Hey Chick

Hey Chick, Sale-a-bration, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is the second card we made at our monthly stamp club last week.  It uses the cutest stamp set!  It is called Hey, Chick and you can get it for FREE with a qualifying purchase.  This stamp set really is just adorable.  It has three different chickens and an egg along with a few sentiments.

Hey Chick

Another exciting thing about this card is that we colored it using the new Watercolor Pencils that are in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The best thing about these pencils is they come in Stampin’ Up! colors!  We colored the chicken and his (?) crazy hair using these pencils and Blender Pens.  Blender Pens smooth out the pencil lines and help you blend the colors.  Here is a video made by Stampin’ Up! showing you various ways to use the Watercolor Pencils.

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase! Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order)! Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $125 worth of product for $99 PLUS your choice of TWO FREE STAMP SETS (an added value of up to $104)!!

Totally Trees

Totally Trees, Thoughtful Banners, Sheltering Tree, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This week has been amazing weather-wise.  We covered three of the seasons in this card.  Last week it was Fall with the trees full of bright colors and fluttering to the ground.  It was in the mid to high 50’s during the day. Then on Saturday it was almost 70 degrees and Rob was out mowing the lawn (well more like mulching the leaves) in shorts.  Then came Sunday.  It started snowing.  We are supposed to get anywhere between 2 and 18 inches.  As of writing this post we have gotten about 6 so far.  Schools are closed and I am hiding inside.

I made this card using the stamp set called Totally Trees.  It is in the 2016 Holiday Catalog.  It doesn’t really fit into all the holidays this time of year but it certainly fit well with the weather lately!  This set will be available until January 3rd which is the last day for the Holiday Catalog.  The 2017 Occasions Catalog starts on January 4th and you are going to love it.  The sentiment and banner is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and Duet Banner Punch.  You can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.

In the meantime, Don’t forget the Online Extravaganza goes until November 28th!

Falling Flowers And Thoughtful Banners

Falling Flowers, Thoughtful Banners, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

Here is a quick and easy birthday card that you can make in just a few minutes.  I used the stamp sets called Falling Flowers.  This stamp set has a matching set of Framelits called May Flowers and you can save 10% buy purchasing them in a Bundle.  I didn’t actually use the Framelits for this card but it is always awesome when you can buy matching Framelits.  That is one of the best things about Stampin’ Up!

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Thoughtful Banners.  This stamp set has a matching punch called Duet Banners (again, you can save money by purchasing the Bundle).

I forgot to share Madelyn’s Halloween costume.  As some of you know, Madelyn has a dog named Waffles.  Waffles is a Sheep-a-doodle.  Madelyn’s parents decided to dress her up as a Sheep – Baby for Halloween!  She is just adorable, if I do say so myself!

Pop Of Paradise & Badges & Banners

Pop Of Paradise, Badges & Banners

Sometimes you need something for the background of a card and you don’t have the designer Series Paper you want so you can make your own!  You can just use a smaller stamp and stamp it in different colors (such as I did) or use different stamps to make a pattern.  I did this using the pineapple from the stamp set called Pop Of Paradise.  I stamped it in Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush and Crushed Curry.

The “badge” is from the stamp set called Badges & Banners and it has a matching punch called Best Badge.  You can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.  This stamp set also has a couple of stamps that match the Duet Banner Punch.  That is one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up!.  You can mix and match items to get the most out of your purchases.

A Patriotic Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

It is my favorite day of the week and another Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge was to make a patriotic card to celebrate the Fourth Of July.

stamp off patriotic

Of course, I had to use Real red Whisper White and Night Of Navy.  What other colors could you possibly use when making a patriotic card?!

Thoughtful Banners

This card was easy to make because I had a ton of real red scraps leftover from trimming cards.  It did take a while to line all those strips up, but it wasn’t too bad.
Happy Birthday, America!

Now let’s go check out Jackie’s and Buffy’s blogs to see what wonderful projects they did!

Craft Projet Central Challenge

I have had a little trouble lately making cards.  It is called lack of mojo and for some reason it has hit me hard!  I was talking to Buffy and Jackie (my favorite Stamp Off buddies) about it and Buffy suggested I try a challenge and sent me this Craft Project Central Challenge.

060-232x300

I had a rough time of it but managed to come up with something worth posting.  Of course, this was after throwing out 2 or 3 tries!

Badges & Banners,

I used a stamp set that I won at the Stampin’ Up! ONStage in Salt Lake City.  It actually comes with a matching punch and I forgot to order it so I had cut out the bird cage.  The Designer Series Paper is called Blooms & Bliss.  It is really pretty with nice color combinations.  This piece happens to use Mint Maccaron, Island Indigo and Sahara Sand.  The great thing about Designer Series Paper is it has two sides.  The banner I used it the other side of the flowers.  The little hearts are from the Owl Builder Punch and the sentiment is punched out with the Duet Banners Punch.

A Spring Wreath

Wondrous Wreath, Hearth & Home Thinlits, Thoughtful Banners

Now that Spring has finally arrived in Northern New York, I feel like I can post pretty spring flowers and nice subtle colors to match the season.

This card uses some old and some new merchandise from the catalog.  The old, of course, is the wreath made with the stamp set called Wondrous Wreath.  This set has some matching Framelits to cut out the wreath and the flowers. The window is from Hearth and Home Thinlits.  These Thinlits have also been around for a little while and I am so glad they stayed.

The new is the sentiment and matching banner I used.  The banner is a punch called Duet Banners. The stamp set is called Thoughtful Banners and you can save 10% by buying both in a Bundle.  The nice things about this stamp set is it is a Photopolymer Set.  That means it is flexible so I was able to bend the stamp set to match the arch of the banner.  You can’t do that with rubber!

In With The New, Out With The Old

Zoo Babies, Thoughtful Banners, Duet Banner Punch

All month I have been talking about how sad I am that some of the Stampin’ Up! products I love are retiring.  The thing is, though, it is also a really exciting time too.  Stampin’ Up! demonstrators were allowed to purchase some of the new items in the Annual Catalog that starts June 1st.  I decided to make a card using one of my favorite sets that is going to retire (Zoo Babies) with one of the new sets that is coming out.  That set is called Thoughtful Banners.  It also has a matching punch called Duet Banners.

In addition to that, I also used a new In Color with this card.  It is the dark blue color and is called Dapper Denim.  See the ribbon?  That is a new Ruched Ribbon that is also in Dapper Denim.  I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about this ribbon.  I thought it might be hard to tie but it was actually easy.  It is a little stiffer which makes it easier to tie.  It comes in all the new In Colors.  You are going to love it!

Here is a picture of Madelyn on her first birthday in the dress I bought her.  She looked adorable in it, although she did not really cooperate with having her picture taken.  We must have taken a hundred photos and none turned out as well as wished.

The Countdown Has Begun!

Going Global

There is only a week left before the the 2015/2016 Annual and 2016 Occasions Catalogs retire. That means there is only 7 days left for you to buy some awesome products that will not be available beginning June 1st.  Yes, the new catalog coming out is amazing, but make sure you have gotten everything you want out of the older catalogs before it is too late.

One of my favorite sets from the Occasions Catalog is called Going Global.  It was an entire suite in that catalog and included stamps, an embossing folder and beautiful Designer Series Paper.  I am sad that it is not being carried over.  I think it makes great masculine cards and we all know how hard that is to do.

I mixed a little new with the old on this card.  The banner and sentiments are from a new set in the new Annual Catalog called Thoughtful Banners.  It is a set that has 53 (yes FIFTY THREE) different stamps in it.  Plus, it has a matching punch called Duet Banner (because it punches out two different banners).

Remember, June 1st is coming soon!

A Sneak Peek of Moroccan Nights

Moroccan Nights

Moroccan Nights is a stamp set that I received when I went to Stampin’ Up! OnStage in Salt Lake City last month.  It seems like that happen so long ago!  Anyway, Shelli Gardner, the Co-Founder and Board President and her daughter, Sara Douglass picked a stamp set and showed how it could be used in a variety of styles.  This was the stamp set they used.  Shelli made a vintage card and Sara made a simpler one.  I made a card a couple of weeks ago using the lanterns from this set HERE.  This time I made a very simple card using the Medallion.  I used one of the new In Colors called Sweet Sugarplum.  This is one of those colors that had to grow on me but once I saw how it paired perfectly with Rich Razzleberry, I started to like it more.  That  happens to me a lot.  There was no way I would ever use Cucumber Crush until I paired it with Bermuda Bay and suddenly I started using it a lot.

The sentiment and banner are also two new items in the Annual Catalog that begins June 1st.  The stamp set is called Thoughtful Banners and the punch is called Duet Banners.  You will be able to save 10% by buying both in a Bundle.
