Stampin Up Oceanfront

Rob and I are having the best time at the beach. First, our best friends came to visit for a few days (I wrote about that previously). Then, my son, Sam and my granddaughter, Madelyn came. When our kids were younger we came here quite often because my Mom was here. My kids loved it and so does Madelyn. The place we stay at has many generations of families staying here. It is fun to see them every year.

I made this card using the stamp set called Oceanfront. I thought it was a perfect set to use when in Florida. It is kind of like our view outside our front door except the beach part is much larger in real life. I stamped the sky using Pool Party ink, the water using Bermuda Bay and the sand using Crumb Cake. The water and the sand were actually the same stamp only the sand was upside down. I also used a mask so the sand was smaller. All you need is a Post-It note or something sticky. You place it on the card before stamping so the ink only goes where there is no mask. I stamped the sentiment (from the Heron Habitat stamp set) and the birds in Crumb Cake ink.

Mountain Air

Stampin Up Mountain Air

A couple of times a year, when one of the Stampin’ Up!® mini catalogs is retiring soon, I begin to look through my stamp sets from the annual catalog to see what I have not used in a long time. When someone waves something shiny and bright (like a new catalog) in front of me, I get all excited and tend to forget about what was already available prior to the new release. So, I went through my stamp sets and pulled out a bunch I have not used in a long time and created with them. You will see a few of them in the coming weeks.

One of the stamp sets I have not used very often or in a long time is called Mountain Air. This stamp set also has coordinating dies called Majestic Mountain (although I did not use them with this card) so I decided to take it out and make a card. The first thing I did was stamp the mountains in Soft Suede and again in Sahara Sand ink. Next, I stamped the trees using Evening Evergreen ink. I used the stamp set called Oceanfront (another stamp set that is in the Annual Catalog) to stamp the water in Pacific Point ink.

Then, I stamped the mountains again onto a piece of Masking Paper and fussy cut the top of the mountains out. As I am typing this, I am not sure why I didn’t use the coordinating die which would have been easier (duh!). I laid the stamped masking paper on top of the Sahara Sand mountains on my card front and then stamped the sun in Daffodil Delight ink. That way it looked like the sun are beginning to either rise or set behind the mountains.

Lastly, I used a sentiment from Artistically Inked for the sentiment with Pacific Point ink and cut it out.

Take a look at some stamp sets you haven’t used in a while (retired or current) and use them. There was a reason you bought them!

Heron Habitat

Stampin Up Heron Habitat

Last Friday was Grandparents Day at Madelyn’s school. She goes to an amazing public school that has so many activities for the kids and the families to attend during school and after hours. It was such a nice day. Rob and I first went to her classroom to meet her teacher and see some of her work. Then we went to an auditorium where the kids came out and sang some songs. Madelyn was chosen to play the ukulele. It is so nice of the school to include grandparents. I posted some photos at the end of this post.

I actually made this card when we were at our cottage on Lake Ontario but forgot to post it. I found it in my photos of the cards I made but could not find the card itself. I must have sent it to someone as a birthday card. I hope I remember all the colors and products I used. If I forget any, I apologize ahead of time.

When we are at the cottage we see a lot of birds flying around. There are seagulls, eagles (which are amazing to watch), ducks, swans, geese (not my favorite!), and herons. The geese are fun to watch right after their goslings are born but once they get bigger, they like to come onto our lawn and make the worst mess ever. I start off the season running out there and chasing them away. As time went on, I just had to go outside stand on my deck and they would leave. They knew not to mess with me! They are definitely not as cute as when they are first born. Anyway, I knew I had to purchase the Heron Habitat stamp set with the coordinating dies called Heron as soon as I saw it. By the way, you can save 10% if you purchase them in a bundle.

I made the background of this card first using the stamp set called Oceanfront. I stamped the water in Starry Sky and the trees in Mossy Meadow ink. I stamped the clouds in Balmy Blue and the seagulls and cattails in Soft Suede ink. Next, I stamped the heron in Smoky Slate ink. Then, I took a Basic Gray Stampin Write Marker and ran it along the edge of the stamp to make it a little darker. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a die from the Hydrangea die set. Lastly, I cut the panel out using the Deckled Rectangles Die Set and layered it on a piece of Mossy Meadow and Orchid Oasis card stock. The card base is Basic White.

I have to say I love the sentiments in the Heron Habitat stamp set. It is a nice font and size and they cover just about every occasion.

On The Horizon

Stampin Up On The Horizon

I have to say I think the New Horizon Designer Series Paper is one of my all time favorites. The scenes on this paper are just beautiful. It allows you to make a card that is simple and easy yet beautiful. The paper does all the work. All you need to do is add a stamp or two. This paper is part of the New Horizons Suite that is in the 2022 January – June Mini Catalog. This amazing suite includes the stamp set called On The Horizon, Horizon Dies (and you can save 10% if you purchase it in a bundle), ribbons, adorable pebbles embellishments and the New Horizon Designer Series Paper.

For this card I cut a 3.5″ x 4.75″ piece of the New Horizon DSP. Then I took a piece of Washi Tape and covered the ground on the trees stamp, inked it with Shaded Spruce ink, removed the Washi tape and stamped it on the Designer Series Paper. I did this a few times to have the entire tree line going across. Then I took a stamp from the set called Oceanfront and used it to stamp the path to the trees. I cut out the fence from the Horizon Dies in Sahara Sand card stock and adhered that using Multipurpose Glue. Then I cut out the grass from the same DSP that I used on the background and adhered that to the fence. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink and layered that along the bottom. I layered all of that on top of a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock and then on a Misty Moonlight card base.

Stampin Up OceanFront

I love stamps, dies or Designer Series Paper that can make outdoor scenes. Stampin’ Up!® actually has a lot of these products in the new 2022 January – June Mini Catalog. There is Oceanfront and On The Horizon stamp sets and coordinating die set called Horizon. There is also New Horizon Designer Series Paper.

This time I decided to use stamps to make a scenery card. In this case I made the background using the stamp set called Oceanfront. This set has all the elements to make a beautiful background. To make this card the first thing I did was stamp the sand in Sahara Sand ink. Then I flipped the stamp set the other way and stamped the water using Coastal Cabana ink. The sky is Pacific Point and uses a different stamp in this set.

The next thing I did was stamp the dune grass in Crumb Cake ink. I stamped the birds and the sentiment from the stamp set called On The Horizon in Night Of Navy ink. At the last minute I decided to die cut the fence from the die set called Horizon using Sahara Sand card stock. I cut some small pieces from a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheets and added it to the back, middle pieces of the fence so it would like like it was rounded. Then I used Multipurpose Glue to adhere the ends of the fence. I like the fence but it blocks the dune grass and in retrospect I should have stamped the grass on the fence too.

On The Horizon

Stampin Up On The Horizon

One of my favorite new suites in the Stampin’ Up!® 2022 January – June Mini Catalog is called New Horizons. It includes the stamp set called On The Horizon, Horizon Dies, 2 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack (in Misty Moonlight and Petal Pink), Pebbles Enamel Shapes and this AMAZING Designer Series Paper called New Horizons. This DSP is just gorgeous! There is also another stamp set called Ocean Front that can be used with suite.

This card was as simple as it could be to make, yet it is beautiful. Literally all I did was adhered a piece of the New Horizons Designer Series Paper to a Basic White card base. Then I stamped the sentiment from the On The Horizon stamp set and the birds in Misty Moonlight ink. That is it. It can’t get much simpler but it is a beautiful card will awe anyone who receives it.
