Playful Alphabet

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time we have a color challenge.  I don’t know who made up these colors together but they are crazy!  Oh wait.  It was me!

Stampin Up Playful Alphabet I got the idea from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper.  That is the great thing about the Stampin’ Up!® papers.  They give you the colors ahead of time and I love that sometimes they put colors together that I would never think of.  Plus I am still on my goal to actually use most of my Designer Series Paper.  I’m not doing that well but better than I used to.

To make this card I started with a piece of the Well Suited DSP.  I love how the Cajun Craze stripes look Grosgrain ribbon.   Then I had to decide what color would look good with Night Of Navy and Cajun Craze.  I decided BumbleBee looked great with them.   I cut the letters using the Playful Alphabet Die set.  I adhered them to the flags which are part of the Tasteful Labels dies.  I decided to adhere the flags using Dimensionals which gave the card some depth.   I stamped the word “birthday” using the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  I masked off the word Happy using tape.  Then I cut it out using a die from Hydrangea Dies.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using these crazy colors.

Playful Alphabet

Hello everyone.  It is once again time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our challenge was to “use our words”.  I must admit I had to laugh when I read the name of this challenge.  It is something I used to say, and my kids say to their children when they are having a temper tantrum and cry for an unknown reason.  My vision was to make a card with a screaming toddler on it and an adult saying “use your words”.  Of course, I didn’t do that because, well, I don’t have a stamp set that would have a screaming toddler included in it.  So, instead, I am using stamps and dies to use my words.

Stampin Up Playful Alphabet

What better way to display a lot of words than to use a die set of letters.  First, I cut out the all the letters in Basic Black cardstock.  Then I made the background from 1″ strips of cardstock in Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Flirty Flamingo and layered them on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment at the bottom is from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.

Now, let’s go see what words Buffy and Jackie used on their creations.  Have a great day!

PS:  If all goes well, I am going to have another grandchild today!  I’ll keep in touch!

Arrange A Wreath

Hello everyone.  It is time again for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  Today’s challenge is to use your favorite (or one of your favorite) bundles in the new 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.  I say one of your favorites because I have many!

First of all I have to say I am in love.  I am in love with the new InColor called Just Jade and I am not usually a green person.  It is a beautiful color and it works perfectly with Mint Macaron.  It is going to be my new Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana combination (which was my favorite until today).  They just compliment each other so well.  I also used another new InColor on this card called Bumblebee for the larger flowers and Highland Heather for the smaller ones.
I used a new Bundle from the 2020/2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog to make this card.  The stamp set is called Arrange A Wreath and the matching dies are called Wreath Builder Dies.  I love wreaths so I knew it would definitely be on my first order list.  This set did not let me down.  It has two different wreaths in the die set along with other dies that go with the stamp set.

To make this card, I first cut out one layer of the wreath in Just Jade and the second layer in Mint Macaron and adhered them to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I like how the Very Vanilla cardstock softened the look of the card.  Then I cut the large and small flowers out and layered them on top.  I felt like the smaller flowers needed something so I added a 2020-2022 InColor Enamel Dot in Bumblebee.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays in Just Jade Ink and layered that on a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock.  I was going to leave it that way but then I added the flower and leaves to the side.

Now, let’s go see which bundle Jackie and Buffy used.  I know I am going to fall in love with whatever they chose and make me want to buy it (if I haven’t already).  They are such enablers when it comes to this!

So far, what is your favorite Bundle in the new catalog?

Dino Days Fun Fold

This is one of the cards we made at our monthly stamp class.  It is a fun fold card because when you open it, only the bottom half opens.

First of all, some of you with eagle eyes will notice that I adhered the piece of Dinosaur Designer Series Paper upside down.  Do you think if I send this to a grandchild they will notice?  Probably not until an adult tells them.  When I showed my ladies this card, I said “do as I say and not as I do”. I think my parents used to say that to me.

This fun fold is super easy to make.  You take a piece of 4.25″ x 5.5″ cardstock to use as the base.  I used Pool Party for this.  Then you cut a 2.75″ x 8.5″ piece of cardstock (Pineapple Punch), fold it in half and adhere one half of it to the Pool Party base.  Then you layer a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Dinosaur Designer Series Paper over the Pineapple Punch piece.  I then layered a 2.5″ x 3.75″ piece of Whisper White over this to write your message on but I am not sure I would do that again.  I think you could write on the back or on the folded piece instead.

I stamped the dinosaur in Pineapple Punch ink and cut it out using the matching Dino Dies and Iayered that on top of a Whisper White oval I cut out using the Layering Oval Dies and a larger oval in Pineapple Punch.   I stamped the bubbles and the sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays in Old Olive ink

Sending Flowers

Sending Flowers Dies is another Sale-a-bration Coordination product that became available on February 4th.  It coordinates with the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Sending You Thoughts (although I did not use that set for this card).  As you can see, this die set will go with any sentiments in any catalog. I used the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays which is in the 2019/2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.

I have to say, that Sending Flowers is a very fun die set.  It cuts out the big circle with all the flowers and stems, and the little scallop cut outs all around the circle.  This die is perfect to make shaker cards but as you can see, you don’t have to just make them.   Then it comes with additional dies that cut out the flowers and I used the two banner dies included.  One cuts out a scalloped banner and the other cuts out the dotted banner.  Remember, these dies are only available during Sale-a-bration or while supplies last.

The colors I used for this card are Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight.  I first cut out the circle that includes all the flowers and stems but then cut out more flowers in other colors and adhered them over the Granny Apple Green flowers.  I cut out a circle in Whisper White and layered that behind the the flower circle.  To make the banner, I first cut out the scalloped one in Coastal Cabana cardstock and cut it in half.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink and cut that out using the dotted banner die and layered that over the two scalloped banner halves.

Here is a video by Stampin’ Up!®  showing you more of the Sale-a-bration Coordination products.

Forever Blossoms

On Monday I showed you a card we made at my monthly stamp class.  I had only partially colored the flowers and leaves and I had mentioned that I was going to show you another similar card where I had colored the entire image.  Although they use the same sketch, I think they look totally different.

This card also uses products from the Parisian Blossoms Suite which is in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog. This time I stamped the flowers from the Forever Blossoms stamp set in Memento Ink Ink and colored it with my Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  After I colored it I cut it out using the matching dies called Cherry Blossoms Dies.  You can save 10% by purchasing the stamp set and dies in a Bundle.

I layered this die cut over a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had embossed using a new Embossing Folder called Coastal Weave.  It is a 3D Embossing Folder that is also in the 2020 Mini Catalog.  I stamped the sentiment which is also from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock and layered that on top of a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Lastly, I colored a few of the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’  Blends and added them in random places on the card.  I love that you can color these Droplets with any of your Blends and the ink does not rub off.

So which do you like better?  The card that is colored in totally or the one that is lightly colored?

Beauty Abounds

This is a quick and easy card to make when you are in a hurry to send a birthday card (because you forgot about a very important someone in a moment of forgetfulness) but you still want to make a card and not purchase one.  Really though, does anyone buy cards anymore?  If you do I can show you a way to make your own very easily.

The colors I used for this card are Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral.  I used the stamp set called Beauty Abounds to stamp the bubbles.  This set actually has two bubble stamps in different sizes and they are my favorite part of this set.  I thought the card needed a bit more so I used a small stamp from Painted Harvest to add the little dots in Granny Apple Green.

I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink using the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays.

Today is my sister, Emily’s birthday. (This isn’t the card I made for her.  I forgot to take a picture of that one). Emily is an amazing person.  She is kind, patient and thoughtful.  I wish I could be half the person she is.  I hope you have a wonderful birthday, Emily!

Beautiful Friendship

I made this birthday card for a very good friend, Darena who also happens to be one of my downline and lives in Georgia.  That is one of my favorite things about becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  I have met so many people I would never have met and have made the most wonderful friendships.  Darena used to live in my area but when she was here we never actually met.  Her husband is in the military so they moved around a lot but we finally got to meet in Florida when her family was stationed there and I went there on vacation.  It was so nice to actually meet after a few years of emailing back and forth.

This card is about as simple as you can get.  I used the stamp set called Beautiful Friendship.  I thought it was fitting for my friendship with Darena.  I first stamped the flowers in So Saffron ink and then added a little Calypso Coral to the middle using a Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I stamped the leaves in Old Olive a couple of times without re-inking.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays.

I hope you had an awesome birthday, Darena.

Stitched Stars Birthday Card

This is the last card we made at my September Stamp Class.  It is another example of how you can take a Christmas themed stamp set and dies and use it year round.  In this case we made a birthday card with them.

The fun thing about this card is I accidentally discovered a new way to use a  the Patterned Party Decorative Masks (or stencils).   I am sure someone other very talented Demonstrator discovered this technique way before me but I had not seen it before.   I was using it the regular way where you lay the mask over cardstock sponge some ink on it.  While I was doing this, I accidentally put the inky mask upside down on my Grid Paper and I noticed it left some ink in a fun pattern.  I decided to try it on purpose using Seaside Spray Ink and a brayer instead of a sponge so I would get more ink on it.  Then I took Pretty Peacock ink and dabbed some ink randomly around using a sponge.  When this was done, I turned the Mask upside down on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and rubbed it.  I think it looks kind of fun!  It might be fun to try with the Mask that has clouds in it.  You could make a textured looking sky with white clouds.

Anyway, after making the background I cut out two stars from the Stitched Stars Dies that are in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Holiday Catalog.  The larger star is Pretty Peacock and the smaller one was cut out using the new Mercury Glass Designer Series Paper  Acetate.  As a side note, there is a piece of plaster one one side of this acetate that you need to peel off before using.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and was cut out using a Stitched Rectangle Die.

Just a reminder, there are only a few more days to the Buy 3 Get 1 free Designer Series Paper  Deal!  September 30th is the last day.

Daisy Lane

Daisy Lane is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019/2020 Annual Catalog.  It has a matching punch called Medium Daisy (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle) plus it also matches the Daisy Punch.  In addition to this, it goes well with another stamp set called Daisy Delight.  I love it when Stampin’ Up!® makes coordinating products!  Well, actually everything they make has matching coordinating products which makes it so easy to put things together.  Stampin’ Up!® has something for everyone.  If you are a beginner or an avid stamper you can find great products in their catalogs.

To make this card I first stamped two daisies from the Daisy Lane stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched them out using the Daisy Punch.  Then I took a 4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the fern in a circle using Granny Apple Green Ink.  I stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays and layered everything on top of each other.  It was a quick and easy card to make but makes a nice birthday card.
