Goodbye Peaceful Petals

Peaceful PetalsPeaceful Petals is a stamp set from the Occasions Catalog that was not carried over into the new Annual Catalog.  This means that it will retire on June 1st.  I am going to miss this set especially now that Stampin’ Up! is going to start selling their own set of alcohol markers called Blendabilities.  As a Demonstrator I was able to purchase some of the them.  Stampin’ Up! wanted demos to try them out.  I am not sure when they will be available for customers to order.  We have been told they might not be available when the new catalog goes live on June 2nd.  I will keep you updated on this.

I colored the flowers in the card using the Coastal Cabana Blendabilites.  Most of you who know me know that I can’t color to save my life but I have learned I actually do an ok job using the Blendabilities.  Stampin’ Up! makes it so much easier because each pack of them comes in 3 shades of the same color:  dark, medium and light.  You just color with the dark one where there would be shadows,  The blend over that with the medium one and use the lighter one where you think the light would be shining.  It is not hard to do at all and I am sure with a little more practice I will learn to color even better.

Don’t forget if you like this stamp set to order it before it is gone forever!

Embossed Peaceful Petals

At the Leadership Conference in Houston last January, Stampin Up! announced they were going to start carrying their own brand of alcohol markers called Blendabilities.  Alcohol markers are great for coloring on cardstock because you can blend them to make them look terrific.  I am hoping these markers will come out soon!

This stamp set, called Peaceful Petals, is going to be a perfect set to color with Blendabilities.  This set is also great for embossing with because all the stamps are outline stamps.  I embossed this card using White Embossing Powder and then placed the medium pearls from our Basic Jewels in the middle of each flower.  The sentiment is from Apothecary Art.

Circle Thinlits Card

I haven’t used the Circle Card Thinlits in a while so I thought I would dig it out.  This particular die is not in any catalog but is still available for purchase.  I remember when I first became a demonstrator, I held a class on how to make these kind of flip cards by hand.  It took quite a while to make because of all the careful cutting and scoring you had to do to make it work.  Now Stampin Up! came out with a die so it takes about 10 seconds to cut it out!  Not only is it perfectly cut but it is also scored!  There is a Circle Card Thinlit and a Label Card Thinlit available.  Both of them come with various other dies such as the XOXO you see in this card.

I also used the Peaceful Petals stamp set that is in the Occasions Catalog.

When you open this card, this is what the inside looks like.

Peaceful Petals Birthday Card

DSC01891

This is the first card we made at our February Club Meeting.  It uses a stamp set that is in the Stampin Up! Occasions Catalog called Peaceful Petals.  It is a beautiful stamp set that has a lot of images that can be colored, embossed or just stamped plainly as I did.  I used the 2013/2014 In Colors (Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and Gumball Green) to make this card.  I will miss these colors when they retire. Don’t forget if you like these colors you should order ink refills and extra paper before they run out.  Once the Retirement List comes out in May,they will be gone in a flash!

Peaceful Petals & Freshly Made Sketches

DSC01840

This is my entry for Freshly Made Sketches #119.  I used a stamp set called Peaceful Petals that is in the 2013 Occasions Catalog.    I embossed it with Black Embossing Powder and then cut it out using the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.  The background paper is called Modern Medley Designer Series Paper.  It is one of the few papers that uses Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White.

I can’t stress enough how easy it is to make a card when someone else has given you the layout.  All you need to do is change it to use your own stamps and papers.  You don’t have to enter any contests to use a sketch.  Sometimes I enter my card and sometimes I don’t.  It is just a great way to just get ideas to make my own card.

Here is the sketch for this week:

Simple Peaceful Petals

Peaceful Petals is one of the new stamp set in the Stampin Up! Occasions Catalog that came out this month.  It is a great set for coloring.  I used a Blender Pen with and ink pad to color the flowers but you could also use Markers or Aqua Painters to color it.  I stamped the flowers using my Stazon Ink Pad because it does not run when coloring anything.   I just lightly squeezed the ink pad (Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie) and used the ink that was left on the top from squeezing it.  A Blender Pen is great for this technique.  It gives the card a watercolor look.  The sentiment is from another new set called Perfect Pennants.

Peaceful Petals Sneak Peek

Here are some additional sneak peeks from the Occasions Catalog that is coming out January 3, 2014.   One is the stamp set called Peaceful Petals.  It is a beautiful set that has a few different flowers,  flowers with stems, leaves and a couple of sentiments.  It is a great set for water coloring (even though I am pretty pathetic at any kind of coloring).  I am not allowed to show you the stamp set online until the catalog goes lives (it is one of the rules of being a demo and getting merchandise early).  We can only show you projects made with these things.

The “frames” around the stamps are from a new set called On Film.  It has a matching stamp set called Peachy Keen.  If you would like a copy of this catalog, please feel free to contact me.  If you are not local, you would just have to pay shipping.  Otherwise the catalog is free.
