Lilypad Lake

There is a sign in my bathroom on the wall that says “Heaven is a little bit closer in a home by the water”.  It is true.  There is something calming and serene about looking out on the water and watching the waves, the wildlife, the boats go by and the view.  I could sit and stare out the window (or from my deck) all day and get nothing done.  Don’t tell Rob but sometimes I do spend a day doing just that.  It has a way of making all your worries go away.

Lilypad Lake is a sweet and calming stamp set.  It has a bird in it.  I think it is an Egret but Lynette (a friend and club member) thinks it is a Blue Heron.  To keep the peace, we have decided to agree that if it is colored blue then it must be a Blue Heron but if it is left white it is an Egret. Don’t go looking for any blue Egrets on my cards!  In any case, it also has other images plus matching dies called Lakeside Framelits (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  There are a couple of label dies and a fun die that cuts out water.

The rest of the sentiment is inside the card and says “Going there is another”.  I love that!

The colors I used for this card are Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point (all for the water), Pineapple Punch and Grapefruit Grove.

Lilypad Lake Shadow Box Card

We made this adorable card at our Stamp Club meeting this week.  It is simple.  It is sweet but for some reason I heard a lot of uh oh’s when I showed it to them.  There were a few “what the heck” faces in the crowd but a couple of smiles.  The smiles knew something was up.

Here is the inside of the card:

They were right!  The inside of the card is a shadow box.  Since the inside is fun, I thought the outside should be simple.  I got this idea from Jennifer McGuire.  I have to admit, she has some great techniques and this was one of them.  The best part is this is not very hard to make.  You just have to score a few times, stamp a little and tape it all together.  You can the video Jennifer made showing you how to make it on YouTube.

We used the stamp set called Lilypad Lake the make this card.  This stamp set has matching dies called Lakeside Framelits.  They are a fun set of Framelits because they cut out the shapes of the stamps but they also have two label dies and a fun die that cuts out water.  I love the sentiments we used on this card.

The colors I used are Coastal Cabana for the cardstock and water.  Pineapple Punch for the sun and sailboats and Grapefruit Grove for the sailboats too.  The Pineapple Punch circle on the front of the card was embossed using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I love this folder.  It has become my favorite and needs to be in everyone’s stash!

Waterfront & Lilypad

As some of you may know, I live on Lake Ontario.  Lake Ontario is one of the Great Lakes.  It is the deepest of them but not the largest.  Our year round house is on a bay of the lake but we can only see it through the trees.  We have always wanted a house on the lake where we can actually see it and swim in it.  We were so fortunate to be able to buy our dream cottage last year.  Every night we get these awesome sunsets (I’ve posted a few here) and every morning we can look out our window at the lake while drinking our tea or coffee.

I made this card with Lake Ontario in mind.  Our view doesn’t really have mountains in the background because we are facing west but it is close enough.  I used a couple of different stamp sets.  One is called Waterfront.  This set was in the 2018 Occasions Catalog and thankfully was carried over into the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  I think it was the most popular set.  The colors I used are Tranquil Tide (for the mountains and trees), Crumb Cake (for the land), a mixture of Balmy Blue and Night Of Navy for the water and Daffodil Delight and Pool Party for the sky. I actually sponged the water and the sky with these colors.  The sentiment is from Waterfront too.

The sailboats are from a brand new stamp set called Lilypad Lake.  This stamp set has matching dies called Lakeside Framelits and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I stamped them in Memento Black Ink and then cut them out using one of the dies.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to give them some color (Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie).

I do have to say, that although sailboats are beautiful to look at, I bought a new present this summer.  Isn’t she beautiful!!??!!

……..In With The New

Good morning everyone!  Today is Friday which means it is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  If you remember last time our challenge was “Out With The Old…”.  That is why this week’s challenge is called “In With The New”!

As much as I love some of the retiring products, I really love the new products that are in the Annual Catalog that started today!  On a side note, I love Porsches!  My Dad had a white 1963 SC with a red interior.  It was an awesome car.  He only let me drive it once and he spent the entire time yelling at me.  Of course, looking back on it now, I am sure it was because he didn’t want me to drive it so he made it a miserable experience.  It worked because I never wanted to drive it with him again and he would not let me drive it alone. Someday I am going to own a Porsche (maybe after I win the lottery!).

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program!

I decided to use the new stamp set called Lilypad Lake.  This stamp set has matching Framelits called Lakeside and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The dies are great because not only do they cut out the shapes of the stamps but they also have the wavy die that I used behind the Egret and two label dies.  The sentiment is cut out using one of the label dies.

I also used brand new colors on this card.  I think they may be my favorite colors but if you read this blog at all, you know I say that a lot!  The colors I used are Coastal Cabana (my all time favorite returning InColor), Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green (both brand new colors).  I colored the lilypads using the Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Markers.  You can buy all the new color Markers in a pack!

Now, let’s go check out what Buffy and Jackie made using new products from the Annual Catalog.  I have no doubt you will love their creations!
