Stampin Up Hand Penned Petals

Last weekend the Nashville are got hit with some strong storms.  There were tornado watches (something I will never get used to), a hard driving rain and then 50-60 mph winds.  We were ok but my son and his family lost power early during the storm and it stayed off for a couple of days.  Lucky for us, they decided to come stay with us for the weekend.  We had a lot of fun crafting, playing minature golf and just hanging out.  Maybe I should wish for thier power to go out more often (just kidding, Tara).  Rob is collecting paintings done by our grandchildren for his office.  Emory, Maddie and Nolan did a great job on their’s.   When it is all done, I will share photos.

Today’s card is a fairly simple one to make.  I first used a 3..5″ x 4.25″ piece of Evening Evergreen card stock with the Stitched Greenery die.  I love how this die just cuts little dots that form leaves.  It is a great way to add a subtle background to a card. I backed it with a 3.75″ x 4.75″ piece of Basic White card stock and a Soft Succulent card base.

Next, I stamped the flower from the stamp set called Hand-Penned Flowers using Evening Evergreen ink.  I cut it out using the coordinating Penned Flowers dies and then colored it using the Balmy Blue and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.  I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink and cut that out using one of the Stylish Shapes dies.  I adhered that to the card using Dimensionals.  Lastly, I added some Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls (retired).

Hand Penned Mystery Parts

Once again my fellow Stampin’ Up!®  Downline participated in a Mystery Parts Challenge.  My Downline are people who signed up to be a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator under me.  The Challenge is when one person sends some products that we have to use to make a card.   You can add your own products to your creation but you must use what she sends you too.

This time, Char sent us these products.

Stampin Up Hand Penned

The Designer Series Paper is called Hand Penned.  I love this paper!  She also sent a Basic White card base and some 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon in Misty Moonlight.  Here is the card I made using these products.

Aren’t they all beautiful?  I love how each one turned out so differently even though we all used the same products.

To make my card I first cut the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper to 5.25″ x 3.75″.  I took a one inch strip of Misty Moonlight and cut it out using a die from the Penned Flowers die set that cut the scallops and stitches.  I tied the piece of Misty Moonlight ribbon around this and layered it all on top of a Basic White card base.  Next I stamped the flowers in Misty Moonlight, So Saffron and Mint Macaron ink and cut them out using the coordinating die.  I layered it on top of a Basic White and Misty Moonlight circle from the Layering Circles die set.  The sentiment is from Beauty Of Friendship and was cut out using the Beautiful Trees die set.  Lastly I added some Genial Gems to add a little sparkle.

Hand Penned Petals

Stampin Up Hand Penned Petals

Hand Penned is a Suite in the 2021/2022 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  It includes the stamp set called Hand-Penned Petals, the coordinating dies called Penned Flowers (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a bundle), Hand Penned Designer Series Paper, and Genial Gems.  It is a beautiful suite full of gorgeous hand drawn flowers and lovely sentiments.

When I decide to make a card I usually go through my stamp sets to see which one I want to use.  Once in a while I go through my die sets to decide.  In this case, I chose the Penned Flowers Dies to see what I could make using them and not the stamp set.  It is kind of backwards but a fun thing to do every now and then.  Then I decided what colors I wanted to use.  I decided on Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent.  These are three of the newest InColors.

To make this card I first cut out the various flowers and leaves in this die set.  Then I played with them by putting them in different positions until I found a pattern I liked.  I have to say, this took me a while to figure out.  I am kind of a symmetrical person so I needed some balance doing this.  After I decided I liked them they way they were, I placed a piece of Press ‘N Seal over them so they would stay in place.  If you haven’t tried this, you should.  The Press ‘N Stick is sticky on one side so it keeps your pieces all in place.  You lay it over the pieces and press down and they stick to it.  Then you can pick up the pieces and turn them over to add adhesive (such as Multipurpose Glue).  Then you just turn it back over on top of a piece of cardstock, press them down and then gently lift the Press ‘N Seal off. It is a wonderful invention for card makers (ever though it is supposed to be used in the kitchen)

After I did this I used one of the Basic Borders dies to cut the Basic White card stock at an angle.  I did the same with a piece of Fresh Freesia cards stock and layered them together.  I ran a Pale Papaya card base through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it some texture.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Sweet As A Peach in Fresh Freesia Ink.

Floating Strips

Stampin Up Floating Strips

Last week I had a stamp camp at my cottage.  This was one of the cards we made.  It is called the Floating Strips technique.  I saw it on the website called Splitcoaststampers and decided I wanted to try to make it and then thought why not make it at our monthly stamp meeting.  It is very easy to so and you can get the directions right on the Splitcoaststampers website under the Tutorials tab.

To make this card I first cut a circle using the Layering Circle dies out of a Window Sheet.  I used the largest circle die to do this which I think is about 3″.  Then I cut strips of paper using Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.  This paper can only be purchased as a Hostess Set but it is the best DSP for the price.  There are 48 sheets in this pack.  One side has bright colors and designs and the other side is all black and white designs.  I cut one 1/2″ strip of the Crushed Curry DSP, two 3/8″ strips each of the Misty Moonlight and Granny Apple Green designs.  I adhered this strips to the Circle of Window Sheet using Multipurpose Glue.  I let that dry and them cut off the excess DSP that was around the circle.

After this I cut a piece of Basic White card stock using a  die from the Penned Flowers set and adhered that to the top of the circle.  Then I used Foam Adhesive Strips on the back of the circle making sure I placed them behind the Designer Series Paper so you could not see them.  I then layered that onto a Basic White card base.  I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink and added a few of the Elegant Faceted Gems.  I decided to color one of the gems using my Misty Moonlight Dark Blends so you could see it better.

The Hand Penned Suite is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  It consists of the stamp set called Hand-Penned, a set of dies called Penned Flowers, gorgeous Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper and a pack of Genial Gems.  You can also purchased the Hand-Penned Memories & More Pack that coordinates with the suite. One of the reasons I love this suite is because the images look like they were drawn by hand (hence the name!).  Plus they are a two-step stamp set which means it take two or more stamps to make one image.

To make this card, I first added a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper to a Basic White card base.  Then I stamped the outline of the flowers in Memento Black Ink onto a piece of Basic White card stock.  Then I use the second half of the two-step stamp to add color to the flowers and the leaves.  The colors I used are Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent.  I then adhered this to a piece of Soft Succulent cardstock.  I wrapped a piece of Soft Succulent 3/8″ Open Weave ribbon around both pieces and glued it down onto the card base.  Lastly I added some 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to the card.

Stampin Up Hand Penned

Hand Penned is another new suite that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  This suite include the stamp set called Hand-Penned Petals, the coordinating dies called Penned Flowers Dies, Hand Penned Designer Series Paper and Genial Gems.  The stamp set is a two step stamp set which means it takes two or more stamps to make one image.  One of the reasons I love this stamp set is because the sentiments looks like they were hand written and images drawn by hand too.

I used my Stamparatus to make this card because it made it easier to line everything up.  I first stamped the flower image on two 3.5″ x 5″ pieces of Basic White card stock in Memento Black Ink.  I stamped the first one and then left the stamp in the same position and stamped it again on the second piece.  Then I colored the entire image on one using Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent and Polished Pink Stampin Blends.  These are four of the new InColors and I love that these colors have card stock, Ink, Markers and Stampin’ Up!® Blends in all the colors.

After coloring one image I took a die from the set called Scalloped Contours and cut it out using my Cut and Emboss Machine.  I lined it up perfectly with the first uncolored image using Dimensionals.  Then I stamped the sentiment using Soft Succulent ink.  I always forget to use embellishments on my cards so I added three of the Genial Gems.  These gems are fun because they sparkle with glitter.
