Handsomely Suited

Stampin Up Handsomely Suited

Here is the second card of my Designer Series Paper posts.  If you recall, on Monday, I wrote about how I can’t get myself to make that first cut into a sheet of DSP.  I keep thinking if I cut it, then come up with a fantastic idea to use it, I won’t be able to because it is already cut.   DSP has at least two sheets of every design and there are two different designs on each side so that idea is silly.  One of the things I always do when I open a pack of Designer Series Paper is to arrange all the sheets so I can see both sides of the patterns.  That way, when I flip through I can see all the designs instead of two sheets of the same side.  It really helps me in using them and seeing what goes together.

To make this card I used the Well Suited Designer Series Paper that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2021 January – June Mini Catalog and part of the Well Suited Suite.  I love the patterns in this paper.  It is perfect for masculine cards but can also be used for all cards too.  The dotted piece is 1 3/8″ x 5.25″.  The striped side is 2.75″ x 5.25″.  I decided to cut a little strip of Basic Gray cardstock to divide the two patterns.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Handsomely Suited and is also part of the Well Suited Suite.  I stamped it in Basic Gray ink and then punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  Lastly I added a few of the Matte Black Dots.

Stayed tuned for another post using mostly Designer Series Paper on Friday.  If I can cut it and use it, you can too

Handsomely Suited

Stampin Up Handsomely Suited

Well Suited in a new Suite that is in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog.  It is a perfect set for making masculine cards for birthdays, Father’s Day or for a thank you card.  The stamp set in this Suite is called Handsomely Suited.  It includes a couple of tie and bowtie stamps and some great sentiments.  This stamp set has coordinating dies called Suit & Tie Dies.  They not only cut out the images in the stamp set but they also have a die that can be made into a suit or shirt.  It is just adorable!

In addition to the stamps and dies, this Suite also includes Well Suited Designer Series Paper and a Well Suited Twine Combo Pack.   All these products coordinate with each other making it so easy to put together a great card for your Dad, husband, sons and all the other men in your life.

This card was super easy to make.  I first cut out the three ties using the Well Suited Designer Series Paper.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  I adhered the ties to another piece of the DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals and layered the sentiment on top.

On another note, due to unforeseen circumstances, Stampin’ Up!® is no longer carrying Whisper White cardstock.  They are replacing this cardstock with Basic White cardstock.  Here are the products with the items numbers for you.

A Quick & Easy Fun Fold Card

This is another card we made at our monthly stampin class.  It is a fun fold card (one of my favorite things to do) and is very quick and easy to make.  My poor class attendees are probably tired of fun fold cards but I love them so they have to put up with me.  Here is what it looks like when you open it up.

To make this card I cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock the long way.  This means you cut it in half on the 8.5″ side.  Then I scored it at 2.75″, flipped it over and scored it at 2.75″ on the other side.  I cut two piece of Balmy Blue cardstock 1 7/8″ x 5.25″.  Then I cut two pieces of  Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper  at 1 5/8″ x 5″ and layered them on top of the Balmy Blue pieces.  Then you adhere each of them to the front of the card making sure you only put adhesive on half of the piece of Balmy Blue cardstock (or you won’t be able to open the card).  I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock (4″ x 5.25″) and adhered that to the inside of the card.  Then I stamped the lighthouse and seagulls using Night of Navy Ink.

The sentiment on the front is from the stamp set called Here’s A Card.  I stamped it in Night of Navy Ink and cut it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  I thought it needed a little bit more so I cut out a piece of Night Of Navy cardstock 1.25″ x 1.5″ to put behind it.

Butterfly Gala

Butterfly Gala is a stamp set that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It has a matching Punch called Butterfly Duet Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle until June 3rd.  I never got a chance to use this set after I first ordered it.  Normally Stampin’ Up!® sells about 10,000 punches.  When this catalog came out, they sold twice that amount.  That was totally unexpected!  They had trouble getting it back in stock so it became un-orderable for a long time.  Thankfully it is back in stock now and it will be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog that comes out June 4th.  If you like it you need to take advantage of the 10% discount because when it goes in the new catalog it will not be offered as a Bundle.

To make this card, I inked up the large butterfly only and stamped it a few times using Memento Black Ink.  Then I inked up the small butterfly only and stamped that.  The butterflies are actually attached to each other which makes it easier to punch out but I wanted to stamp them randomly around so I only did one at a time.  You can mask off the butterfly you are not using or you can just ink carefully.  I masked.  I thought it needed something more so I added the flower stamp from Bloom By Bloom.  This stamp set will be retiring on June 3rd. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  Then I stamped one more butterfly and colored it using my Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue Stampin’  Write Markers. Then I punched it out and adhered it to the card.

Quick & Easy Cards Part IV

Welcome back to fourth post in my Quick & Easy cards using Designer Series Paper series.  If you missed the first three posts you can see them HERE, HERE and HERE.  This series shows those of you who think you don’t have time to make nice cards, how to make them and be able to share them with family and friends plus they get you to use your stash of beautiful Designer Series Paper.

This card uses the Happiness Blooms Memories & More Card Pack as a background.  The Happiness Blooms also has Designer Series Paper called Happiness Blooms so you could use either.  I first stamped the word “Best” using Night Of Navy ink onto a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and then punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch. This stamp comes from the set called Well Said.  It has matching dies called Well Written Framelits.  They are both in the 2019 Occasions Catalog and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Then I cut out the word “wishes” from this set of dies and adhered it to the Tag.  I wrapped a piece of 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon in Call Me Clover around the Paper and placed the tag over it.  Lastly, I adhered it all to a piece of Call Me Clover and Soft Sea Foam cardstock.

Again, this card took less than five minutes to make and uses that Designer Series Paper that is sitting on your shelf!  You know I am talking to you!

Come back tomorrow to see the last card in my Quick & Easy card series.

A Ribbon Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today is the day for another BS & J Productions Stamp Off Challenge.  Every stamper knows how hard it is to use that beautiful Designer Series Paper Series Paper.  Well, most stampers also find it hard to use that gorgeous ribbon so we made this challenge about using our ribbon.

Here is my card:

Can you believe I actually used two pieces of ribbon on this card?

I used the stamp set called Tropical Chic.  This set has matching Thinlits called Tropical Thinlits Dies.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  This is one of my favorite Bundles in the 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  I love anything tropical or beach themed ( I have an unexplained aversion to saying the word beachy.  I don’t know why other than those renovation shows).

The colors I used are Gray Granite, Poppy Parade and Lemon Lime Twist.  It is kind of an odd combination but I had the ribbon in those colors and ended up liking them together. The ribbon is called 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon in Gray Granite (from the Annual Catalog) and Poppy Parade from the Holiday Catalog.  The Designer Series Paper is called Best Route.

Now let’s go see how Jackie and Buffy used ribbon on their projects.

Guy Greetings & The Stamparatus

This is the third card we made in our monthly stamp club meeting a couple of weeks ago.  We used the retiring stamp set called Guy Greetings.  This set is a great set to make masculine cards.    I used the sentiment Happy Birthday but a lot of the ladies changed it into a Father’s Day card by just chaining the sentiments.  This set is great because it comes in Wood Mount, Clear Mount and Photopolymer so it can make  everyone happy!

I also introduced the Stamparatus to my club members with this card.  It allows you to stamp and image multiple times and have it line up perfect every time.  If you haven’t seen the Stamparatus at work you need to watch this video.

We stamped the sentiment and then cut it out using the Tailored Tag Punch.  Then we punched a blank one out of Tranquil Tide cardstock, cut it in half and then backed the sentiment with it.  Thankfully, this punch is going to be in the new catalog.

The colors I used on this card are Tranquil Tide and Night of Navy.  These colors match the Designer Series Paper we used called True Gentleman.  This paper was in the 2018 Occasions Catalog but has now sold out.

A Mini Pyramid Fun Fold Card

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly stamp club meeting last night.  It is a take on the very popular pyramid card that is all over the internet right now.  I am not sure who came up with this idea so I can’t give credit to that person.  This is a simplified version because the real pyramid card has a ton of layers that open up all sorts of ways with photos, etc., and stands at least one or two inches high.  Our card only has three simple layers.

The first layer opens like this:

Then the second layer opens like this:

Finally, the last layer opens to a gift card holder.

The supplies we used are the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set from 2018 Occasions Catalog. The Designer Series Paper is from the same suite and is called Picture Perfect Party.  We used the Tailored Tag Punch and the Garden Trellis Embossing Folder.

To make this card you need to cut the first layer of cardstock 5.5″ x 1.75″ (we used Peekaboo Peach) and then fold it in half.  The Designer Series Paper is 2.5″ x 1.5″.

The second layer (we used Berry Burst) is 8″ x 3″ folded in half.  The piece of Whisper White cardstock inside the second layer is 3.75″ x 2.75″.

The third layer (Pool Party) is 11″ x 4.25″ scored at 2.75″ and 8.25″.  The Designer Series Paper on the outside of the third layer are two pieces 2.5″ x 4″.  The Whisper White cardstock inside is 5.25″ x 4″ and embossed with the Garden Trellis Embossing Folder.  The piece of Peekaboo Peach cardstock that holds in the gift card is 5.25″ x 2″.

A Colorful Happy Birthday

Here is a quick and easy card that uses up some of those small Designer Series Paper scraps that we all have hanging around.  I used the Tailored Tag Punch to cut out pieces of Designer Series Paper called Picture Perfect Party.  Then I used the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die with some Basic Black cardstock and layers it on top.  It was very simple, yet colorful and I think it makes a great masculine card.  Ok, well maybe not with the Berry Burst, Pool Party and Peekaboo Peach cardstock background but you could change that easily for the man in your life who may not appreciate pink (or purple).

My son, Sam, daughter in law, Tara, Madelyn and Nolan (I am sure you already know who they are) are in the process of moving.  They had to put their house on the market but needed a place for Waffles, their Sheep-a-doodle to live while the house was being shown.  Waffles is very sweet, but very big and would probably scare people.  Rob and I were asked to take her.

Here is a picture of Waffles:

Waffles is a very sweet dog and after a few days of Rob’s boot camp, a very well behaved dog.  Waffles favorite place to sit is on the couch on top of me.  Yes, I did say on top of me.  She doesn’t want to sit next to me.  She wants to be as close as possible.  She definitely does not like me working on my computer when we are sitting on the couch.  Her head plops down on top of the keyboard and won’t move until I am rubbing her belly.

Here is a picture of Waffles with Emma, my Golden Retriever (on the right) and my other son, David’s Golden Retriever on the left.  When I look at this picture I want to start singing the song from Sesame Street that goes “one of these things is not like the others.  One of these things just isn’t the same…..🎶🎵.

Anybody want to buy a house?  Quickly?  🙃

Epic Celebrations

This is another card we made in our monthly stamp club.  It uses the stamp set called Epic Celebrations.  This is one of the stamp sets you can get for FREE with a $50 purchase.  This is a great set to use for boys, young and old.

I am always amazed how everyone has such different tastes when it comes to just about everything.  There are some members of my stamp club that like Neutral colors.  There are some that like bright colors (like me) and some that like the Subtles and Regals.  I decided to give them a choice by coloring the guitar with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  Here is the card using Marina Mist for the guitar.

Here is a card using Crumb Cake for the guitar.

I did have one member who wanted pink which would also look great on this card.

The background is stamped with the background stamp called Sheet Music.  The punch is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog and is called Tailored Tag Punch.  To make the background to this stamp we adhered it to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and cut it out by hand.
