Hello Ladybug

Stampin Up Hello Ladybug

I love the Hello Ladybug stamp set and the coordinating punch called Ladybug Builder Punch.  It is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2022 January – June Mini Catalog but I am happy to say that it is being carried over into the 2022/2023 Annual Catalog.  The only thing is the 10% bundle savings will not be available when the Mini Catalog retires on June 30th.  If you like this set and want to order it is better to do so now then wait so you can take advantage of the discount.

I have to say I can not take credit for turning the ladybug into a bee.  I saw many cards doing this so I can’t give credit to whomever first came up with it, but I thought it was brilliant and decided to make a card using it this way.  One of the things I did do differently was to punch her wings out using Vellum.  Now, I am sure there are others who did this but when I made this card I did not see any so I thought this was a very clever idea!

To make this card I first cut three 1.5″ x 3.75″ pieces of the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper and layered them on a 4″ x 5.25″ of Basic White card stock and a Bumble Bee card base.  Before I forget, Bumble Bee is one of the InColors that will be retiring on May 3rd.

After doing this I punched out the body of the bee in Basic Black card stock using the Ladybug Builder Punch.  Then I cut out small strips of Bumble Bee card stock and adhered them on the body of the bee.  I punched out the wings using Vellum and attached them to the bee.  I punched out two daisies using the Medium Daisy Punch in Flirty Flamingo card stock and the center in Bumble Bee.  I stamped the leaf in Granny Apple Green ink and cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies.  I also cut out a larger Bumble Bee circle. Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink.

There are so many stamp sets that are not available to order anymore so again, if you like this one, take advantage of the discounted bundle and order it soon.

Daisy Garden

Stampin Up Daisy Garden

Daisy Garden is a new background stamp that is in the 2021/2022 Stampin’ Up!® Up Annual Catalog.  They offer a few different background stamps and I like all of them but this one caught my eye because it was an image and not just a background.  You can stamp it and leave it alone or you can color it with your Stampin’ Up!® Write Markers, Watercolor Pencils or Blends.

For this card I decided to use this large background stamp on Designer Series Paper.  I always forget that DSP is great for backgrounds but you can also stamp on it to make it more interesting.  In this card I stamped it onto a piece of Soft Succulent In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Assortment using Evening Evergreen ink.  I used the Stamparatus to do this which allowed me to stamp it multiple times for good coverage.  After stamping it I cut it down to 3.75″ x 5″ and layered it on top of a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of Evening Evergreen card stock and a Soft Succulent card base.

After that I stamped six small daisies from the stamp set called Daisy Lane and punched them out using the Medium Daisy Punch in So Saffron ink.  I used two daisies to make one flower.   I stamped the centers of the flowers in Evening Evergreen ink and fussy cut them out.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Artistically Inked.  I stamped it in Versamark and sprinkled White Embossing Powder on top and heated it with my Heat Tool.  When I emboss something I also use my Stamparatus in case some of the embossing powder doesn’t stick so you can stamp it again in the exact same spot.  I also like to emboss a sentiment twice to make it stand out more (which I did in this case).

As a side note, Rob and I are so fortunate in being able to have our cottage on Lake Ontario in the summer and in Nashville in the winter.  When we left New York, Fall had already started and the weather was in the high 60’s with cool nights.  Then we arrived in Nashville for another two months of summer.  This past week it has actually been a bit hot (in the mid to high 80’s) but I am not complaining.  The longer the summer lasts, the happier I am.  It is hard for me to make Fall and winter cards when it is so warm but this is a reality check for everyone.  Christmas is only a couple of months away.  It is time to think about your Christmas cards.  Stampin’ Up!® offers some amazing Christmas sets in the Annual and the Mini Catalogs.  You need to order soon to have enough time to make those beautiful cards.  Don’t forget adhesive and card stock while you are ordering!

A Purple Challenge

Hello everyone. It is time again for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our challenge was to use the color purple.  This was a pretty easy challenge since Stampin’ Up!®  has a number of gorgeous purple colors.

The purple I chose to use is Highland Heather.  It is our medium purple and my favorite.  To make this card, I first cut a 2.5″ x 5.25″ piece of Highland Heather cardstock. Then I embossed it using the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder which is in the 2020 Mini Catalog.  I love the design of this folder.

Next I used the Medium Daisy Punch and punched out six daisies in Whisper White cardstock.  I layered two of them together to make the three daisies.  I used the Sprig Punch to punch out the leaves in Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment from Vibrant Vases in Gorgeous Grape ink.  Lastly I added the Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots to the center of the flowers to add a pop of color.

Now, lets go see what Buffy and Jackie made using the color purple.  Will it be Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape or maybe even Blackberry Bliss?!

Scoring Challenge

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge by Jackie, Buffy and me.  Today’s challenge is to use our Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  You could make a 3D item or a card.  I chose to make a card.

To make this card I first took a piece of Purple Posy cardstock and cut it to 5″ x 3.75″.  Then I scored it at 1″, 1 1/8″, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″ and 1 1/2″ so I have 5 score lines 1/8″ apart.  Then I flipped the cardstock once and did the same thing. I layered this piece on top of a 5.25″ x 4″ piece of Gorgeous Grape and onto a card base of Highland Heather.

Here is what the score lines look like up close.

I punched out two of the large daisies using the Daisy Punch and two of the smaller daisies using the Medium Daisy Punch.  Then I punched a circle in Daffodil Delight cardstock using the 1/2″ circle punch.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

Daisy Lane & Birch

I love background stamps.  They add so much texture to a card.  Birch is a new background stamp that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  We have birch trees all over our neighborhood and I have memories of sending letters using birch bark to my grandparents who lived in Vermont and Florida.  I also saw a card online that used the Birch stamp for water.  It was awesome!

The colors I used for this card are Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Smoky Slate.  The easiest way to stamp with such a large stamps is to use your Stamparatus.  That way if you don’t get ink in all the right places you can just stamp it again in the exact same spot.  If you don’t have a Stamparatus (what?  that is just craziness!), then you can always turn the background stamp upside side, ink it and then lay your cardstock on top and rub.  But really.  You need to get a Stamparatus!

I stamped the flowers from the stamp set called Daisy Lane and punched from out using the Daisy Punch and the Medium Daisy Punch.  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Band Together.  I love the font in this stamp set.

Daisy Lane

I have seen a lot of photographs, cards and pictures online using a colored background with a pop of white.  I love this look and decided to create a card using it.  Actually, in the coming weeks you are probably going to see a lot of cards using this idea (I am just warning you ahead of time).

To make this card I first took a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Gray Granite cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine using the Subtle 3D embossing Folder..  I love how this folder adds a little texture to the background of a card.  I layered this onto a card base of Gray Granite.  Next I cut the oval frame using two of the Layering Ovals dies in Whisper White cardstock and one in Gray Granite using the larger Oval.  If you look closely you will see that the middle section inside the Oval frame is not embossed.  I punched out the leaves using the Leaf Punch also using the Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped two of the smaller daisies from Daisy Lane using So Saffron Ink and punched them out using the Medium Daisy Punch (you can save 10% by purchasing that stamp set and punch in a Bundle).  I put everything together and then stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Only three more days left for Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!

Daisy Lane

This is one of the cards we made at my monthly stamp class.  I used the stamp set called Daisy Lane along with the matching Medium Daisy Punch (you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle) and the Daisy Punch.  I love it when Stampin’ Up!® makes sets that can go together.  In this case the stamp set called Daisy Delight also matches the Daisy Punch.

To make this card I first stamped the two larger daisies in Purple Posy and Highland Heather Ink and punched them out using the Daisy Punch.  Then I stamped the smaller daisy in Gorgeous Grape, punched that out using the Medium Daisy Punch and layered all the daisies together.  I cut a piece of Whisper White and Crushed Curry cardstock using the Stitched Nested Dies and adhered them together.  Then I cut the top off of them.  If you adhere them before cutting them, you don’t have to worry about lining them up afterwards.  I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape and adhered the daisies underneath it.  The Designer Series Paper I used for the background is called Mosaic Mood.

The last part of the card was to dye the White Baker’s Twine.  I cut a piece of it and put it in a plastic zip top bag.  I added about 3 drops of Gorgeous Grape ink and squished it around until the ink covered the string.  I didn’t want it a solid color because I kind of liked the ombre look to it.  This way you can make Baker’s Twine in any of the Stampin’ Up!® colors!  Here is a small hint:  It takes a bit to dry so don’t pick it out with your fingers (ask me how I know this).

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!

Tasteful Backgrounds & Daisy Lane

Stampin’ Up!® has so many awesome new products in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog that I had a hard time keeping to my budget.  I am not a very patient person so when I see something I love, I want it immediately.  This card had three different products that I purchased right away.

The colors I used on this card are Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody.  To make this card I first used the set of dies called Tasteful Backgrounds.  There are three dies in this set that you can use to make fun backgrounds like this one.  It also has a matching stamp set called Tasteful Textures (and you can get the 10% Bundle price).  I didn’t use the matching stamp set on this card but it is really pretty and worth buying.

After I cut them out, I used my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch with Mango Melody cardstock to put behind a couple of the cut out images.  Then I used Mango Melody ink with the stamp set called Daisy Lane with the matching punch called Medium Daisy (you can buy these in a Bundle and save 10%).  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Here’s A Card.  This is a sentiment only set that has a few different elegant fonts and sentiments to use on the inside and the outside of a card.

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!
