Spooky Sweets For Halloween

Two Halloween cards in one year!  That has to be a world’s record for me.  I am not a Halloween person.   I’ve already told you why in previous posts so I won’t go into it again here.  Just take my word for it.  The only thing is I just love the Spooky Sweets Stamp Set and the matching Spooky Bats Punch (you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  I think those little bats are adorable.  Plus the moon stamp matches the Twinkle Builder Punch that is in the Stampin’ Up!®  Annual Catalog.  I love it when Stampin’ Up! adds other products to match the ones you may already own.

To make this card I first stamped the tree and the ground from the stamp set called Sheltering Tree onto Basic Gray cardstock.  I know it kind of looks like a puny tree compared to the bats but I went with it anyway.  No one says stamping has to be perfect!  Then I stamped the cloudy background before adding the quarter moon and the stars to it.  The sentiment was cut out using the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies.

Happy Halloween. I hope all you crazy people out there who love Halloween and go all out have a great time.  Just don’t egg my house, please!

PS:  You know I am going to post Halloween pictures of my grandchildren so you can look forward to that!

Totally Trees

Totally Trees, Thoughtful Banners, Sheltering Tree, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This week has been amazing weather-wise.  We covered three of the seasons in this card.  Last week it was Fall with the trees full of bright colors and fluttering to the ground.  It was in the mid to high 50’s during the day. Then on Saturday it was almost 70 degrees and Rob was out mowing the lawn (well more like mulching the leaves) in shorts.  Then came Sunday.  It started snowing.  We are supposed to get anywhere between 2 and 18 inches.  As of writing this post we have gotten about 6 so far.  Schools are closed and I am hiding inside.

I made this card using the stamp set called Totally Trees.  It is in the 2016 Holiday Catalog.  It doesn’t really fit into all the holidays this time of year but it certainly fit well with the weather lately!  This set will be available until January 3rd which is the last day for the Holiday Catalog.  The 2017 Occasions Catalog starts on January 4th and you are going to love it.  The sentiment and banner is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and Duet Banner Punch.  You can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.

In the meantime, Don’t forget the Online Extravaganza goes until November 28th!

Spring Has Not Sprung!

Sheltering Tree

Last month I went to Salt Lake City for Stampin’ Up! OnStage.  Although it was cold and rainy, the flowering trees were all in bloom and beautiful.  To me, it seems so funny to see these flowering trees with snow capped mountains in the background.  In any case, when I came back home I realized that we are not even close to seeing flowering trees here.  We don’t even have buds on the trees yet.  This was a super mild winter for us so I was hoping Spring would come early.  No such luck!

I made this card using the stamp set called Sheltering Tree.  I just stamped the “leaves” in Wild Wasabi and then again in Pink Pirouette.  I know this card is wishful thinking.  I can’t wait to see all the apple blossoms, lilacs and other flowering trees and bushes in full bloom.  I think it is going to be a while!

A Fall Sheltering Tree

Sheltering Tree

This is what my yard looks like right now (only add about 20 more trees).  Although it is beautiful outside, I am not a fan of raking.  I think the rake is leaning against a tree in our yard too while I am inside stamping.  I am not stupid!  Good thing Rob has one of those mulchers on his Cucumber Crush tractor.  He grinds them all up and we are left with a much smaller pile (thank goodness!).  I am thankful for Rob buying that crazy tractor after all.

This card uses the stamp set called Sheltering Tree.  I stamped the trees first and then stamped the leaves in different colors using Stampin Write Markers.

Happy birthday to my wonderful middle sister, Emily!  I hope your day is awesome!

Watercooler Wednesday WWC34

47a5d720b3127cce98548acc27be0000003010wAbsWbFozaNGbUA

This week’s Watercooler Wednesday Challenge is brought to you by Jean.  Jean gave us a color challenge but it had to be and ombre color challenge.  Ombre is where the colors are similar but you go from light to dark (or dark to light) of different shades of the same color.  I decided to use Stampin’ Up’s blues as my colors.

Sheltering Tree, Ombre

I used Soft Sky, Pool Party, Marina Mist and Island Indigo for my colors.  The splotches and the sentiment are from the stamp set called Sheltering Tree.  To cut the arch, I just used a platter and quickly cut it with a sharp blade. The nice thing about Photopolymer stamps is you can bend them a little to match the curve.

Check out the other Watercooler Wednesday Artist’s creations HERE.  Don’t forget to join in and link up your creation using the ombre technique.  Maybe you will be the Artist of the week winner!

Flower Pots On A Wall For Freshly Made Sketches 200

Gifts From The Garden, Brick Wall

Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating their 200th Challenge with lots of prizes.  Here is this week’s sketch:

FMS+Final+200+Vers_2-001

I love the new embossing folder from Stampin’ Up! called Brick Wall.  It is so much fun to play with.  You can use it to make so many things.  I used Cajun Craze cardstock and then sponged it a little with Chocolate Chip ink to “dirty  up” the brick.  I am not sure I have ever seen a clean brick wall.  The flowers and flower pots are from Gift From The Garden.  I colored them using Stampin’ Write Markers (Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant and Watermelon Wonder) .  The sentiment is from Sheltering Tree.  I love the font that is used with the sentiments in that stamp set.

Sheltering Tree

Sheltering Tree

I think my two favorite colors of the new In Colors are Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe.  They both seem to go with so many different colors.  For this card, I used Mint Macaron with So Saffron.  It is a very soft color combination.

I used the stamp set called Sheltering Tree.  This set was originally in the 2015 Occasions Catalog and, thankfully, it carried over into the 2015 Annual Catalog.  It has 14 different stamps in the set which include four sentiments.

I stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip.  Then I stamped the leaves twice, once with So Saffron and once with Mint Macaron. I think it looks kind of like a flowering tree.

Spring Sheltering Tree

Sheltering Tree

One of the things I love about the stamp set called Sheltering Tree is that is a a great stamp set for all four seasons.  Of course, where I live there are only three seasons ~ winter, mud and July.  Right now it is the end of winter and the beginning of mud season here.  Yet, some where in this world there must be spring right around the corner.  Sheltering Tree is also a Photopolymer Stamp Set.  That means it is clear so you can see exactly where you want to stamp but it also means it is flexible.  Therefore, I was able to curve the sentiment on this card.

Happy Spring to those who experience it!

By The Seashore

By The Seashore

Although is has been a little warmer up here, there is still a lot of snow on the ground.  Thankfully the days have been in the high 30’s so the snow is melting slowly, which means no flooding.  I still miss the warmth and sunshine that we haven’t seen in such a long time.  I decided to make a card that depicts sunshine and warmth to try to cheer myself up.  It worked until I looked outside and saw all the snow.  Maybe I should just close the blinds!

I made this card using the stamp set called By The Seashore.  It has some shells, a starfish, and a sand dollar.  The shapes are all pretty easy to cut out so I can’t really call it fussy cutting.  I don’t do fussy cutting (as you all know!).

A Simple Butterfly Basics

Butterfly Basics, Work of Art

Whenever a new Stampin’ Up! catalog comes out there are certain sets that I have to have immediately and then there are others that don’t catch my eye as quickly.  Then I start seeing all these samples online and of course, I have to have it.  Butterfly Basics is one of these sets.  I am not a big butterfly fan (as you already know from a previous post) but after seeing a ton of cards made with this set, I broke down and bought it.

Work of Art is still one of my favorite sets so I used that for the swooshes in the background.  I cut the butterfly out with the Gold Foil Paper and then added some sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.  The sentiment is from Sheltering Trees (love the font on all the sentiments from that set!).
