floating Frame technique by Jennifer McGuire but I didn’t make them floating because the spaces were too small for Dimensionals.

To make both of these cards I first took a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut it five times in different places using a die from Tasteful Backgrounds.  Then I took two dies from the Stitched Rectangles and cut out the piece in the middle and around the edges.  The middle piece was used to make the card on the top and the outside piece was used to make the card on the bottom.

The colors on the top card are are Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green.  The flower was made using the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape.  This Washi Tape is a big roll of petals.  We used six of them to make the flower.  I cut a small circle using the 3/4″ Circle Punch and attached the tips of the petals on top of it.  Then I turned the flower over and used my Embossing Buddy to take the stickiness out of the edges of the petals so they would not adhere to the cardstock and look flat. I put a Clear Faceted Gem in the middle of the flower and adhered it to my card.  I stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings in Rich Razzleberry ink and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch.

The colors I used for the second card were Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Mango Melody.  I attached the piece I had left over from the first card and attached it to a piece of Pool Party cardstock I had cut put using the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I stamped the cake from the stamp set called Piece Of Cake in Mango Melody and punched it out using the Cake Builder Punch.  I punched out the cake stand in Mango Melody cardstock.  The sentiment is from Beautiful Friendship. Lastly, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots for some color and sparkle.

It was fun to get two cards out of one die cut!

Tabs For Everything

Tabs For Everything is one of the stamp set I got for free while attending a Stampin’ Up! OnStage event.  I love those events.  We get free stuff (which is awesome) but more importantly we get to spend time with other Demos. Some of them I met online and finally got to meet in person and others just live too far away to see often so it gives us an excuse to see each other again.  We also learn new techniques and just have a lot of fun.  If you are interested in attending one of these events (the next one is in April) then you need to join as a Demonstrators because customers can not attend.  It only costs $99 (plus tax) to join and you get $125 worth of free product of your choice.  Plus, if you join between during Sale-a-bration (January 3rd -March 31st) you can two more stamps sets for free!  So think about it for a couple of weeks and just say yes!  There is no obligation to buy another thing if you don’t want to but I know you will want to!  If you are going to place a $100, then it will even save you money because Stampin’ Up! doesn’t charge shipping for Starter Kits!

Anyway, I made this card for one of my 15 December birthdays.  It is a simple birthday card and I decided it was perfect for a masculine card.  Tabs For Everything has a matching punch called Circle Tab and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

A Colorful Birthday

If you know me at all, you know I love Big Bold Sentiments!  The 2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog has a bunch of stamp sets with Big Bold Sentiments in it.  It made me so happy when I saw them.  The thing that made me really smile was when I saw the Big Shot page in the catalog and it had this Big Bold Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  It was the first thing on my list.  It must have made a lot of my customers happy too because almost all of them purchased this die.

What better way is there to show off a Big Bold Die then with a ton of color?  I took all my punches out and just started punching circles out of all different bright bold colors.  I used every punch between the sizes of 1/2″ to 2″ and just scattered the pieces around.  I used a piece of black and white Designer Series Paper from Pick A Pattern for the background to go with the Basic Black cardstock.  This was a really easy card to make that gives a pop of color.

Beautiful Bouquet Sketch Challenge

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge by Buffy, Jackie and me is a sketch challenge.  These are my favorite challenges because, frankly, I find them the easiest.  All you have to do is look at the sketch and then pick out some products that would go with it.  Here is the sketch.

I decided to use Beautiful Bouquet to make a card using this sketch.

This is such a fun set.  It has matching Framelits called Bouquet Bunch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  There are 37 stamps in this set and 21 dies!  That is an amazing amount.  There are 15 sentiments included and some of them are for the inside of a card.

The Designer Series Paper is called Delightful Daisy.  The thing I love the most about Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Paper is it is two sided so if you don’t like one side you can use the other. The only problem I run into is most of the time I like both sides and can’t make up my mind which to use!

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made using this card sketch.  I am sure we will love both of them!

Don’t forget there is a little more than a week left for Bonus Days and The Christmas in July Starter Kit Offer.  Hurry before these great events are gone!

For You With Candy Dots

Petite Petals, Flower Shop, Pictogram Punches

This card uses some retiring products and some products that are being carried over.  One of the stamp sets that is retiring that I will miss is called Pictogram Punches.  I used it for the little flower on this card.  There is a set of matching punches called Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack that is also retiring.  The biggest thing on this card I will miss are the Candy Dots.  They are perfect to add a little color to your card.

The good news is Flower Shop and Petite Petals, along with their matching punches are carrying forward into the new catalog.  I was surprised because they have been around for a while, but I believe they are still very popular.

Check out the Retirement List and order what you want before June 1st.  Once they are gone, they are gone forever!
