Basket Of Blooms

Stampin Up Basket of Blooms

I think I am in denial about winter.  I know I can’t really call winter in Tennessee “winter” compared to what I lived in for the last 42 years but it is my winter now.  In Northern New York I would get weather alerts whenever a big snow storm or high winds were expected.  For some reason I am still getting these alerts (I can’t remember my password to turn them off) so I know when New York may be expecting 10 inches of snow.  In Tennessee it is 50 degrees.  Even though we don’t get the really, super cold weather here or the big snow storms, we have brown, dead grass and no flowers.  I think this is why I need to still make cards using my flower sets.  Flowers make me happy (Jackie of BS & J thinks I am crazy for loving all the flower sets.  She is probably right!!).  On a side note, my cactus also loves Tennessee weather.  It bloomed in October and I looked this morning and there are two new blooms.  It has never done that!  Maybe it knows I miss flowers.

In any case, I made this card using the stamp set called Basket of Blooms.  This stamp set is in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  This stamp set coordinates with the Small Bloom Punch.

I first stamped the flowers in Gorgeous Grape ink and then colored them using the Light Highland Heather Stampin Blend.  Then I punched them out using the Small Bloom Punch.  I stamped the flower pot in Misty Moonlight ink and colored that using the Light and Dark Misty Moonlight Blends.  I masked the pot by stamping it on a Post-it- Note, cutting it out and placing it over the flower pot on my card.  This lets you stamp the leaves without getting ink on the pot.  I then stamped the leaves in Just Jade ink and once again,  colored them using the Light Just Jade Blend.  I adhered the flowers using Stampin Dimensionals and added the Playing With Patterns Resin Dots in the middle of the flowers.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn.  I use this sentiment a lot and I am sad the set is retiring on January 4th.  Beautiful Autumn has coordinating punches called Autumn Punch Pack and they are retiring too.  You can still purchase the stamp set and the punch pack in a Bundle but only while supplies last.  After January 3rd, they will be gone forever.  I have made a lot of cards using this Bundle and if you would like to see them, click on the Categories button to the right and click on Beautiful Autumn.

The Designer Series Paper is called Flowers For Every Season and is also in the Annual Catalog.

Basket Of Blooms & A Fun Challenge

Last week I started a “Mystery Parts” challenge with some of my downline.  I totally stole this idea from a friend of mine and fellow Demo, Diana Gibbs (thank you Diana!).  This is where you send some pieces of cardstock, embellishments, Designer Series Paper or whatever you wish to people and they add their own stamps and supplies to make a card.  The only requirements are they have to use all the things you sent them and, of course, they have to use Stampin’ Up!® products.

Here is what I sent them:

As you can see it was some Just Jade and Whisper White cardstock, a piece of Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper ( I showed both sides in this photo but they only got one piece and could choose which side they wanted to use), and three Elegant Faceted Gems.

This is the card I made based on these supplies:

Stampin Up Basket Of Blooms

I used the stamp set called Basket Of Blooms.  I first stamped the pot in Smokey Slate and then colored it using the Light and Dark Cajun Craze Blends.  I stamped it again on a Post-It Note, cut it out and then covered the original stamp.  This is called Masking.  I had to do this so the leaves would look like they were inside the pot.  I stamped the leaves in Just Jade and colored them using a Soft Seafoam Marker.  I stamped the flowers in Smoky Slate Ink and then colored them using the Light Highland Heather Blends.  Then I punched them out using the Small Bloom Punch.  Lastly, I added an Elegant Faceted Gem to the middle of each flower.

Here are the creations my downline made.  I love how each one came out differently.

Aren’t they great?  I love how each one is different.

Thoughtful Blooms is a stamp set that you can get for FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 purchase.  This stamp set has 17 stamps in it that include flowers, leaves, stems, a border and some sentiments.  You can use it for thank you or congratulation cards.  On top of all that you can also get the matching punch called Small Bloom Punch for FREE with a $100 order!  So, for $150 you can get all the wonderful products of your choice, plus $15 in FREE merchandise of your choice AND the stamp set called Thoughtful Blooms (or the other wonderful products in the Sale-a-bration catalog) AND the Small Bloom Punch!  That is an awesome deal!

To make this card I first stamped the flowers in Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray ink.  Then I punched them out using the Small Bloom Punch.  I stamped the stems and leaves in Mint Macaron ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched So Sweetly Die set.  I layered the flowers over the stems using Dimensionals so they popped out.  I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and punched it out using the 1″ Circle Punch and layered that on top of a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock I had punched out using the 1 1/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.

The ribbon is 1/4″ Metallic Ribbon in Seaside Spray.  It is beautiful in person because it has some sparkle to it.
