Grandchildren Valentines

I made these Valentines for three out of four grandchildren this year.  I will admit I did not make one for Olivia.  It is not because I don’t love her but she is only 8 months old and I think she would just eat it.  Everything goes in her mouth.  Then I would feel bad because she ate something that might not be so good for her.  Plus she might get Highland Heather Ink on her face and her parents probably wouldn’t like that.  I figure a grand has to be at least 2 before they get cards from me.  Until then, they just get lots of hugs and kisses.

To start with, I used the Note Cards & Envelopes that are in the 2020 Annual Catalog.  The cards are 3 1/2″ x 5 and you get 20 cards and 20 envelopes in the pack.  They come in Whisper White (I used this one for the Toucan card) or Very Vanilla (which I used for the elephant cards).

The top Valentine is for Nolan.  I used  the stamp set called Bonanza Buddies and the matching dies called Bonanza Dies.  They are part of the Birthday Bonanza Suite that are in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog and you can save 10% if you purchase them in a Bundle.  The Suite also includes a ribbon, tiny little pompoms and gusseted cellophane bags.  This Suite is perfect for birthday parties and valentines!

To make Nolan’s card I first cut the tag out in Mango Melody cardstock using one of the dies from the Bonanza Dies.  I cut the Toucan out of the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper.  I love that the dies match some of the designs in this DSP.  The heart balloons are from a retired punch (sorry about that) and the sentiment is from the stamp set called Meant To Be.  It is in the Annual Catalog.

The next card was the one I made for Madelyn and Emy.  I used the Little Elephant stamp set and the Elephant Builder Punch.  I stamped the larger elephant in Highland Heather ink and the smaller one in Blushing Bride. Both granddaughters love sparkly things so I used some Wink of Stella on the heart and the elephants.  Every girl needs a little sparkle in their lives

Little Elephant

I think Little Elephant is one of the cutest stamp sets for little people that Stampin’ Up!® has ever had.  I just love those little guys.  Plus it has a matching punch which makes it even more fun and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

Of course, they may be a reason I love this set so much.  Yes!  I am going to have another grandchild and last week we found out it is going to be a girl!  Honestly, I am not sure how this keeps happening (the girl part!!).  Obviously it is genetics but it still boggles my mind.  My father was from a family with all boys.  His brother and he had all girls.  I had all boys and now my three sons had all girls (for their first child).  How weird is that?  Of course, we also have Nolan but it is still strange that each of my boys had a girl first.  Anyway, I am in girl heaven.  I never got to buy girly clothes and I love it!  Madelyn’s father did tell me that she really needed play clothes more than cute, sparkly, frilly dresses but too bad.  He can buy the play clothes!  Anyway, the parents to be did a baby reveal.  They had the ultrasound technician write down the sex of the baby and put it in a sealed envelope.  They gave it to a friend who had a ballon and a fake bottle of champagne filled with pink confetti so when they popped them pink confetti went flying everywhere!

The colors I used on this card are Grapefruit Grove and Gorgeous Grape.  I first stamped the elephant in Gorgeous Grape and punched it out using the Elephant Builder Punch.  I stamped the balloons in Grapefruit Grove, adhered the elephant and then cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  The sentiment was also cut out using these dies.  The Designer Series Paper is called In Color 6″ X 6″ (2018-2020).  The ribbon is 1/4″ Mini Striped Ribbon in Gorgeous Grape.

Little Elephant

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  This was our meeting to make Christmas cards for each other.  I will show you the beautiful cards everyone made very soon.  You are going to love them!

We used the stamp set called Little Elephant with the matching punch called Elephant Builder Punch.  They are both in the 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  This set is perfect for making baby shower, birthday and other themes because of the different sentiments.  The colors I used for this card are Gorgeous Grape and Coastal Cabana.  I love these two colors together.

By the way, there is a method to my madness in having my club members make a baby card in December.  You would think I would have showed them all Holiday cards but I had to throw this one in.  It turns out I am going to add another grandchild to my growing family in June.  My son, David is having a baby.  Well, you know he isn’t actually having the baby.  His significant other, Brittany is.  I needed to clarify that in case you thought another miracle happened in the month of December.

Little Elephant

I had the best birthday week and weekend!  Zachary, Mary and Emory (Emy) were up visiting from Alabama.  They live so far away that I don’t get to see them very often so it was a great treat.  Emy is 18 months old now.  I don’t know how that happened so quickly.  She is just beautiful and a joy to have around.  She is starting to talk and says Yaya (that’s me), Bobbob (Rob) and Emma (our Golden Retriever).  I’ll have some pictures (of course) for you in the next couple of days.

If you have been following me for a while you know I don’t usually do cutesy cards with cute, adorable stamp sets.  The second I saw the stamp set called Little Elephant, I knew I had to have it.  Of course, I put it off because it was not my “normal” kind of set but every time I went back to the catalog it caught my eye.  So, I bought it this month and I still think it is adorable and I am glad I did.

Little Elephant has a matching punch called Elephant Builder and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The punch cuts out both elephants as well as their ears and some eyes.  I left the ears alone with this card because they are so cute by themselves but you could use a Designer Series Paper or a different color if you want to.

The colors I used are Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral.

Maybe having grandchildren has softened me to kid cards!
