Happy Birthday, Sam

Celebrations Duo, Balloon Adventures, Celebrate Today, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

Today is Sam’s birthday.  Sam is my middle son and the awesome father of Madelyn.  He is 33 years old.  Can you believe that?!!  I must have had him when I was 10 (ok, maybe 20).  Time sure flies.  He became a father before I could blink an eye!

I made this card using a new Embossing Folder in the Occasions catalog called Celebrations Duo.  It has two embossing folders.  The other one says Happy.  The thing that is different about these folders is, the deboss instead of emboss so the words are pressed into the cardstock.  To make this card I “debossed” the word celebrate first and then stamped the balloons over it.  See how the ink doesn’t go into the word?  It is so clever!

To make the background I took 3/4″ strips in Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder and adhered them to a piece of cardstock.  I used Balloons from the Celebrate Today stamp set and Balloon Adventures.  The “You” is from Crazy About You.

Happy Birthday, Sam!  I love you and am so proud of you!

Sunshine Sayings

Sunshine Sayings, Time Of Year, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but lately I have been doing a lot of cards that are quick and easy.  There is a reason for that.  I was actually going on vacation for a couple of weeks so I had to make 15 cards and write 15 blog posts before I left.  We flew to our destination so I couldn’t bring stamping things without Rob being unhappy with a $100 baggage charge for an extra suitcase!  Whew!  It has been kind of crazy but I think I did ok with this task.

So, here is another quick and easy card to make when you are in a hurry (or having to make enough cards in a couple of days to keep this blog going).  I used the stamp set called Sunshine Sayings for the flowers and leaves.  The ‘Happy” is from Crazy About You (which is one of the few stamp sets that comes in your choice of wood mount, clear mount or Photopolymer!) and the banner is from Time Of Year.

Well, thanks for being so patient with me by putting up with so many easy cards.  At least I hope I showed you that making cards doesn’t have to be elaborate or time consuming.

Another Stamp Off Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is a sketch challenge by Jackie (apparently I get that part wrong a lot so I can’t really promise it is Jackie’s but I think it is).  It could also be a layout challenge because it is called Pile It On. In any case, here is the challenge.

Here is my card:

Swirly Bird, Time Of Year, Swirly Scribbles, Bunch Of Banners

I used a few stamp sets for this card.  One is called Swirly Bird (the bird), on is called Time Of Year, which is a hostess set in the Annual Catalog (Birthday) and the happy came from Crazy About You.  I used a couple of different Big Shot Dies too.  The wreath is from Swirly Scribbles and I cut the banner out using Bunch Of Banners.

As a side note, Buffy, Jackie and I are on our way to go to Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage.  Buffy and I are both going to the one in New Jersey but unfortunately, Jackie is going to Phoenix.  I can’t wait.  We will get an early peek at the 2017 Occasions and Sale-a-bration Catalogs and have a fun filled day with other demonstrators from the area.  If you are interested in more information and becoming a demonstrator, just send me an email.  I will be glad to answer any questions you have.  One of  my newest downline, Char, is also going! It should be a lot of fun.

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I am sure we will be wowed!

Flourish Thinlits

Flourish Thinlits, Crazy About You, Pretty Paisleys, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I have made a few cards lately that could be used for a wedding card, yet could also be used as a birthday card.  I think I have weddings on my brain.  My nephew is getting married and I’ve been helping my sister Katherine pick out a Mother of The Groom dress.  A couple of years ago, when I retired from my full time job, my sister was on a sabbatical from teaching.  It was when my niece was getting married.  Katherine and I spent hours “talking” online trying to find dresses to wear.  I think there were days when we didn’t even get dressed!  It was fun.  So, now we are doing it again, although we aren’t spending all day, it is still fun.  She needs to pick out a dress first and then I will be able to pick one out so we don’t get the same color.  Wish us luck!

Detailed Floral Thinlits

Detailed Floral Thinlits, Crazy About You, Hello You Thinlits

I think one of my most favorites thing in the 2-16/2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies.  I think they are so elegant and can be used for any card theme.  The best part is they are so easy to cut out if you use the Precision Plate and the new Big Shot Platform.  This new Platform has a curve in the middle so it presses the die a little harder.  It will come with any new Big Shot purchase from Stampin’ Up!  from now on and you can also just buy the platform by itself is you already own a Big Shot.

The ‘happy” is cut using the Hello You Thinlits.  Although you can not see it in this picture, I used Clear Wink Of Stella over the word to add a little sparkle to it.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Crazy About You.

Six Sided Sampler

Six Sided Sampler

Sometimes I get so excited about all the new products that Stampin’ Up! offers I forget about the older products that I love so much.  The stamp set called Six Sided Sampler is one of those sets.  It has a matching Embossing Folder called Honeycomb and a matching punch called Hexagon.  You can’t ask for anything more!  If you put all those items together it makes it so easy to make a card.  You just stamp, punch, run it through the Big Shot and put it together!  Easy as pie.  Not to get side tracked or anything, but since when is making pie easy?  I mean really.  The only pie that might be easy to make is if you use pre-made pie shells and canned filling.  Homemade pies are time consuming and messy to make but oh so delicious!

Sorry for getting sidetracked!

Crazy About You

Crazy About You

Crazy About You is a great stamp set because it has a ton of words included with it.  You can put the words together to make different sentences.  For example, it includes the word “you”.  You can put it together with “amaze me”, “just be”, “crazy about”, “so proud of”, etc.  There are actually 30 different words or sayings.  I can’t think of a sentiment you would ever need that would not be included with this set.

The flower I used matches the Flower Medallion Punch.  I stamped it three times and then punch the largest part of the flower out and then fussy cut the two inner parts.  Then I layered them using Dimensionals so it gave it a 3D look.  The leaves are from the Bird Builder Punch.

Happy Fourth Of July!

Triple Banner Punch

Today is America’s birthday!  I decided to make a flag card to commemorate the day.  Last year the big rage was to make a flag card using Work of Art.  That was an awesome set to use but this year I wanted to do something different.  Therefore, I made a shaker card. Shaker cards are always a lot of fun.

To make the stripes I used the new Banner Triple Punch.  The “normal” sizes for this punch are 1″, 1 1/2″ and 2″ banners but you can also make smaller sizes.  You just have to center the card stock in the middle of the punch.  It works really well.  The stars in the window were made using the Confetti Star Border Punch.

The sentiment is from Crazy About You.

I hope everyone has a happy 4th!

Watercooler Challenge WWC26

Banner1

It is time again for another Watercooler Challenge.  This time it is a color challenge by Jean.  I am not sure which I like better.  The Lemon Pie or the colors but both are delicious looking!Lemonade Pie Color Challenge - June 14 2015Here is my card:

Crazy About You

I used the stamp set called Crazy About You.  This set was originally in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog and was carried over to the Annual Catalog.  I am so glad it was.  It has a ton of sayings (even though I didn’t use one of them on this card) that are very versatile.  The flower I used matches a punch we have called Flower Medallion.  I did use the sentiment from Butterfly Basics because it seemed to fit better in the space I had.

If you like to see the other Watercooler Artist’s creations click HERE.  We would love it if you participated by posting your card using these colors on that web site too.  You could be picked as this week’s favorite and have the honor a winner’s badge.

Watercooler Challenge WCC25

It is that time again for another Watercooler Challenge!  This time our inspiration is from Kath.  She gave us this photo to work with.

The colors are amazing in this photo.  The first thing I though of was our stamp set called Four Feathers.  I am so sad that this set is retiring.  It has a matching set of Framelits that is also retiring.  I am thinking about doing a write in campaign for Stampin’ Up! to bring this set back.  In any case, you can only buy it until June 2nd when it will be gone for good.  Here is my card:
