Christmas Is Gleaming

Hello everyone.  It is once again time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our challenge is called “Foiled Again”.  Jackie came up with that.  Isn’t that cute and clever!

Stampin Up Christmas Is Gleaming

I decided to use some Specialty Designer Series Paper  for this challenge because usually when it is called Specialty Paper it means it has some kind of foil on it.  The paper I chose is called Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and is in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  This entire group of products was in last year’s Holiday Mini Catalog and was so popular, Stampin’ Up!® decided to bring it back again this year.  This group of products includes the stamp set called Christmas Gleaming, Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack and the beautiful DSP I used on my card.  I have to say it is one of my favorite DSPs I have ever purchased.  The colors are magnificent!

To make this card I first stamped the ornaments in Versamark Ink and embossed them with Copper Embossing Powder (which, I am sorry to say, I just discovered is retired).  Then I punch them out using the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack.  I also stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink and using the Copper Embossing Powder on that too.   I backed a piece of the Designer Series Paper  with Copper Foil Paper and the other piece with Night of Navy cardstock.  I used some Dimensionals on one of the ornaments and on the sentiment to pop it up a bit.

Now, let’s go see how Buffy and Jackie were “Foiled Again”.

Christmas Gleaming

This is the Christmas card I sent to family and friends this year.  It uses all my favorite things!  The card base is Pretty Peacock, the background has Copper and there are stars on it.  What more could you want in a Christmas card?

To make this card I first punched the ornament using the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack and the tree using the Pine Tree Punch out Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This paper is just gorgeous and I am so happy that it will carry over into the 2020 Holiday Catalog.  If you don’t want to wait that long you can still order by January 2nd.

After that I cut out the star swirls using the Stitched Star dies.  These are also carrying over but they will be available in the new 2020 January-June Mini that starts on January 3rd.  I layered the ornaments and the star swirls on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had layered over a piece of Copper Foil.  As a little helpful ink, it is best to use Multipurpose glue when adhering any of the Foil sheets Stampin’ Up!® sells.  Regular snail doesn’t hold it as well.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

Christmas Gleaming Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today’s BS & J Productions challenge is a sketch challenge.

I love sketch challenges because they are the easiest for me.  Whenever I don’t have a single idea in my head I look for a sketch challenge and fit it to whatever stamps I have.

I decided to use the Brightly Gleaming Suite of products that are in the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  This is my favorite Suite in the catalog.  The stamp set, called Christmas Gleaming has beautiful ornaments and fun sentiments for the Holidays.  Plus, this set has TWO matching punches called Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack.  If you buy the stamp set and the punches together you can save 10%.  The best part of this Suite is the Designer Series Paper called Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  It uses Very Vanilla, Night Of Navy, Pretty Peacock, and Mossy Meadow and has beautiful copper foil designs.

Last week I told her you about attending OnStage in Hartford CT.  One of the presenters (I am sorry I can’t remember who) gave me this great idea to use on this card.  If you look at the ornament I punched out of Copper Foil you can see a design on it.  To make it I stamped the ornament on the Copper Foil Paper using Versamark and then embossed it using Clear Embossing Powder.  You should use your Stamparatus when doing this because the Copper Foil is slippery with the Versamark and smudged the first time I tried it.

Here is a close up of it:

Isn’t it gorgeous?  I just love this idea and I am sure you will see it more often from me.

The sentiment I used is from a retired stamp set but I also embossed it using Versamark and Copper Embossing Powder.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I love that we don’t show each other our designs ahead of time so it is always a surprise for me too.

Christmas Gleaming

Here is another card we made at my monthly stamp class using the Christmas Gleaming stamp set that is in the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  This stamp set has two matching ornament punches (called Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack) and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  If you missed the first card we made using this set you can see it HERE.

To make this card I first ran a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Real red Cardstock through my embossing machine using the new Embossing Folder called Stylish Scroll.  I layered that on top of a Whisper White card base.  Then I adhered a piece of Silver Foil Paper using the Multipurpose Glue.  This glue is the best way to adhere any of the Foil Papers.

I stamped the ornament in the new Delicata Metallic Ink in Silvery Simmer.  These inks are amazing.  They also come in Celestial Copper and Golden Glitz and they are all gorgeous.  They are a great way to add a little sparkle to your projects without having to emboss.  Then I punched the ornament out using the matching Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack and layered that on top of a piece of Whisper White cardstock I had cut out using the Stitched Nested Dies (love these dies!). I cut out the word “Merry” from Word Wishes Dies and added the bow I made using the Metallic Edge Ribbon in silver.

There are so many products using the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  If you would like a copy, you can pick one up for free or I can mail it to you for the cost of shipping.

Christmas Gleaming

Hello everyone.  Today is another Buffy, Jackie and Susan Stamp Off Challenge.  Today’s challenge is to use a stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Holiday Catalog.  The hardest thing about this challenge was to pick which one.  There are so many great stamp sets in this catalog.

I decided to use the Brightly Gleaming Suite for my card.  This is one of my favorites in the Holiday Catalog.  The stamp set is called Christmas Gleaming.  It has two matching punches called Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack, gorgeous Designer Series Paper called Brightly Gleaming, an embossing folder and some great embellishments.

To make this card I first cut a 1.5″ x 5.5″ strip of Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper.  As I said above, this paper is absolutely gorgeous.  The colors are rich and it has Copper Foil on most sheets.  The cardstock is Very Vanilla because the DSP background is also Very Vanilla.   I cut a small strip of Noble Peacock Foil Sheets in Blueberry Bushel to put behind it.  Then I stamped the ornaments in Blueberry Bushel, Mossy Meadow and Pretty Peacock and punched them out using the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack.  I drew the lines with a Stampin’ Write Marker and a ruler and stamped the sentiment both with Blueberry Bushel Ink.  I adhered the ornaments using Dimensionals.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.  I know, from past experience that whatever they used, I will have to own!
