Stampin Up Sailing Home

I decided to try a fun technique that Jennifer McGuire did a couple of weeks ago.  The technique is called Offset Inking.  You need a Stamparatus to do this technique but it is really easy to do. You stamp an image in any color you want (I used Seaside Spray).  Then you move the cardstock up 1/8″ and stamp it again using Whisper White Craft Ink.  It gives the images a little more dimension.  I do have to say that I probably did it backwards and should have stamped the Whisper White image first and then the Seaside Spray but it still looks good.

Now believe it or not, I used the Birch Background stamp to make the background.  I first tried this technique in a different colors and it looked a little bit like clouds so I changed it to Seaside Spray.  Again, I lined up the Birch stamp on my Stamparatus, stamped it once in Seaside Spray ink on Seaside Spray cardstock and then moved it up 1/8″ and stamped it again in Whisper White Craft Ink.  To make the water darker, I used the water stamp from the stamp set called High Tide.  I stamped it numerous times over the birch images.

After I did the background I then stamped the sailboats in Smoky Slate ink and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I used a Seaside Spray Stampin Blends to color in-between the sails so it would blend in better with the water.  I sponged a piece of Whisper White cardstock using So Saffron and Petal Pink in to make the sun and then cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies.  I thought it looked softer than just cutting out a circle of cardstock. I stamped the seagulls in Memento Black ink.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Beautiful Autumn which is in the Holiday Catalog.  I love that sentiment!

Gather Together

This is another card we made at an October class.  It is one of my favorite ones we made and I totally forgot to show it to you.  We used products from the Come Together Suite that is in the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog.  I love it that Stampin Up! groups a bunch of products that go se well together.

For this card we used the stamp set called Gather Together.  This set has matching dies called Gathered Leaves and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  One of the fun things about these die is, not only do they cut out some of the images in the stamp set but there are extra dies in that cut and emboss at the same time.  If you look at the Crushed Curry leaf you will see it is embosses with the veins of the leaf too.

To make this card I first stamped the background using the Birch stamp in Crumb Cake and layered it on a Crumb Cake card base.  Then I cut a Hexagon out using the Stitched Nested Label Dies from the Annual Catalog also in Crumb Cake cardstock.  I stamped the wheat and the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I stamped the big leaf and the pumpkins in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut them out using the matching dies and colored them using the light and dark Stampin Blends in Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie.  Lastly I tucked the Crushed Curry leaf under the pumpkins.

Daisy Lane & Birch

I love background stamps.  They add so much texture to a card.  Birch is a new background stamp that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  We have birch trees all over our neighborhood and I have memories of sending letters using birch bark to my grandparents who lived in Vermont and Florida.  I also saw a card online that used the Birch stamp for water.  It was awesome!

The colors I used for this card are Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Smoky Slate.  The easiest way to stamp with such a large stamps is to use your Stamparatus.  That way if you don’t get ink in all the right places you can just stamp it again in the exact same spot.  If you don’t have a Stamparatus (what?  that is just craziness!), then you can always turn the background stamp upside side, ink it and then lay your cardstock on top and rub.  But really.  You need to get a Stamparatus!

I stamped the flowers from the stamp set called Daisy Lane and punched from out using the Daisy Punch and the Medium Daisy Punch.  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Band Together.  I love the font in this stamp set.
