Frightening Butterflies

Papillion Potpourri, Timeless Textures

I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but I am trying to get out of my comfort zone and make cards using stamps I don’t normally use, using techniques that are different (for me), coloring more (something I don’t really enjoy), using colors that are not my favorites and even making a vintage card or two (those are coming soon!).  I think this card has just about all of those things.  Well maybe not, but they have a couple of them.

One thing I am not fond of is butterflies.  If I see one flying around going from flower to flower, then that is ok.  If I see a swarm, I am running for my life.  I went to a Butterfly Garden once, which was really a very hot indoor atrium with hundreds of butterflies all over.  They got in my hair and flew into me and before you left the atrium you had to be blown off in case there were any stuck to you.  It was a bug nightmare.  After I made this card, I realized the circles from Timeless Textures make the butterflies look like they are flying around in crazy circles.  It reminded me of the atrium.   Another thing I am not fond of is purple but I used it in this card.  I am getting so brave!

Another Butterfly Basics

Butterfly Basics

As you can tell, I really like the stamp set called Butterfly Basics.  I certainly have made a lot of cards using it lately.  The odd thing is, I am not a fan of butterflies but for some reason this set really caught my eye.  I think it is the fern and the flowers that are my favorite stamps.  The stamp set also have a matching set of thinlits called Butterfly Thinlits.  You can save 15% by buying both!  It is always nice to save money!

Kinda Eclectic Screen Card

Kinda Eclectic, Screen Card

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly Club Meeting.  I am sure you have seen these screen cards on the internet before because they are all the rage.  I don’t know who actually thought up the idea in the first place, but I thought it was a very cute idea.  The card is actually very easy to make.  You start with a piece of cardstock that is 8.25 x 6 (I used Crumb Cake).  Then you score it at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.  The Decorative Label Punch is used to cut out the “legs” of the card.  The panels (I used Very Vanilla) are 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  That stamp set we used is called Kinda Eclectic.
